A useful feature of these forums that I've started using more lately is the Notify feature for threads and boards. If you have a thread you post regarding a problem you're having or just something else that has a sense of urgency (or you just want to know when someone posts), click the Notify button:
This will ask you if you want to enable e-mail notifications when there are new posts to this thread (as well as if it is moved/deleted/locked). I've found that this helps me keep track of a lot of things I'd otherwise miss, in my case threads related to larger Soldat/server/lobby/BE issues.
Similarly, you can enable notifications on entire boards by clicking that same button when you're looking at the index of a board. This will let you know when there are new threads posted.
It can be extremely easy to look over this button, but if you have any use for it at all I definitely suggest you try it out. I've been using it for about 10 threads lately at any given time, and the amount of e-mail is not annoying. As some of you might know if you've been here or on other forums for a while, it e-mails you once when there's a new post, but doesn't e-mail you about every new post after that until you visit the thread (while logged in).

I hate using that feature.
When threads get popular, your email box gets filled.
-
I've set it to automatically email me when a new thread pops up in the news section, cause thats usually something big, but other than that I don't use is. I can usually keep track of my own threads :P

so then you can unsubscribe

I check these forums more often then my email, you guys should start planning an intervention.
-
I'm sure we could arrange a little vacation for you, if you like.
-
I'm confused. Divine intervention or intervention-intervention?
I really don't subscibe to anything, but if a thread in The Lounge becomes important enough for me to subscribe to it, I will. So far, nothing.

Hehe... That's the stuff :D
Anyway, I'd love to use this feature, but I as well check this place out more often than my e-mail. I definitely think it's a cool feature, and I can totally understand peops who actually use it. As for my part, I'd be better of with a "personal message reminder" instead. Think it'd be possible?

Maybe, I'll chalk that up on my "some day I'll try to add these things" list
-
at the bottom of that list happens to be posting that list here in a sticky.

Some day? My friend the only way you will ever get anything done is if you somehow have a son and he follows in your footsteps to become the first second generation admin of these forums. Thus giving him an all access pass to the mountains of requests that have been met with the words "Some day." Then again you might just be to busy for sex anyway.

It's particularly useful in the 'need help' forum.

Maybe I'll start up a sticky of those things, that's not a bad idea. To be honest there is no list, I just intend to some day search the support forums for posts by me containing the words "to-do" and/or "list" and start working on whatever I see first ;)
I'll make a sticky about it now, I've got nothing better to do

And you just said you don't have time for echo's idea... I see through your game....

There's a big difference between "spending hours learning how the internals of the forum work, then spending more hours coding and testing something that won't break the forum" versus "spending 45 minutes creating a list while waiting for some other stuff to finish" ;)

Oh how I wish I could believe that lie, this isn't Fantasy Island! This is the real, gritty, hardcore soldat forums!

I can plunk down thousands of dollars to live FLAB's fantasy camp for 24 hours.
