[WIP] Map Editor
« on: September 02, 2007, 04:24:02 pm »
This is a continuation/remake of a project I started a long time ago, then dropped.

This is just a quick bit of copy/pasting source code together for a little preview of what it will be like eventually; it's mostly nonfunctional as of now, so it's more of a map viewer at this point.

I heard some people out there wanted a MDI style view?

Note, that those are seperate map windows, not different views of the same map; they just happen to have the same map open because I was lazy and hardcoded a path in.

keep working on it. We need more mapmakers.

I see it doesn't render textures, huh? How long did it take you to make this?

It doesn't render textures yet; I haven't implemented anything other than loading/drawing polygons yet. It will eventually.

I created the project file for what you see here 2 days ago, with me working on it on and off in that time. All added up, it's maybe an hour of actual time spent working on it.

I'll try to add as much as I can from Polyworks, so hopefully everything Polyworks has and more.

Possible feature to view 2 views of same map at same time? Like you said that is not happening in the screeny. :P
Looks great! If this becomes as easy to use (or ezr) than polyworks, they I will definitely use it.

Great work keep it up. You should add a texture editor with it. So we can combine textures using WIP.

Tool windows:

Docked tool windows :):

(The panel won't be there later, it will auto minimize itself when it is empty and expand when a window is docked)

Might as well add that I didn't know what WIP meant either and thought it was something of a name.  No need for people to feel bad for not knowing that!

I keep having troubles with Polyworks and DirectX9. Are you using directX?

Yes, using DirectX; but this project is more or less on hold at the moment.
