PLEASE NOTE: Heavy metal consists of all of all types of metal. Just some examples: Metalcore: BFMV, It dies today, Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium...etc (more modern metal). Death/balck is grunting/screaming metal... (like Children of Bodom, Kalmah, Cryptic Wintermoon, Cradle of Filth...) Alternative Rock applies to all rock bands which arn't hard rock, classic rock, gothic rock, punk rock..

Actually to be more clear, I like Metalcore + Screamo. The other genre that I like is NU metal which includes Linkin Park.

I'll be honest I love rock stuff, but I love chill stuff with the same passion. I grew up listening to classics from 50's - 70's on the radio and now I listen to alot of stuff. Stuff like Lagwagon, Stereolab, Beck, The Flaming Lips, Andrew WK, Switchfoot, Joe Christmas, also stuff like Norah Jones. Also I have a stream to a christian radio station I listen to alot cause I get tired of sifting through my music to find what I am feeling...

My favourite genre would be post-hardcore (alexisonfire, The Bled, The Fall of Troy, some Atreyu), but second comes classical....and I do like some emo. But then again....matters what you classify as emo. Some might think Simple plan and My chemical romance (I actually like a few songs by them) are emo, when they really aren't.

I agree with Dascoo on My Chemical Romance not being emo, people just look at them and assume, its clear that their music isn't emo, maybe a few songs here and there are emoish but not totally emo(To be honest alot of bands have a song or to with a little emo mixed in). Anyway the Black Parade is an awsome song :D

I certainly do. That's the label they're lending themselves to. Generally, when I see a group of men wearing matching all-black uniforms with a truckload of eyeliner, I can't help but think "Gee, those guys certainly look emo."

I resent the category "Dance/Techno". It's called EDM, short for Electronic Dance Music, the über-umbrella term for all music mainly made with synthesizers. Seriously. Look it up (http://www.di.fm/edmguide/edmguide.html).
So yeah, I'll say some basic artists I like. Daft Punk, Overseer, John Kelley, Aphrodite, DJ Zinc, Roni Size, Cut Chemist and I guess Basement Jaxx.

I have a great appreciation for all styles of music from Jazz and Hip-hop (eh..not so much) to Death Metal and Screamo. At the moment my top played on my Ipod are:

-Simon and Garfunkel (oldies never die!!)
-Rachmaninoff shiz (various arrangements, not too sure on names)

Speed/Power Metal, because thrash is probably closer to speed than to death/black, and German power metal can be listenable occasionally. Also because death metal is probably associated more with Gothenfaggotry and metalcore here.

Ok that's just creepy. I LOOOOVVVEEE In Flames (mainly older stuff, try Episode 666, Gyroscope, or Only for the Weak) and Sounds of Silence is an uber-pwnage song.
On top of that I like Amon Amarth, Rammstein, Lamb of God, that kind of stuff. (oh yah, and wumpscut)
Edit: I'm listening to trigger right now... from green to red our days pass bye and waiting for a sign to tell us why... are we dancing all alone. Collect some stars to shine for you, on such a day there are only a few. The sign of times my friend... great stuff

You cannot say "EDM" to everything electronic. The individual styles differ so much that one could like Trance (like me) but dislike Techno or Eurodance (like me)

This poll is quite stupid really. The options have a bias about them.
You have alot of subgenres of metal along with metal itself...
Whereas you've grouped rap and hiphop .. and most other genres into one option... so ultimately the metal fans votes are more spread out...
Why not simply have..
Rap / Hiphop (including garage, crunk etc)
Hard rock / Metal (including industrial, deathmetal, metalcore, hardcore, thrash etc)
Punk (including grunge ska etc)
Rock (including pop-rock, japanese rock, alt-rock etc)
Dance / Trance
Electro / Techno
Drum & Bass
Pop
Classical (including opera, orchestra, symphony etc)
Jazz
Reggae

Well it really is hard to say for me, Rock in general, but I also listen to some psychedelic music and some ska and reggae. But I can't go a day without listen to some type of metal song.
