hosting a server

i'm trying to host a game, but the game doesn't appear when my friends hit "request  servers". They've tried to use my IP address as well but that doesn't work. Any suggestions/ solutions?

please don't post in this thread until the lobby servers are back up.  it is pointless to try and help him with this when the lobby isn't even working.
