Instant Gibbing (aka: One Hit Kill)

Update: Version 1.0 released!


Overview:

This is a simple, but fun mod I made in about three evenings; so about 2 hours a night.

I have been inspired by mods created for such games as UT2k4, Q3, and many other First Person Shooters, to create this mod for Soldat.

I have changed the following: Weapon-gfx, Sfx, Interface-gfx, Weapons.ini, Sparks-gfx, and Txt.

NOTE: The Spaz doesn't seem to work. I might iron it out in a later version, but for now its playable- I only had to change all the shotgun using bots to a different weapon :)

- All guns are a one hit kill.
- The Double Cannon, while it can punch through more people in a row, it has the longest reload time.
- The ION Cannon has a slightly longer reload time too- though not as long as the Double Cannon.

Each gun also has its own colour coded shell, though it doesn't always drop- any way to fix that so its 100% of the time?

Credits:

Weapons.ini: 100% Me.
Explosions: 100% Not done by me- can't find author. Removed because there are currently no explosions.
Weapons: 100% Loosely based on the Ruger77 from a futuristic weapons mod. Colouring done by me.
SFX: 100% None of my own, all credit goes to MechaSoldat author; Lord Ivahn
Interface: 100% A slightly modified version of 'cybernetic' by BUKKAKE - Used with permission.

its just the same weapon but diff colors. did you get permission from the original mod makers?

Please don't upload .jpgs. They make it hard to see the pixely goodness. Use .pngs next time please.

This mod looks like fun. I want it. Kinda reminds me of Quake 3 if everyone uses railguns.
If you disable secondaries, weapons 1, 5, 8,0 and the powerups, Soldat is perfectly balanced! :D
For the shotgun, make it so if most of the pellets hit, it's a kill.

No link on purpose- I'll edit it to take out the missleading comment(s).

I have had influences from other mods, I'm currently trying to find the authors and put the credits in the post.

It is rather fun against bots, and yes its my take on the Q3/UT2kx/etc instagib gametypes/mods

The scope is useless because the sheer weapons make it too fast paced to stay still. Also, for some reason at the moment the bullet for the barrett is invisible- I am sure I have done the same with all other weapons 'bullet' picture. Any ideas?
The secondarys are for 'just incase' but I'm not sure if they go- most other instagibs remove them, so...

The shotgun doesn't fire after I changed the bullet type to 1. Changing it to 3 (I think) is terrible- its way to overpowered. Basically makes it a large spread one-hit-kill gun. And if it didn't kill in one hit - if I lowered the dmg - then it wouldn't be much of an instagib gun.

Is there a way to make it only fire one pellet?

Powerups are all off, except grenades and clusters :)

Unfortunately,  spas must fire shotgun shells. However, to balance it, you could:

I was working on one of these...

Oh well, another project to scrap.

Edit: Eh? keron? Is that right? I must test!
And, also, spelling...

Edit 2: or was it intentional?

I think it looks good. but all weapons look similar so hard to see what your enemy is using I think

about your berret bullet problem...how big is the bullet? if its to big then it wont show up in game.

Thats the point.
Its the bullets you are supposed to watch out for- not the guns, the guns are only so you get to choose what colour you want to frag with.

about your berret bullet problem...how big is the bullet? if its to big then it wont show up in game.

Its rather large, but the same size as every other weapons. What is the maximum size for the barret bullet?

Keron: Still no luck with the shotgun, after fiddling with it.
I have already said I set the bullet style to 1, just like all the other guns, but it refused to fire.

Your default.txt file does not work with Soldat 1.4. The only text file you need is weapons.txt.
Do not include files you haven't modded. They just make the download bigger.

Otherwise, this mod is looking better and better.

Ah... I wasn't aware of that- though when I go into options and such after fiddling with default.txt the changes are applied.

I will also ammend the archive- removing everything I haven't changed.

Its a habbit, really- I try to make sure I have every file necessary, because I don't know what I might decided to change next. :)

why did you get rid of the secondaries?

No other instagib mod for any game has secondarys, nor anything but the instagib weapons.

Perhaps I should make a poll?

looking good.

the stealth cannon seems kind of odd though.

shotgun bullets and arrows will show up if you use them on the M79.

the arrow acts just like a regular bullet but it sticks in walls.

V0.3 is out!

Let me know what you think of the new interface guns!

Also, do people want secondaries? Possibly grenades?

Another update! Been a while, but there you go.

I've only tweaked a few minor things, mostly graphical.

I don't think there is much/any work left to do on this project, plus I am moving onto other mod ideas, so I have relased it as Ver 1.0.

Do leave any suggestions/ideas/etc. :)

You known? Peple like more Fullmods than partials because living in game or HD longer, so if you want make something popular, try something full and bigger with max completed theme. This is nice addition to the style of playing Soldat, I try host sometimes dedicated server with this, because offline isn't that much funny. :P

Well, I have actually been fiddling around with Gosteks and kits... I may yet release them, but I want to get them right before I post anything else.

The lack of intrest was a bit off-putting too, but that can't be helped :)

As for the shotgun, I suggest insta-gib with ridicoclously slow bullets, so it's like you can spit further than the bullets travel, but if ya'll catch a chance from above, you can have a nice multikill with a shot.

And the M79 slot - well, ya can give it damage 0, if it hits directly, it's still an instant-kill, if you barely miss, you at least get the explosion effect thing.
