Title: Remote.txt admins suggestion
Post by: mar77a on October 25, 2007, 03:35:33 pm
It'd be great if you could connect to the admin port without supplying a password if your ip is in the remote.txt file. Plus I guess it's easy to implement. Feedback?

whats the point of not giving someone the admin password if you want them to be remote admins?

your suggestion would mean every admin (who can add himself to remote txt with /adm command) would get remote access? f11

besides this is posted in the wrong forum i guess.

because admin passwords can be leaked to other people

if someone is admin he can admin other people too, giving them remote access if this idea is implented. still f11.
remote.txt can be changed by any admin. and giving the admin pw to someone is imo just as risky as admining someone ingame. except for the fact that an ingame admin cannot login with remote access. thats the entire point of the admin password anyway, i think..

This could also easily be an option in server.ini.
