I began to use Ubuntu since I pissed off with Windows.
Now, I used Wine but didn't get Soldat Working. I heard that Shoozza were developing soldatPorted which would run on Linux without any problems.

Sadly I heard that he will stop developing the soldatPorted. He said that he haven't seen many people crying for it and he's frustrated. It's possible because for example I hadn't heard of it before I came Linux-user. I wanted to rise this issue up because it has been unnoticed for too long.

Shoozza said that if we can get at least 50 people, who want him to port Soldat to Linux, he will continue the development.

So go to #Shoozza @ irc.quakenet.org and give your support to Shoozza so all Linux users could enjoy this wonderful action game!

Yeah, wouldn't mind soldat being ported to linux either :)

I'm also suggesting a soldat ported facebook club, shame i'm not on fb though :S

Or you could just do what I do and get a laptop, install winblows on it, and use that exclusively for Soldat and just turn it off when you aren't playing and leave Linux on your main desktop/laptop.

Yeah. That's fine too. I was thinking for example people who doesn't have enough money for another computer and are pissed off with Windows like me.

And nowadays more and more games/programs have Windows/Linux versions. So why Soldat wouldn't have that kind of feature too. :)

Because the default, native, and currently only client was written in Delphi and DirectX. DirectX is the video core of the game and is _only_ supported on Windows.

For Soldat to be cross platform, it would need to be rewritten usiong OpenGL for its video support, which is what Shoozza is/was doing.

Still, add a poll to this topic.

Maybe you should remove the "No" option, if it's possible. What you're trying to do is see how many people ARE interested. Besides I can't think of a reason of why people would vote no to this, other than to be asses.

I voted F11 but ment F12 :P  I red a little about Ubuntu, it seams like an alternative worth trying if you hate windows :P
I wouldn't swich though, I would miss the programs I got for windows, most of them wouldn't work.

He sent a PM recently to several people saying he won't be back to the soldatforums. He won't see this thread unless some one links him to it.
