Title: FPS issues
Post by: phaylanx on October 02, 2007, 12:53:30 pm
This just happened to me in the past few days,  my FPS drops everytime alot of things happen on the screen (example: two people fight).   I've been asking people with similar issues, and it seems to be happening with people that are running soldat in fullscreen, with all the settings maxed for the best appearance and gameplay.  Any help would be appreciated, it makes the game frustrating.  I'm sure I'm not the only person with this issue.

Oh and i have already deleted soldat, and reinstalled (with restarts in between).  I also updated my gpu's drivers, completely gone over all spyware and made sure i have 30gb of free hardrive space lol.

heres the screens, note the fps in the top right hand corner.

You're aren't alone.  A lot people have been having this problem.  I'm sure MM is aware of it, but I don't know if he'll do anything.

The reason is that your computer is not compatible with the max settings. Try using medium or low settings.

Yes, yesterday while I was playing a 3v3 match I was freezing every 10 or so seconds. The computer had barely anything open but soldat (not like it plays it's best when it's alone.) and it was driving me nuts. I ended up closing some small programs and it got better on the next map. I only froze 5 times or so. Next map after that I was getting no freezes at all. Then finally the last map, there was an announcement of BattleEye restarting, and everyone in the server was lagging, everything was going in slow motion and then quick and it was hard to control yourself because everything was happening slow.. then fast to catch up.

Try spyware and virus scans, and maybe consider defragging your hard drive(s).

LOL theres no ploblem with our computers, its BE which is causing all our ploblems

It was merely a suggestion to help improve the speed, which could solve the problem by itself.

Then try something called "Overclocking your CPU or graphics card"

PS: Isn't the name Biscuiteer a name of a car?

The reason is that your computer is not compatible with the max settings. Try using medium or low settings.

My computer is more than powerful enough to run Halflife 2 and its mods, so that isn't the problem.  like i said, this just started.  I've tried the lowest settings and it still has the same problem.  I'm starting to think this is battle eye related related...  but how do i fix it lol

Like i said, Overclock your PC. thats how i turned my 1.6ghz cpu to 1.9ghz

His system's power is not the problem here. Maybe enable video compatability, phaylanx?

Like i said, Overclock your PC. thats how i turned my 1.6ghz cpu to 1.9ghz
that isn't going to fix my fps... i have a 2.4ghz cpu, with 1gb of ram, and a graphics card that is 10x more than soldat will ever need.   apparently the issue has something to do with updates made to the dedicated server, or at least thats the rumor.

ill try video compatibility biscuiteer.

Could somebody with some serious insight into the issue respond please?

Fuck off man....thats twice in 2 days that you bashed BE...you are probably a hacker.  Noone knows if this problem is related to BE so just fuck off.

On BE enabled servers I get kicked for "client not responding or BE failed to upload" and on BE disabled servers everything is fine and i can play well. And i dont hack. I know about them. And yes im a computer nerd.

InuYasha, stop pretending you have these mentioned problems with BE. What you say is totally unlogical.
Please think twice before trying to bash BE the next time.

@Others: Do you have the same problems on non-BE servers?

Join servers that dont have the BE icon next to them (if possible with players on them).

yeah we have discovered through testing that BE seems to be the cause... something happened after the last update maybe?  It wasn't a problem before, so im sure this can be fixed

phaylanx, so it actually started yesterday for you (when BE update was released)? Because in the first post you say "in the past few days".

hmm, well i think yesterday would be correct.  i hadn't  played in a few days so maybe thats why i said in the past few days.

Where's the fix? Mind posting it here? I'm having the same exact problems, so it'd help if you'd post it here for all of us to use.

Your BE will update automatically.

Today's the 5th...... I still get 18 FPS if 2 people are shooting or a nade is thrown if I'm in a server with 6 players...

-EDIT- wewt, I posted at midnight.

I've noticed lower fps when they shouldn't be, especially when there's a lot of 'action'.
Title: Re: FPS issues
Post by: $able on October 05, 2007, 10:32:13 pm
DeaDeYe, since when do you get this?

It must be unrelated to BE.
Title: Re: FPS issues
Post by: DeaDeYe on October 06, 2007, 06:20:33 am
It dates 2-3 weeks back, I think.
Title: Re: FPS issues
Post by: $able on October 06, 2007, 06:26:13 am
So you already got it 2-3 weeks ago. It can't be caused by the BE update then (problems were fixed anyway).

Is what you describe on every server? You must have a very bad/old computer then.
Or maybe something is wrong with your system (drivers, software...).
Title: Re: FPS issues
Post by: DeaDeYe on October 06, 2007, 06:30:27 am
It's not because of my computer. I can play Counter-Strike just fine and it happened overnight. Note that I'm not sure it dates back to 2-3 weeks.... it probably doesn't since school started 3 weeks ago... Probably a week back, I'm not sure. I just know it happens and it's a pain.
Title: Re: FPS issues
Post by: $able on October 06, 2007, 06:33:52 am
So does it happen everytime or just sometimes?

Could also be related to the new dedicated server.
Title: Re: FPS issues
Post by: DeaDeYe on October 06, 2007, 06:35:16 am
Everytime I play with more than 6 people or if some genius starts spraying his minigun in an RS server (which is far less likely).
Title: Re: FPS issues
Post by: $able on October 06, 2007, 06:37:20 am
Only in RS servers (not sure if I understood you correctly)?

Most likely server-related then.
Title: Re: FPS issues
Post by: DeaDeYe on October 06, 2007, 06:37:40 am
No. I just play RS mostly.
Title: Re: FPS issues
Post by: $able on October 06, 2007, 06:38:37 am
Did you try to play in a non-BE server?
Title: Re: FPS issues
Post by: DeaDeYe on October 06, 2007, 06:40:08 am
I played in 3E. Clan Server. It was home hosted and it showed no BattlEye in the lobby... Wasn't much better though.
Title: Re: FPS issues
Post by: $able on October 06, 2007, 06:45:41 am
Maybe recheck. You should see no "Server uses BattlEye anti-cheat" message when joining then.

If it was home-hosted it is very likely that BE was disabled.

Post by: DeaDeYe on October 06, 2007, 06:52:31 am
Oh it just gets better and better. Now, when I try to enter a server, the screen starts scrolling up diagonally and when I click it I get access violation 00000000...... Eh.

What you describe is really weird.
Are you sure your system is clean (no virus, spyware, etc.)?

I can't help you there. Maybe also check this thread: http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=18629.0.

I'm sure it's as clean as Ad-Aware 2007 pro and McAffee can make it.

They can't clean your hardware for you. :P

Are you running any programs while playing Soldat? They could be slowing it down.

I'd be a fool if I hadn't thought of that.

Are you running windowed mode or fullscreen?
Windowed mode 'ive 100-230 fps, in fullscreen 59.9,
BUT in window it uses 30-40% of cpu, in fulsscreen 90%.
AND if i hadn't just restarted the pc when i play i have 60FPS, but i feel the graphic swapping. So i had to set "above as normal" priority to soldat.exe into taskmanager to fix that (even 60 fps, but smooth game).

Is bad that the fullscreen mode cannot run more than 60fps, surely there's an fps limiter to the d3d extensions, which waste more cpu than an hiigher fps. (of course also checked into soldat setup for refresh rate, but nothin changes).

Full screen being limited to 60 FPS isn't Soldat, it's the OS if you run Windows XP/Vista.

you can't unlock it because it was meant to stop players from having the so called "push effect" or something (forgot the name). It was from v1.3.1
