Poll for topic!
Basic concept, anything to X out the team colors so that you can see yours, and other players colors amongst whatever else may be modded to their in game person. Original suggestion was maybe team colored arm bands/ whatever other piece of small enough to see your own colors but big enough to be seen clothing idea. Or team over head icons, which if it were to go that route then I'd have to say it couldn't be anything bulky, it would look stupid, maybe just a little red or blue dot over the heads of allies and yourself. So basically just anything to rid the team colors as you are almost always on teams and can't see your own colors/ just get tired of seeing red and blue. Once that were out of the way it would ultimately allow others to see your colors, add to diversity and customization , and just a better look when you get to choose. Or so I think, plz support!
-
Yeah that would be nice. Team mates must have an icon over their head so you don't nade them when they are behind a bush. And less color on your guy so you can use camouflage.

-
Agree. That would be very nice. Maybe team colored helmet? But not everyone wear helmets.
-
I'd like the team icon and the one-part team color suggestions.
It's also been suggested (the team icon, that is) in the thread dealing with colorblindness.
F12.

Or maybe all sleeves should be in team color.
-
u should be able to do this with helmets too. it would be cool for clans to have a member with a medic helmet instead of a hat.
-
...like me, if we were playing in a mod with a medical-type weapon.
-
This idea with the armbands would be pretty cool. So you could have a dark green torso instead of bright read, way better for TWs.
-
Me likes! It really sucks trying to camp with a bright red....... I mean..... I would realy like to be dark green thats all. *Looks again at first post* You wouldnt happen to be pox from the 40k forums now would you?

Nope only PoX on soldat but I am happy there is positive reaction to my idea though I thought it was something simple but hand none the less. Keep it coming!

Unneeded, and I'd rather have a bunny ears, come on guys, bunny ears!
-
Ha! I can't count the myriad of times I accidently bombed my team members. I dunno about the arm bands, but the over-the-head icon seems kinda cool. Still, I agree with the points made.

Yeah I understand what you were saying because as I like to play as a sniper from time to time I've been hit quite a few times mistaken as the enemy. Though the arm bands or icons couldn't really save you from that as normally your behind a bush or similar hiding place anyways, or so I'd hope wouldn't make a very good sniper in plain view. Anyways maybe it doen't have to be an arm band, it could be something a bit more visible like the overhead icon just anything to help rid the same old same old red blue, I want my own colors damnit! LOL :)[

And I just threw in a poll so if you like the idea or would be behind similar idea plz support it and vote. And plz read original topic before voting, thnx.
-
Uhm.....No...I think if I couldn't see your shirt as my own colour then only an armband would suck even more, ne?
Over the head icons for team mates would be cool, as said in the color blindness topic. (as an option next to "player indicator", "Team mate indicator")
-
In real...(yea I know that Soldat is not very realistic game). So, in real, soldiers can only guess that is the guy they see is their friend or not. They have got plan and sometimes they shoot friends because they went to far etc.

Just look a bit at men who you are bombing.
"Over the head" icons over all your teammates heads would make Soldat f**kin' less realistic than it is now, so I propose compromise. There should be "over the head" icons but it should be turned on in options menu, the same with arm bands.
-
Definatly, %100 support for the Team Indicator via an icon over their heads. Not so much for coloured arm bands: that would be real hard to see in windowed mode, no?
-
Team indicator icons yes, armbands no.

Hm...like the secondary colors on the Halo 2 multiplayer character models. Not a bad idea.

GREAT idea
-
Ok so it seems the arm bands are a little touchy and hey thats fine, I'm brain storming here. Maybe the icons over head would be better then, or anything similar, just anything to break the same old team colors.
-
I think it should be like your team has armbands or icons over head but your enemy gets to wear whatever color clothes they are going to wear! Like if I have all OD (olive drab) clothes seclected then the enemy would see me as all olive drab but my team would see me wearing a X(Xbeing color) shirt or some icon over my head. I think it would add a new element to the game and make it harder to spot enemies just like in real wars/battles. Hell, maybe MM can put some camo pants in there for us to wear instead of solid colors.
-
Ooh, good idea Waffles.
However, that'd require a LOT of new gosteks.
-
team indicator icon yes
armbands...no
let alone the fact that a blue guy with blood on him is gonna be hard to tell from a red guy, it's also too small. especially on chaos maps like kamp with like 16 players, you won't have much time trying to tell what color a little stripe is
-
I think arm bands should be in realistic mode, so that itll be kinda like in real life.

also, about the team indicator, would it show the team of the enemy too? if it does, itll give away the position of a soldier trying to hide...

Nah, not for the enemy just for fellow allies. Armbands only in realistic.... well maybe but I was thinking of something to actually get rid of team colors all together. Like I said before, maybe not arm bands, as icons are seeming to be favored or whatever else similar. Just whatever to see my own colors and have others see it.
-
The reason I don't like the idea of armbands is then a guy on Blue Team could have red pants, a red shirt, a red hat, and be bloodstained, with only a few pixels of blue showing. Oh, and don't forget the red skin too if they're using the Color Changer. It'd just be too hard to tell.
-
I like both ideas, teammate overhead indicators and coloured armbands instead of coloured shirt and helmet. I we someday get the way to change player appearance in server scripts, we could easily deal with those who use red or blue clothes on the wrong team.

right right, I see what your saying but there is still the idea of overhead icons, or anything else similar
The arm bands were just an initial thought, one I still like, but maybe not the best one, next on the list being the icons, but if anyone else has a suggestion as to something that would work better and still allow players to have their own colors, well bring it up, that what this topic is all about.

^^^ good point
wouldn't it be a bit hard to tell who was on your team quickly with the armbands =/ because of the size they'd be, but the team indicators could be ok :)

Sigh.... yes. I've already commented on this early in this thread, plz read before posting.

Out of curiosity about how often do the improvements suggestions really get put into the game? Just wondering if that is almost never or if it actually is in consideration alot.
-
Pretty much never.
-
Its red and blue... is any one in the fking world having trouble with knowing whos on your team and who isnt... i just dont see the point in this.
-
I agree. The system's fine as it is, really. No need for change. besides, F3nyx brought up an excellent point right there.
Also, about wether or not the suggestions forum is actually ever brought up for consideration. Well, it is. Top guys say they look through these topics and consider things quite a lot. Problem is, there's so many stupid ideas about vehicles, commands, gamemodes etc., that's practically impossimple to implement. Not to mention, completely uninterresting.
-
Echo is right yet again

WOW... Thats because you just totally missed the point, I'm not talking about making it easier for people to see their team's. I'm talking about actually allowing you to see your own customizations to your colors by scraping the whole red and blue color thing, especially in 1.4 now that it has spread to pants. I mean really, wow, did you even read the topic? Scraping it and replacing it with say team icons or armbands or whatever else similar. Note to posters, read before posting :)

got half way thru and realize it was pointless
-
best idea ever....pikachew masks!
-
I love camoflage, so... F12

BTW, thats pikachu

I say that everyone in your team should be a bright color corresponding the team (alphas are red, bravos are blue etc) but only for you. The other team looks like they've dressed themselves up so you can still have camo but see your teammates... Same for everyone else...
Nah. Maybe not. What if someone dresses themselves completely blue? Bravos wouldn't see it coming. I say icon over the head, but you should be able to disable it.
-

That would be so fucking awesome.
-
Maybe even an icon (5x5 or s.th.), which will be sent to the clients, so you could not only set a color, but a more distinguishing little armband motive! Good idea?
-
Ok, its obvious to see where this has moved and maybe icons are the only solution. That or make it to where the other team only appears to be a different color and you can still see your own and they can see their? Hmm well it seems to be the most popular ideas. So maybe someone would like to build on these or maybe suggest options to go alone with it? I see the problems with arm bands but in favor of them maybe it could be an option or even just a good mod.
-
Team Armbands + Icon or teammates :]
This way, people can use camo :P

Yes, you wont see him because of some small pixels on his arm, right... -.-
-
Agree, that would be very nice
