I might have been stoned or high, but i swear a saw a soldatter with 30+ characters in his name (yep, i probably was stoned). :-\
Anyway, I find that the soldat name limit should be increased slightly (25-30 character max maybe?). I just find that the 24 or so characters we are allowed now is a bit too little. I may be the only one who thinks this... :P. What do you guys think? ???

anyway, could you give reasons why should it be increased, as you didn't give any,
as i can see your nick NinjaGimp369 will fit without any problems and you still have 12 characters left for clan (if you're in any)
and look can write my nick 6 times with 24 char limit ::)

How can 24 limit be small? Well, in case you want something like ~:|K.I.L.L.E.R.S.|:~<<<M3G4D347H>>>, but in that case I recommend to stop playing Soldat and save our souls.

24 characters... is a small limit? Don't join 12 clans and don't have a name like "Ultimate Ninja Shadow of Dragon Destiny Doom".

Well, I use my nickname gedazz which is only 6 characters, so I have no problems. And I think that using really long names (24 chars - what the heck?!) is really disturbing and annoying.

Do you really even need more than 10 or 15? It's a name, not a definition or a sentence.

And long names are not just annoying, but they are very uncomfortable, when you are playing in teams. Standing on one spot in soldat for 5 seconds is deadly! For example:
"Reyk, cover the flag! Jones, follow me! Käelkyrjakkellelõliünenägu, you-" BOOM!

I get your point, but I'll give you a little tip: Tab auto-completes player names. Pretty useful. Doesn't work however if it isn't the first word written... a bit sad. :(

and i think the character limit is long enough, it's to annoying and how would the the teksts size of 'you killed 44455569785475754sdgsbhsznen' be? i think it's fine.

It's definitely way too short.
VERY ANGRY CAPS LOCK MAN is not nearly as annoying as EXTREMELY ANGRY CAPS LOCK MAN. How am I supposed to troll effectively with a name of such paltry length?

Very true, it could get pretty annoying with a server full of ppl with their names lyk "poiugkdnshuuflowndhasijdpalqfvnhd." Thanks for clearing that up for me. Shoulda realised it myself.. ::) :P

If your name is beyond 24 characters, it might be a good idea to nuke all the non-essential adjectives in it and cut down on the punctuation.. :D

In my opinion, long names are annoying and tend to become a nousnece.
I know the common person wouldn't do this, but I was actually playing a game with someone named "Shut Up Niggas! Yeah!". Swear to god.
Names are sacred, and in my opinion, should be short, sweet, easy to remember and to the point. I think that my name describes my interests (I like megaman games if you didn't notice). Shouldn't yours?

I don't think the current limit can be changed too easily. I believe it's 24 because of the packet structure, not entirely sure though.

24 is more than enough. I haven't even seen last names that were more than 24 letters. Any more would just be unnecessary.

Unless I'm mistaken, doesn't it repeat itself when you go over the limit? So you'd end up with zbcdef...etc

Should be enough for a fair sized name & clan tag.

A clan tag is supposed to abbreviate, their problem.
Anyways, maybe it is ok, but I could see more people prettying up their names, which looks goofy really, not to mention when you hit F2 and have huge names distracting you.

IMO, i think about fifteen is a good limit. As Always, which is an average length name, then room for a clan.
