DM_Sandy Dawn [Update!]
« on: June 25, 2006, 03:27:27 am »
Hello everyone, I'm new here. I've been tinkering with the Map Maker for some time(My early works were total wrecks...), and I believe this is my best work to date.  I give you Sandy Dawn- an old battlefield that was fought on overnight and now another battle begins at dawn.  Stars are still in the sky, and light clouds float overhead.

And now for a few pictures.  This map is kinda large length-wise, so I can't get it all in one picture.

Left portion;

Right portion;

Zoomed, most of the map;

I got bored with the bottom part, which is the slab of ground to keep you from falling into the "void".  It's just a cheap triangle.  It's not waypointed, as I still haven't got the hang of waypoints yet. :(

Any C&C are greatly appreciated, thanks. ;D

Download is attached.

Good shading.  Just stretch those textures around to get rid of the repetitive look.

...

are those swamp trees? I dunno... try to isolate the atmosphere of a map before you start riddling scenery over it! ;) It looks like a desert in the evening, or at dawn, so darkened cacti would probably be better than that kind of vegetation.

Still, not bad for a first map. Keep going.

Sweet!  Thanks everyone, I was expecting more stiff responses.

I'll get back to work on this as soon as I can! ;)

Edit:

Alright, I fixed the textures, touched up the scenery, and added a few spawn points to support team matches.  I also fixed the ugly triangle at the bottom of the map.

Download is in first post. 8)

Oh, right.

Done.

And for the textures, I think I may have stretched them a little too much.  I played through the level and they look kinda weird.
