Some genius in programming could make a widget for
Opera using http://www.selfkill.com:13073/ information.
Selecting ctf, dodgeball, etc...

Temptimg. But I am quite busy these days.
If no one else does it with in a month. Bug me about it.

Pretty cool idea.
I've been planning on learning how to make widgets for Opera for sometime, because I am a huge Opera fan, so if I ever get around that I might do this, unless someone else has already.
-
one for firefox would be even nicer... there are :
1. Firefox 1,511 49.33%
2. Internet Explorer 1,011 33.01%
3. Opera 477 15.57%
far more firefox users in soldat than anything else (based on visits, not on pageloads, since having IE users addicted to the forums will cause more pageloads than accurately shows the browser usage).
one for firefox would be nice :D

One for Firefox would be cool too.
Personally I'd prefer a widget though, because the thing with widgets is that they basically run indepently of the browser (as in, they are not 'bound' to the browser, only require it to run). You can sticky widgets on your desktop, on top of everything else, or just make them act as normal applications. For example I have things like my local weather, currency convertor and a mini notepad for making quick notes on my desktop. It's cool because widgets are relatively easy to write (they are written using DHTML, eg. HTML/CSS/JS, but is not limited to them), and if coded well they don't really drain that much resources.
-
Actually I was working on this widget but didn't have time to finish it. But you encouraged me to really make it, so expect it soon. Someone else could make an extension for Firefox.
-
i am pretty good at using the DOM and js so i might do a extension for firefox, but it might take me a while :)

Well, there is a bug in Opera 9 - links with soldat protocol don't work, so the release of this widget will have to wait until they fix it :/

Umm, just tried it and works fine for me.
Maybe you're using some old beta build?
-
I tested it and it happens if you save the protocol in Opera (if you check "don't show this dialog again" option when an information about unknown protocol appears), at least in clean installation. If you don't save it, everything works OK (but every time yout click a soldat:// link, the information about unknown protocol will appear).
