Title: "could not save setings"
Post by: o0 me 0o on June 11, 2007, 04:52:14 pm
When i do pretty much anything on the starting game menu thing, including the server list it pops up with something that says "could not save settings" and it wont let me start a game...can anyone tell whats wrong? ???
and when i try to start my own game it pops up with error message that says "could not create file C:/soldat/mapslist.txt."

Are you running Windows Vista? If so make sure the Soldat.exe has administrator permission.
Or it be an anti-virus protection thing.

So if you could post more about your computer. It might help us solve this issue.:
what OS you're using
Do you have admin rights
what kind of anti-virus protection
etc

Well that might be the cause. If it works on your bros account and not the others then it might be that you don't have enough permission. Log in with the admin account and give yours more access/permission.

Try moving the Soldat folder to your desktop and running it from there.

Normally the admin account is the one that was created when installing the operating system or the one that is already there when buying a computer. Maybe your bros account is the admin account.

AFAIK, under windows XP you need to have administrator privileges.

Would it work in your "My Documents"-folder? Every user (except Guest) gets one of those folders for themselves. From like, C:\Soldat\ it may not work if you're not admin.

People, it makes no difference where he tries to install it from, unless he has an administrator he will be unable to install Soldat. So it looks like you're out of look until you can get access to an admin account.

Same thing happened to me when i restored my system.

*Uninstall Soldat
*Delete folder
*Install Soldat

And it should work again. First, get admin <.<

Thanks for searching instead of making a new topic.
