Soldat for the NDS
« on: May 06, 2009, 01:42:30 pm »
I might try to make an NDS version of soldat!
I got a little shooting game beta ATM but nothing specific towards soldat yet.
I can make all the models and everything look (a lot) like soldat. and give it a soldatish feeling :)

How should I do the controls?

My thought:

(You can pick it to be left or right handed)

Up/X = Jump > Double tap to jet
Down/B = Crouch > Double tap to prone
left/Y = walk to the left
right/A = walk to the right

The touch screen will be for aiming, and there will be the additional information

Ammo
Health
Jet
Weapon < Touch to switch weapons

The top screen will just display your "Soldier" and the surrounding

Left/Right back to fire (dependant on what you are... left or right handed)
Double tapping fire will make you reload.

So in the end, you can just hold your DS like this (its retarded, someone even made a picture to show how to hold the ds correctly :o)

With the thumb on the keys :) -I KNOW THIS IS THE OLDEST DS, ITS JUST THE BEST PIC TO SHOW xD)
with the right hand on the touchscreen (This setting would be for right handed people!)

I am looking for someone that could help me with the multiplayer aspect, lan-games or even Trough Wi-Fi if possible
ATM it only supports up to 7 additional bots (8 players max)

(PS: This is going to be an R4 ect ect ONLY game, As it is homebrew software!)

Soldat will never be ported to another console. This kind of topic has arisen dozens of times. Use the search function.

(unlocked)

My eyes are burning from temporarily using a large TV monitor for my PC, and even I can see that the OP is talking about making rather than just wanting/.

Nope, some walking bricks is all I have atm, the control system needs lots of refining (the touch screen does NOT react the way I want it to)

Im not even sure if I will continue this project as someone who was helping me with the scripts doesnt want to go on =/

Good luck, I hope you actually succeed as I hate people who claim to make these games but then the creator dissappears.

I apologize; I was in a bit of a rush and only had a chance to read the title and give a portion of the the thread a quick skim. I expected it to be like all the others of its nature.

Good luck with your project. I'm moving it to the Developers' Corner.

I can program and I was wanting to make a game for DS using devkitpro. I have an m3 DS real which can do homebrew. I am also getting into JAVA and maybe if this gets any bigger it can be a multiplatform thing. I might be able to make a server in JAVA.

IDK if I already said this but I stopped working on this...

The main guy that helped me with this project moved and didnt have enough time for a whole long time (i'm not going to get further into this).

Nope, I wont release the coding we had thus far as I could finish it up or use the code I already have to create something else....
                      Sorry =/

Edit: Yup, I already posted it b4..

Im guessing he didnt even read the topic. more accurate title would help though.
