Red Rogue: a merciless side-scrolling RPG platformer

Red Rogue was released 10 days ago and is a really epic work that is VERY complex and has a whole ton of quirks.

For anyone who doesn't know what roguelikes are, they're turn-based RPGs, usually involving ASCII characters. Red Rogue, a self-described "roguelike-like," can be played in real-time or freeze-time (which kiiinda simulates turn-based playing in that you can micro-plan to your brain's satisfaction before performing any certain moves)...

and...

... roguelikes feature permadeath. So no matter how far you've advanced in the game (and the levels can get real tricky and somewhat unfair, with semi-random, sometimes even impossible-to-beat bosses, depending on your level)... if you die, you DIE. You can save games across sessions, close the game, and pick up later from where you left off, but your progress is deleted the moment you die.

Keep playing the game. Over and over again as you learn all sorts of new things in the incredible world of Red Rogue by Robot Acid (www.robotacid.com).

I know this could have went in the link-dump thread but I figured it to be too awesome to not have its own thread!
