Impossible bot?
« on: December 14, 2010, 03:56:12 pm »
Sure, the impossible setting for bots means that barrett is pretty darn accurate, and ruger is pretty accurate... but so long as you move enough, they're actually not too hard at all because they aim directly at your current position.
Would it not be possible to make them harder by advancing the AI so that did better to anticipate where they would need to aim to intercept a flight course?
It would make bots a more challenging opponent for more experienced players.

Just a note:
A bot will less accurate aim will aim better against someone who moves upwards. This is because a bot's accuracy is such that, it will aim directly at you, but for inaccuracy, it will aim above you.

I see... surely it would be possible to make the bot AI analyse the velocity the player is going, and aim accordingly when on impossible setting?

*snip*
Don't mention the existance and/or viewability of hacks, even minor ones.
This is your first pseudo warning.

I know what you mean Guile...  think it was a bit harsh to snip your message however...and mine.
But yeah - I think the AI could be adapted and advanced to make the bots aim and fire according to the analysed flight path of the player.

The list of needed bot AI improvements is end less. Just know that everyone is aware of this, including the devs. But hopefully there's room for improvement on what I would bet is the most spaghetti coded part of Soldat. But what's actually possible no on can know with out a look at the pasta pan.
