Okay kids. I know someone made a thread a million years ago regarding what instruments you play....so rather then bumping that thread, I'm just making a new one....so what do you play, and how well do you play?
I play Bass guitarĀ ;D
-
I play drums, I got a spanky new Tama Imperialstar kit for my birthday.
That shit is cool.
-
I can amateurly play the ukulele, the recorder, and the marimba, though I play better at the marimba.
-
I play Soldat ;D
Ontopic: I'm a total music lame. I was thinking about learning how to play a guitar but then...
It's too late for my 16 year old bones :-\
-
A little bass, a little keyboard, and a decent harmonica.
-
Been playing drums for about 4 years by now.

i dont play any.
But i want to try on keyboard
-
Used to play bass. Dont anymore though.
-
I play trombone in my school band.
I also know how to work a few drum machines.
-
Guitar, but only acoustic.
-
I can bash my fingers on a piano and create sound. thats about it for my musical talent.
-
I can do awesome solos while playing a soldat.
-
I am good at making strange noises with most anything I touch. My buddy hooked up a WAH pedal to a keyboard and we jammed out once... that was classic.
-
I don't have any musical talent... I'm lame.
-
Dude. If you don't play an instrument - you better sign up for color guard or something - marching band is an awesome group to be a part of.
-
I've been playing bagpipes for a little more than two years now. Aside from what you may think, it's a cool instrument (and one of the hardest to play, physically and rhythmically).
Here's an example of the sheet music I go through: The Camerionian Rant (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v24/IrocZ500/?action=view¤t=Picture11.jpg). I would've scanned it but it's being uncooperative...
I hated marching band. Every form of authority is completely anal, and it's not fun to be in uniform in the middle of August for 6 or 7 hours at a time.
-
Jam Sessions on the DS ;)
Real intruments I've played on are drums, piano, guitar and bass but only in music classes(and I had one performance in front of 200+ people). Bass was my favourite :P
-
I love my Piano and I've finished it up to 8th grade (performance level). Now its just all for fun and a nice accompaniment to my singing.

Total bull**** ;) I know 2 persons from my school who have started playing guitar alot later. The other one is 28 years old at the moment, started playing when he was 25, and the other one is 23 who started playing at the age of 20.
It is not when you start playing, but what you start playing. For example if you strat playing songs from abnds like Iron maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, and such, you can play them for like 6 years until you can say you know something. Or, then play some Jazz. Once year, and you will learn alot more than with 6 years of rock/metal. ;) Though, the numbers are out-from-the-hat, but you should get what I mean. Sure the jazz is alot harder and more technical overall, but with that you also learn the techniques.
Oh, and I do not play anything, though I have a guitar (Or actually 2 guitars, electric and acoustic). I play the electric whenever I am bored, so once a month for 5-30 minutes. I can not play almost anything, but I just open some tabs and try to play them. After a while I get the feeling that "This aint for me.", and then I start doing something else, and whoom, I am not bored anymore. :P

Yeah I had to do that a couple of week ago, cus I promised I'd play with my dad infront of a whole bunch of people :P
-
I've been playing drums for less than a year and I'm already getting very positive feedback... weekly.
Double bassdrums FTW.
-
A little bass, a little keyboard, and a decent harmonica.
How long you played mouth harp? Quite an avid fan myself
-
At the moment my main instrument is guitar but I played bass earlier for some years and can play it also. Piano I can play still even though haven't played it seriously for many years anymore. Violin also but that I wouldn't count as playing since I can play only few basic things.
-
electric guitars
classical guitars
electric bass
greek bouzouki
tin whistle
irish flute
uilleann bagpipes
bodhran
ukulele
banjo
fiddle
I play them all pretty well, and I play a fusion of traditional Celtic folk music, black metal, drone doom, and dark ambient music. (http://magmell.llsc.us/ - http://magmell.llsc.us/manoffamine.mp3 + http://magmell.llsc.us/track8.mp3 for something more classical??)
I used to play a bunch of other instruments like the Tenor and Bass saxophone, but the ones above are all that I play regularly.

-
Acustic and Electric Guitar.

-
Guitar.
3 years.
Good enough to be in a shitty band, I suppose.
-
I've been playing bass guitar for about 2 years, piano for about 5 years and electric guitar for 8 months-ish. I plan on buying a violin soon and learning to play that.
-
I have a Guitar and a Harmonica, I can't play either.
-
Guitar, piano, saxophone, drums. Moderatley well, very well, very well, and terribly, in that order.
-
I can play the electric guitar better than anyone else in the world that ever existed or will ever exist.
Including Mar77a.
-
Electric Guitar
since the 12 years old
-
I've been playing guitar for about six years now. I've got an electric, 6 string acoustic, 12 string acoustic, and a classical guitar. I payed for most of them, so I've sunk a lot of money into it. I'm in a band and we play blues rock, classic rock, and progressive rock. I can pretty much play anything you put in front of me.
I can also play drums, but I'm really bad at it, and I'm learning piano. I do most of the songwriting for my band, so all of my time outside of school, parties, and Soldat I'm playing music.

I can kick your ass.
-
Frets on fire is the only thing close to music, that I know how to play.
-
I play Electric Guitar and Piano. Piano owns if you know how to play.

No, the piano does not own. The piano is awesome in loads of aspects, but it does not own. Please don't say that anymore, it's quite retarded.
-
NEVER! It does own. Its aspects is what makes it own.

I agree!
I play guitar, bass, and piano on my own time but I play sax in our school's marching band.
-

Shoulda known it was that pink floyd loving bastard lol

Same here Blues. Show me what you got, punk.
I assume you mean diatonic too. Go for any specific brand?
-
I'm quite a beginner with the Irish Tin Whistle. I know such classics as Danny Boy and am learning The Silver Spear as well, it's not 100%. Not bad for having a whistle for about 2 weeks, eh? n00bface has got me intrigued enough to try to get my hands on uilleann bagpipes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aF3fW4Nox9U) which sound amazing and are also a traditional Irish instrument (not to be confused with Scottish bagpipes).
Link leads to a sample of Uilleann Bagpipe playing in which Seamus Ennis plays for your enjoyment. He is commonly known as the god of the Uilleann pipes.
-
I used to learn how to play the piano, but I quite out of my frustration because I couldn't learn because I was impatient. Now I regret that.

I don't have any recording equipment, sorry there.
I don't have a specific brand, my dad just gave me a random one and I decided to learn to play it.

That's quite nice. I'll make a recording in either a few minutes or later tomorrow.
-
uilleann bagpipes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aF3fW4Nox9U)
That is mind-blowingly good.
-
I threw together a short and slightly mediocre improvisational mp3 for your listening pleasure. It'd be better if I had recording equipment other then a webcam, or maybe an amp better than my 15w Toneblaster

Glad I got you interested in the Uilleann pipes, krypt!
Here's a couple of other sweet videos - I'm learning both of these songs right now. Doinna is the easiest of the two, but the embellishments are a million times harder than what Mikie is doing in Downfall of Paris.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0KQTv8qvkE - Doinna
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZF8uHVu4Res - Downfall of Paris
Most emotional instrument in traditional folk music for sure, as Doinna proves!!
Here are my pretty pipes :)

The picture is from back in January. I've got regulators now!
