i dont think the old soldat manual looks VERY good, so i decided to make my own one. Please tell me how you find it and if its good enough to be the soldat manual. ull need Microsoft Word 97-2003 for this.
here the link:
http://files.filefront.com/soldat_manualrar/;5196671;;/fileinfo.html
i hope ull like it
-
Ok, i'll look at it.
-
looks nice but The font is to big, 69 pages !?! :O and i don't really like the special effects on some images...
And shortcuts to the different sections would be nice.
-
the manual should only be in a cross-platform format
-
Why? Doesn't soldat only play on widows & linux?
-
yes... and he says that you need microsoft word to open it.
Furthermore, the manual should be in html or some other format that can be viewed online without having to be opened.
-
Make it .html. I think you can do that with word. Make all the fonts 5 smaller.
-
i just think the old manuel needs to be updated.
-
well if you got openoffice it will open. so it will open on linux systems aslong as they got that. but having it online would be cool. and whats up with it saying "SAMPLE" everywhere? otherwise its great.
-
ok dudes i see ur biggest problem seems to be the format, that means that i need to make it inot max 30 or less sites and in html, then it will be ok?
the design aso is acceptable?
ah and btw i wanteed to make it into a PDF file but the background would be deleted then so i didnt do it coz it doesnt look so good then but i wanted to make big fonts which are easier to read in PDF thats why they r so big
and the 2. btw is that the SAMPLE thingy is only coz its a beta version the final version wouldnt have it.
and 1 question left, do u like the footer? (which tells u on which site u r)???
-
the manual should only be in a cross-platform format
+ I dont like it. And its super laggy.
-
u mean u dont link the manual or the cross site or whatever its called format???
-
You made some nice additions.
If I may suggest though, We could bundle our efforts into the Soldat wiki (http://Wiki.soldat.nl/). Perhaps one day, this can replace the manual and be a very complete manual. :)
-
WOW THANKS
-
I forgot about the wiki. Now that Denacke brought it up, I definately agree with him
-

MSN kubasz@yahoo.com
ICQ 264595412
AIM aimcube
-
no, you can go edit the wiki yourself.
-
I like it.
I think that the manual should be completely redone though.
-
thx iDante
-
but could some1 explain me sumthing? contact me via MSN plz!!!!
ah, and btw that what i wanted too, was that the manual would be updated to the www.soldat.pl site, or maybe only added, so there would be 2 files, the old 1 and mine.
what u think about that? and what i gotta do if i want it added there? write to michal?
-
This is a forum. If you post here with a question, then you should expect to be answered here. If someone wants to go out of their way to contact you via MSN, then fine... but you should not expect people to.
-
ITs nice but i like this better.
-
i meant that i wanted to get ur MSNs and that this would be answered here.
-
anyone who wants to give out their MSN has posted it in their forum profile
-
ok so tell me what i gotta do now?
-
I suggest reading the official sticky about the wiki here (http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=725.0).
If there are more questions about the wiki, feel free to put them there.
-
Its pretty cool it should replace the old 1
-
oh thx
-
ok ill add this to the wiki. but how to add a new font? coz i mainly used fonts only avaiable in Word 2007! the fonts were embedded in the file this means that you can see them in the .doc file but i dunno how 2 embedd them into a website?
-
Please don't double post, use the (http://forums.soldat.pl/Themes/Soldat/images/english/modify.gif) button to edit your last post. It keeps the forum cleaner. Thanks :)
-
oops sry man
-
a wiki isn't about flashy fonts and cool looks, it is about presenting the useful information in a very clear manner.
When it comes to a manual, people don't care about how it looks as much as how well it presents the information people need
-
Unfortunately, your manual doesn't add much to the one we already have except for some more interesting graphics. Not to mention the fact that its filesize is gigantic.
If there's anything you can do to improve the manual, it would be to make each section more descriptive and organized into its own page for easy viewing (ie. A scrollable navigation bar on the left with weapons, gamemodes, etc. as clickable links that change the window on the right). Other than that, there's nothing you can do.
