moved: Problems with MP3s in Soldat
« on: June 11, 2006, 02:09:21 pm »
Hey guys, thought this was an awesome game so I went ahead and bought the registered version, mostly for the MP3 playlist feature. However, I can't get any of my playlists to work. I can select the playlist in the game menu just fine, but when I join a server, my console in the top of the screen gets spammed with the titles of the mp3s. It's like Soldat is trying to play them, but they're not there or something.

I've tried remaking the playlists in every way I possibly can think of (honestly, how many different ways can you do it?), but it never works. I tested them in Winamp and WMP, and they work fine. I'm using m3u's, by the way.

I've always had this problem as well. Using FoZ's playlist generator didn't solve it for me. After trying to fix it for a while, I just began to use Winamp in the background. It's essentially the same thing. You can customize Winamp's hotkeys for volume, next track, etc., so now I prefer it over Soldat's built-in player anyway.

Since we're on the subject of ingame music, can I convert ATRACs into M3U playlists?

Yes, that happened to me too. But instead of winamp, I use foobar.http://www.foobar2000.org/ It doesn't take up that many resources.  8) ;D

I just run foobar in the back ground, it doesn't hog as much reasources as winamp.  I also play in windowed mode.  The Soldat Playlist Generator didn't seem to help when I had a similiar problem, so I'd suggest using foobar

Use the Soldat Playlist Generator by FoZ.
Awesome, that fixed it! No idea why m3u's generated by WMP or Winamp didn't work, but awesome. Thanks :D.

I used the playlist generator, but my problem is.. Well, here's the thing:

I made a playlist, here's four songs:
Song 1
Song 2
Song 3
Song 4

Ok, so I start playing Soldat and song 1 plays normally. Then, song 2 is skipped and song 3 plays.
So, I ignore it. But when I leave the server, Song 2 starts playing while im in the lobby. Then, when I join another server, Song 1 starts playing - so song 1 and song 2 play together,

Ya... dunno why
The computer is a moron.

I just use winamp outside of my soldat, and press the play button on my keyboard to start it up..much better quality sound, too
