The Lazarus Project

...::Story::...
In 2054 scientists delved deep into a realm that was never meant to be explored... a realm that exists within all.

The Lazarus project was originally a series of genetic experiments with human genes, just another attempt for men to play god. The original project was unsuccessful, but what followed resulted in more than anyone expected.

The scientists delved deeper into the human gene code, distorting and mutatingDNA into a unrecognizable form. The final result... a rogue gene that found its own means to sustain and survive...

For years the rogue gene continued to mutate and evolve in the human hosts. IUt multiplied rapidly and spread, invisible, to more and more people, the symptomjs hadn't showed.... yet.

Then during the final stages of The Lazarus Project the gene started to take its toll, its own creators started to suffer.... vomiting, deleria, gutwrenching pain in limbs. This was just the beginning of a horrifying process. The gene had transformed itself into a virus organism, capable of multiplying and spreading via any contact with infected people.

Fearing that this was a chemical attack, the goverment quarintined the infected scientists. Then was the first time anyone saw the final effect of thje Lazarus Virus. The scientists deformed and mutated into an unhumanly state, the goverment put a quick end to their suffering.

But the Lazarus lived on, it was passed on to the people who had come into contact with the scientists before the quaratining. These victims experienced the full transformation that  the virus caused. After days of suffering the victims finally emerged, not as humans, but as a new terrifying species, the Androthid mutants.

The Androthids went unnoticed for several months, only preying on stray victims, sometimes ripping them limb from limb, other times passing on the virus and transforming them into one of their own.

By the time a vaccine was developed it was too late, the virus and mutants were ravging smaller towns and sometimes attacking larger cities. Those who fought back the mutants without the vaccine quickly fell victim to the virus, adding to the ever growing infestation.

In the end the entire countryside was infested and controlled by the mutants, entire cities were leveled by the goverments attempts to stop the virus. Soon the only resistance were vaccinated citizens and special anti-mutant squads formed by the goverment.

Now, the remaining miltary and citizens must do there best to survive the scourge. Mankinds priorities have changed from money to survival...

Mankind is now the new endangered species.

Interesting, sounds like a new way to play Zombie matches.

Yes, one is still in progress, will be like this:

But I try bigger extended to few areas/levels at one map. With invisible polygons is possible jump-control, so cause this situation, where immpossible enjoy map faster at shourtcuts with high jumps, minigun, nade or m79 jumps.
But in mod can be added maps from various artist, because this is open project, as cotribute pack idea, where's lazarus vesrion with weapons and other stuff from another modders.

Yes, We release VA pack soon with your and others gun (like addon, expansion etc.), for the truth I finished this at 4 am, mainly because interface and kits, I wanted release Strategic weapon mod, but I failed with this and go to bed.

Ok, I will start at this in balance. Weapons can be weak, have low ammo, long reload. ;) More details can be in Partial topic as requests, beta testing, samples or another, this for disscus actual version of mod/additions, props of improvements, bugs, just about finished works.
Btw, I posted this mod too at http://elitectf.com because nice and popular Elite Zombie server :P

My ideas for strategic mode:

Firewall- for m79 fires 5 grenades very short distance to form a defensive barrier.
AV injector- Fires 1 shot before reload
SMG- More bullets, shorter ranger and weaker.
Avenger- Long reload, faster ROF,
Minigun- Unaccurate, less damge
Skarab- Longer Reload,

First at all, most immportant thing! Every weapons can't be one-hit kill in Strategic, you must hit by 2-3-4-5 or more bullets (close range weapons, non-auto) - (automatic weapons minimal 10 bullets limit or more) for close range or headshot.
1 Acid Launcher: weaker, can kill by 4 shots (in close contact or by headshot), 6 ammo amount, longer reload, more interval.

4 Griever MG: still 20 bullets, a bit weaker, more interval and bigger reload, but increased speed just a little.

7 Tahoma GL: 4 grenades but bigger damage than Dogma RL (240¬  max damage to prevent one-hit kill?), bigger interval and reload), little smaller speed than RL.

8 AV Injector: 1 shots but longer waiting time before shoot (you still must push fire button before shot), also half damage and 3/4 actual speed.

9 Plasma Gun: smaller damage, smaller interval, increased speed, decreased ammo to 15.

*4 Dogma RL: 5 rockets, smaller damage (220 max damage to prevent one-hit kill?), bigger interval, smaller reload, bigger speed than GL.

Ok henito, i get what your saying. But I think strategic mode should mean that each weapon has a specific role, either offense or defense. So GL is defensive barrier, minigun is support, AV is sniper (long reload) etc...

Also made a basic bot pack, with updated names colours etc... so add onto main post.

This and SAC are 2 very different mods. This is a balance/zombie game mod designed specifically for that. Like i said earlier the interface guns are nice, but everything else is awesome!!

In SAC the interface guns are the best bit, ytou can judge it by the screenshots, but this mod you gotta test out before rating

PLUS!!: its wicked fun to play!! Try out on a nice map with 3 teamies and 15 zombies on teams, its challenging but the weps make it worth it!

ALL this for less than 3mb!!¬  :o

Ok, ok, just suggest few settings, but this still allow to, what you say defense or offense like defensives, supports etc, I just want none of weapon overpowered ;)

Added below mod DL, I think, you can add several zombies with different skin color, not only green, outfits and some weapons, not all zombies are mindless idiots, Lazarus virus not affect intelligence, just change it to another priorites: eating, spreading, mutating, killing and surviving instinct.

it's a good mod, really love the whole look of it though you could have given more attention at some weapons' outlines and i think the acid rifle is way too powerful. best thing is you've really left a lot of space for other stuff, lookin forward to extensions and updates!

1st priority are new weapons mod balance, Strategic and new, better interface because this just temporary (except moveable bars, they can stay, only arrow, crosshair, indicator, health, ammo, jet need to be fixed), so I make improved version later, maybe maps and additional reg interface.

I still making map/s but soon I post new weapons.
Also I have sp_Dream in making, sequel will be sp_Nightmare, later maybe remake Fallendawn as sp_Queen of Shadows, for Lazarus series I plaining second map like sp_Acid Fury/Almemy, sp_They Forgotten or remake my inf_Eusha map.

I finished updating certain files like a few improved sfx, balanced .ini and menu gfx for update, we also need to convert current .ini to 1.4.1. I also made my first ever stat gun. Looks really good ingame.

Aaaaaww, almost half sceneries done/shaded/colorised, I can make map in 1-2-3 hours in polygons part but sceneries! It's real lazy work for me.
Btw, I started works at some zombie weapons, I'll show they soon, now I trying to improve my FEAR mod, so I must take part of time for Lazarus and part for this, that why it's irregulary, additionaly I trying to make nice gostek pack for every player/modder not smaller than 10-15-20 gosteks ;)
After these 2 mods I try post nice modding tutorial/manual.

Ok, map will be released seperately, I try some other things like sounds, weapons, professional interface, few small additions to gosteks... I think we can start working on contribution pack or addon, when new version will be released.
I trying to implement boss fights in Soldat by map (revived, previous NTEC experiments like multi-species and fire elemental Moira, morphoidable creature and water elemental Proteo, killing machine and death elemental Thnat).

Ok, I found, how to make boss mode in Soldat, for example, to kill Moira, you need big stream of water, killing Proteo by stream of fire, Thnat by acid. This will be three big rooms with hard/extremely hard climbing part per one boss in 9 sectors per one room. Also I try make three different endings, two regular + one hidden >;>
Btw, Moira is ultimate boss in sp_Lazarus, she's similiar as Nemesis from RE due to regen skills.
So my progress in sceneries:
-civilian house... done
-school... almost done
-weapon shop... not done
-bar/food shop... not done
-hospital... not done
-NTEC labolatory... not done
-boss mode... not done

No guarantees that it will be used, maybe added as a replacement wepaon, or if we make a larger or different mod,


Henito, i just wanted to know how we are going to make fire streams and acid streams, and how the bosses will be used, they must be bots but bots use differnet weps, not only a specific one. But it sounds cool, i thhink i will understand better once released

News on Update: BAlanced minigun and Acid Rifle, new sounds for some weps, new muzzle flash, new stat. Anything else?

This just be static hurt, lava or deadly/bloody deadly polys as projectiles, everywhere platforms, some fake, player must jump into platform with fire-water-acid ativator, boss will be similiar static image+polygon and additional image when be hurted by element (water, fire, aid) in similiar location as element activator... climbing, climbing and once again hard climbing will be as fighting with boss. Bots will be spawned around all battle arena.
Endings will be big images and... a way to two flags to finish map, three different ways to flags, but...
Main priority objective after killing all for AMS is survive and get out the city. Only you, one man survived, your team member are dead,so you dont have choice.

For update: Maps, new weapon balance, updated and improved gfx, new sounds for some guns, more professional interface.

The next chapter will be "Evo", where zombies create imitation weapons, so it will be bio-organic weaponry. This might come after we make an add-on pack with alternative weapons and contributions frrom other modders etc...

AMS units are vaccinated so can't turn into zombie when infected, but still can mutating in terrible way, so Lazarus virus first must kill them to get full control and revive as zombie. Normal human when infected transfrom into zombie by hours, minutes, so this is different than AMS/vaccinated people because their first must be killed to become zombie. Mutations can be removed by Antivirus (in health kits).

NTEC = Necromancide Technology Corporation, well Necro is best music for zombie matches so I get name from it.
Ok, will be added, but in VA addon.
This map will be for seperate download as one single player campaign (several levels in one map). For addition, you can post sample map or just sceneries. That what I make is reserved for sp_Lazarus. Additional maps or sceneries will be put into base set or if filesize of mod is too big... released in addon. I think about special, bonus areas or just more than 1 map so if you want post it.

about the weapons:

Temp3st, upgrade a little bit yours... plzzzzzzzzzz
if you upgrade the mod wil be great
upgrade Draleov Skrab Avenger and thor, try to do similar to henito :)

This isnt too red just that kind of wooden, who really can be exist, but not common/popular in weapons. Shading - what I can say, removing?, when you coloring lines in similiar way as shading.

1 I have dark monitor, I cant change it to better in any way, so always colors of my weapons are little lighter in real.
2 In fact I wanted this to be all blue, then I changed to red, last only few parts are woodenish.
3 Previously red parts have been moved to make all weapon from metal.
4 This is intense varnish? Or wooden highly saturated with special paint to get best permanence of wooden.

Skykanden, i also like the thor. Everything so far looks good ingame.

Henito, i removed shells for acid rifle and plasma gun, also makde the griever shells normal colour. I removed clip for acid rifle, it all looks better.

So Acid Rifle is always filled its immpossible to get empty, this can be looking strange. ::)
Griever fire with blue-navy 30 to 40 mm bullets, so you maked normal color? what? yellow?
Acid is liquid substance, plasma not exactly, but half liquid so there's beads, gushes, streams outside weapon.

WTF!? Acid Rifle have 4 mags, from one side - two, from another - two, almost every plasma gun and Acid Rifle have square shells, this imitate rounded in Soldat scale but... Griever? Did you missed something?
Griever bullet, lower is empty shell without bullet and not squareish this isn't plasma gun!

Oh well, didn't understand a word of what you said. We'll keep those things unchanged, ok?

I'll post updated files from me, all you need to do is copy the .ini into the 1.4.1 weapons .ini file, since i did it in 1.4 . I will post all files, so just delete the blank shells and clips for griever, plasma and acid rifle.

I recomend you upload a full mod agian, bot just updated files and take a new screenshot.

Also for the sub-text after topic title say something about importatnt update, major changes etc. for V1.1.

Looking back, I'd point that the only weapons that I think need fixing were the Acid Rifle and Tahoma GL, because, well, on the AV it seems kinda...gradient shaded. Which gives a weird flat look. Same with the GL, the [I assume] wooden stock is also gradient shaded and doesn't have the proper woody texture-feel. I'd point ya to FBM's WWII TCS mod's wooden textures.

@espadon, tahts the only prolem with colabs, the weapons will look very different and in different styles, each style is unique, i like henito's simple style, it works well ingame.

No, gradient is pretty different than this what I using. Gradient is simple pixel by pixel, this is changeable, morphoidal shading, I have another shading technic for wooden, another for metal, another for plastic, so thinking is only gradient is very naive theory. Acid Rifle is special material, similiar to plastic but resistant to acid so looking correct. Tahoma is as is, wooden, but not similiar to another mods. My style is original, never based at any existing modding style, so technic for drawing wooden textures is different, so dont compare this to TCS because it's immpossible for that. If you looking at other modder style and like it , maybe so much then later is not exactly possible to make objective or neutral opinion about another modding style and always thinking like: this is only gradient, this isn't wooden, this isn't metal. I known this "thing" not only from Soldat mods, every game have this in modding communities. Never compare, only in few exceptions, every modder is different, not good or bad, better or worster.

Only sceneries, because I still testing map, in style "this biulding will be there, this there, additional floor or bigger house/building, also bonus section, so I experimenting with map layout in beatable/difficult way like how easy you can fininish map, just gameplay balancing, improving, testing, before release.

Some info about  VA addon pack:

- You can post gosteks or weapons

- 4 weapons from original mod must stay.

- Max 10 weapons in addon.

- Max 5~ 10 modders for casting (when number of weapons is smaller than 10 and in addon work).

- Max 2 weapons per modder.

- Max gosteks posted by 1 modder= 2 (player team Alpha -> Gosteks-gfx, monster team Bravo -> Gosteks-gfx/Team2).

- Only 1 gostek per team (Player or Monster).

- We dont promise, that your weapon/gostek will be used in addon pack, doesn't matter, if you are first or last.

- Sometimes, posting weapon with weapons-gfx, sfx and your .ini weapon mod proposition increase chance to see your weapon in addon pack, Various Artist aka Viral Annihilation.

- Creators of Lazarus Project cant post weapons/gosteks for addon because this is contribution pack, not upgrade to original mod, it's official, but this is work of other modders, We can just add missing files like weapons-gfx, weapon mod and sfx and pack this for final release if author of weapon not posted required files.

I remind someone that idea of Contribution Pack, Lazarus: Viral Annihilation addon is still alive. If everything goes in the right way, is really possible new version of mod in first months of new year 2008. Probably, after that, work in progress on the sequel can be started with public beta available.

Not exactly, this weapon is intended to work like that, not like weapon related to acid spray or rain (see acid sprayer in Mecha mod for example and other mods, more like acid bullets, more compatible in multiplayer, online games, without mod at default servers this can be just ugly.
Also Lazarus isn't dead yet, not because there's no¬  longer Temp3st active in this project this time.

I would like it to be a massive mod. Fun and flawless.

The idea for bio weps in my mind is based around a heavily mutated, living and evolved extension of the body. Maybe for zombies?

And the counter-offense will be some new anti-virus weapons. Im thnking some slick and sleek looking weapons.

(I have said this without consulting henito in full, but this is what we had planned, if i remember correctly)

Yes, weapons from other modders will be appreciated. If we can get one look and style going we can have more weapons.

My idea of weapons: A bio-mechanical or fully bio weapon similar to that found in Prey.
