CALL OF DUTY 4
Okay. As I got some time I started to work on weapons. Sadly, I screwed them up and I think the weapons turned horrible. I mean - Im dissapointed and not satisfied with them. I guess they are too bright and they would need even recolor. But as for current level of work I can publish them here because of topic.
!NOTE!
I still want to finish my not done mods and this is my high priority one. Ive made almost all weapons and their modifications. The biggest problem for me (and for one person too ^^.) are sounds. Does anybody got sounds from Call Of duty 4 ? If yes. Please contact me or just let me know in this topic.
I will really appreciate if somebody could get them for me because I played that game but I dont have it and I searched on internet too and it was hopeless. So please, if you are able to be so nice and get them for me. Thanks a lot.
The second thing are ideas about the kits (medikit,nadekit etc.) and interface. I might make even gosteks if its necessary.
So ideas, wishes and help is needed.

I usually like your mods, but there's not much here. More? Gosteks could help pull it from the dead. Problem with making mods for mainstream games like COD is that everyones used every weapon from every mainstream game multiple times, and try as you might, AK47 gets unoriginal when it's in every mod.

No :) That's the folding thing in the front of gun that is used to stabilise it when you are shooting or you are waiting for ocassion to shoot on prone position.

If I would make it longer the barrel would look too short. But I try to fix that out.

I honestly can't see how you could possibly be disappointed with anything this perfect. Every gun on that list is beautiful. You are hands down the best modder around.

It might just be your style but you have a tendency to draw in every single bump and indent on the weapons. For example, your desert eagle has a 1 pixel drop from the back of the slide to the front. Although there is a slight drop there, i don't think it's a large enough one to break up the overall profile of the gun. I would have left it as a straight line.
I'm just saying you tend to sacrifice proportions for the sake of adding additional detail. That's just my personal view. Looks really good tho otherwise. It's a different style from my own which definitely appeals to many people.

Wow you replied in my topic ! Honestly, Im pretty lame in english and in fact Im so lame I would appreciate if you could make and picture example because I didnt really got the part of the gun you meaned. But I understood and with what I agree about the details. I love detailed weapons.

Yes, I have to agree with that.
Honestly Ure my image of a modder and I love your arsenal. And u (and some others) were my inspiration of starting modding weapons for soldat.
The style I used on these is new for me and they are the biggest guns Ive made (I mean size)... so Its kind of experimental.

What I meant with the desert eagle was this kinda like this. I really can't stress that these are just what i would do and I realized as I was editing them that your style fits your guns much better and that by trying to apply my techniques to them, they often turn out worse. These are just some minor changes I might make. Take them for what their worth.

[Papasurf] *slaps my forehead* Yea ! I almost forgot that style of detailing... I used it (I guess) on some smaller weapons but on these (because they are monster big) I can use that type of details.
IMHO - Desert eagle is pretty awesome. Maybe I should use it - If I can. The G36c Well. I tryed that same ti make right part more slim but it turned out like bad thing becuase it was too slim but as I see you remade even clip...maybe the left thing should be slimmer too and It could look sexier. The last pistol - same with D-E ...awesome work.
Honestly I love both alternations of those pistoles...the ones of mine looks like too from side-view or something like that.

Why you dont agree with the Deagles ? I dont know , I guess Ill use both, same with the USP ...the G36c would loose its similarism to other weapons.
Okay Ill fix the M12 text.
to that camo, try to download that image and try it in game, it looks differend on som solid backround unless that lime green. But I can agree that its to much bright and maybe a little plain so I guess Ill add some brown spots.
For now I cant decide between those two, its the AK-74u, the weapon itself is too pain IMHO and it looks weird made ...what should I use ? The difference is in the right thing where you can hold it. Damn my English still sux so much. [pigtail]

Desert M14/M21 - will check.

W1200, M40A3, Dragunov, G36C, M249 SAW, RPD, and both Desert Camo guns aren't up to what you're capable of. W1200 needs some definition. M40's stock needs to be reshaded -- too flat, man. You might want to take a look at the Drag's stock, unless that's some version I'm not acquainted with. G36 looks like a cockroach. I actually thought it was a SCAR or something. For one thing, mag's too fat. SAW stock is also messed up, same with the RPD, although I think I might be wrong. Regardless, RPD just needs some AK-ish shading. Currently it looks like some gun that tried too hard to be a Half Life 2 icon. Desert camo guns...well you have the texture...but you kinda need to add some relief to the guns so they don't look like they were cut out of some construction paper. Oh yeah. Add some roundness to your smoke grenade, and maybe some highlights to your saw so it doesn't look like some portable mercury vapor lamp.
Otherwise, all the other guns are great. Thumbs up, as always.

M40 stock is flat (in reality I mean). M249 agree the stock looks more like in M240, Dragonov - agree, it's too short or there's something wrong with holes in it, O'm not sure. RPD - other wood so it can be like it's but front grip could have more visible line between up and down "hold". G36C - imo it's good but now I've spotted that stock is propablt a bit too tall. M1200 - maybe a bit more contrast between barrel and front pump-grip but I'm not sure if it's important that much.
Btw: Shouldn't the cuting edge be straight except of that fall after few pixels?

OKay guys. Honestly I would agree but I made the weapons like they look on the picture (offiacial) with weaopns from CoD4 ...so I quess the wrong part isnt only on my side. And, well - what is stock ? grip ?
W1200 its just such a gun, I guess Its just from another side where aint details ... dunno.
RPD is a modification of AK , isnt it ?
G36c is cool for me , except the lenght of the right part.

RPD - it's totaly other weapon. It was made earlier than Ak. It even looks completly different.

G36C - stock less tall.
SWD - longer stock.
M9 - propably worst weapons you made. Try to make slide (bolt [that where barrel is :) ]) longer and maybe it would help.

I could work on the G36c and for the SWD (Dragunov) I guess the isnt that tall in comparsion with the rest of the gun. But Im probably wrong. I could fix that too, nothing hard.

M9 and P90 are quite... dissapointing compared to your other weapons... But thats not to say that they suck. Try being more cautious with your shaping, coz thats all that is wrong with them.

Dont worry , there are some color alternations in the game too so I make these too, I saw somewhere lighter Colt and some alternations of camo/colors etc. The Barrett .50Cal is done already but Im not too satisfied with its size. Im making modifications to weapons - like silencers,grenade launchers and camos. And Im fixing some things too. Ill show everything tomorow. Stay tunned.

hey, I like the changes.
About the thing in your avatar, I think you mean that you're trying to use antialiasing, which is a very useful tool. It's good not to overdo it though. I find it works well to make surfaces change elevation smoothly from one pixel level to the next (stock of my r700 for example) which a hard black line can sometimes make look really bad. It works best when you have a background to work with (for example, the grey boxes behind all my weapons.) You should have a gradient of those colors from bright to black so you can blend in an outline with the background. I like what you did with the RPG (which I don't see anymore...) Just apply it to wherever you think it's needed.

On a side note...Why did they bother with the silencer on the AK? its an old weapon, no use ruining the accuracy of an already lacking weapon ::)

As I good think this box is to show weapons here not in game (like in Dairy's BF2 mod).

Except most of his guns take up the entire height of the box anyways, so they still won't fit :(

I was wandering around www.fpsbanana.com a few weeks back and they had a Call Of Duty 4 sound pack for CS:S floating there... Thats about the best I could help you with mate. I'll take a look, and see if I can find it.

Well, honestly my plans are actually dying at this one but don't worry. I've some unuploaded pictures of weapons which I upload soon and show them. The only thing I'm missing are sounds and without them I just can't release this.

The woodland camo in multiplayer differs from the one in campaign, as I have said before ak-47u doesn't have a nade launcher, M9 looks just like Colt(the handle is diffrent).

Well, i think that ingame there is not any Grenade launchers for SMG's. Aks 74u doesn't haves GL i think... but that pic... there is something wrong :P

It's not something that's involved in CoD4(You're making a god damn cod4 mod, so why the hell are you adding shit that isn't in the game?), also that nadelauncher looks homemade.

Added many modified weapons + added W1200 and grenades. Fixed Dragunov, tell me if it's better now.
One more question, isn't the silencer on the P90 too short ?

Sounds are propably in iw_11 file. Of course they're hidden and hard coded into this file. For now I haven't found any way of gettin' 'em (including binnary remake etc.)...

yeah they are on iw_11, but as you said weapon ones are coded, i tried to change them to mp3 and nothing, they don't work.
From iw_7 to iw_11 there are ambient sounds the next ones to iw_11 are weapons in the language selected if i'm not wrong, and the ambientation ones are in mp3

Okay, I never said I'm making it awesome, I'm just really likely with the quality of images from the game. So it's easy for me to make them as pixel weapon, with some style I learned. Don't get mad , I'm just making weapons from pictures I've got, If you have some more just show me, if you have any sounds ,just give me. That's all, It's just a mod. I've made a GL for AKs ...what's so wrong with it ? If you really mind I wont use it in the mod but as a weapon it looks nicely , doesn't it ? Maybe as a bonus weapons separatelly downloadable. And what was the second weapon ? The circular ?

It always has been okay, I just wanted to help you, but you haven't cared about anyone's opinion that didin't involve teapots.
So, there's some support for you:
GLs never are longer than barrels, barrels are always little bit further(your G36C).
P90's siliencer is too long.
The desert camo is brown, not white.
G36C's siliencer is too long.
Colt's handle is diffrent than M9's one.

Actually, while it doesn't exist in the game to my knowlege, an AKS-74U IS an assault rifle. It shoots assault rifle caliber. It's a carbine... you know, like an M4. You don't call that an SMG, do you? And if you do, you need to review your gun knowlege. But anyway, the point is that there actually is a grenade launcher for the AKS-74U(but it's MUCH different from the one in that pic, which appears to be the GP-25, the one that attaches to the AK-47), which that gun is based off of.

Could anyone clarify for me what the different between a PDW and Carbine is? It seems that the definitions are the same perhaps except that the PDW has a muzzle velocity closer to SMGs while Carbine MV is more akin to ARs?

A Carbine is traditionally an assault rifle with a shortened barrel and other modifications to make it more compact. Normally though, round caliber and most of the internal systems are mostly unchanged.
For example, the aks-74u (based on the full sized ak-74) has a much shortened barrel and fore grip and folding stock and also different iron sights.
The M4 (based on the full sized M16) has a shortened barrel and fore grip and and retractable stock.
A personal defense weapon (often abbreviated PDW) is a compact semi-automatic or fully-automatic firearm similar in most respects to a submachine gun, but firing an armor-piercing round (often proprietary) which gives a PDW better range, accuracy and damage capability than a submachine gun firing pistol-caliber cartridges. The class of weapon as it exists today evolved from the submachine gun as a hybrid between an SMG and a carbine, retaining the compact size and ammunition capacity of the former while adding the ammunition power, accuracy and penetration of the latter. PDW weapon designs are normally built on new firing systems, and although many PDW designs outwardly resemble existing weapon platforms, commonly the m4, internal systems are very different.

AKS-74U is about as long as an MP5, so people mistake it for an SMG... I guess because they think the length is a big factor when it really isn't. Also, technically the AKS-74U is based on an AKS-74.
And, as far as I know, the MP5K-PDW's internals are the same as a regular MP5 except smaller, and it shoots the same 9mm round, so I don't think that description quite fits the PDW.

The PDW in that case is really just a designation. I would say that the MP5K's actual combat capabilities are not up to par with standard modern day PDWs like the P90 or the MP7. In fact, because of the shorter barrel, I would say the muzzle velocity and accuracy of the K would not even be as good as the standard MP5A4. However, with the addition of an optics sight and the vertical grip, the controllability and target acquisition speed would be superior.
I think they just call it a PDW to make it marketable. In my opinion, it's still just a SMG with some nicer furniture and attachments.

PDW musn't shoot with armor-piercing bullets. Just PDW's are designed to use bullets that have better penetration than pistol ammo but as small to be ablt to be shoot by SMG size weapons.
Btw: I think it's clarified by those few posts as much that we can stop off-top :).

No, nobody forgot anything. You said "it's an SMG, and SMGs don't have grenade launchers." You've been proven wrong. Besides, considering how we have all these weapons now with rails everywhere and the option to put your own on, I'm pretty sure I could find a way to attach an m203 or something else with rails to even a skorpion if I really wanted to.

The P90 concept actually superceded the PDW concept. During development, it was supposed to be an advanced SMG, but upon release, it was called a PDW. Just goes to show how ahead of it's time the firearm was.

EDIT: As I checked the files of me there are still quite enough to show, M14 and it's modifications like desert camo and M203. G3M203 and some others. But as far as I know there are more rocket launchers than just RPG-7 but I don't even know which ones. AT4 and Javelin ? Could somebody please help me with those and post some screenshots of them ?
By the way, as I need to study on last exams (graduations or how it's called) I don't have time to fix and make PNG supports on those unreleased + upload them with my crappy connection (512 kbit/s) and slow PC.
BUT ! I've got something special and delicious for you (maybe it's like that). I'm talking about the Desert Eagle which I've got fully modded and as a little sneek peek for you to know that this ain't dead. ...just..half dead [pigtail].
Please tell me what to improve and I'm mainly talking about the weapons-gfx and please tell me if that is the original CoD4 sound for DEs. Thanks a lot. Enjoy!

In single player there's only Javelin, it will be hard to screenshot it because you're able to shoot from it twice, and when it lies on the ground it's highlighted to make you find it easier.
There is also a minigun, seems like you haven't found out yet.

I've got even non-AA but I can tell you that some AA versions are weird (just to give on advice I've used 1st time in my life PNG format + antialiasing so some of the weapons looks messy but now I know some more so I might fix some)

By the way, don't worry the BMP (nonantialiased) will come with the download too so you can choose what you preffer.

AA kinda bugs me cause it looks fuzzy, and at my level, I tend to look closely at other's weapons, real close, and when I see those transperant pixels on the edges it feels like they don't belong. When it is okay however, is when you're doing the rungs on the front of the M4, but that's not AA it's just there to complete the weapon. so if you may, could you please also make a version that's not AA but, has those bits where it's nessecary? thnx ;)
btw: ignore the AA in my avatar I was juse messin' around with the saw design, when it's released it'll be much better ;)

You need to up the contrast on the barrels. Contrast adjustment on GIMP/PS should do the trick.

The M249 saw.. or the gun replacing FN Minimi, there are two version, one has a stand on the underside on the front. It looks kinda weird, that's what I meant. I mean, 3pixels just for something that is only 1 cm in real life? you should make it thinner ;)

Okay, I know what do you mean. I'll add it to the fixing list which is getting bigger and bigger. I wanna make this as good as I am possible so I should hurry. Only three things left. (In last days I've made three - Minigun, MP44 and M60). The things which left are : Javelin, Nade(s) and new knife.
Here is the brand new M60 which I finished few seconds ago so there isn't PGN version yet.(which I add later today.)
Oh maybe the M60 is too wide. Didn't test it in-game yet. But anyway, hope you'll like it. I worked pretty long time on it.

Yes Sadly I won't have time to finish any of my mods. I tryed but I'm unable to find any sounds for CoD4 so I've got only interfaces and some weapons-gfx. Some people are trying to help me but they're quite sceptic about the sounds because CoD4 has got coded files with those sounds so It's pretty hard to get them.
1st post got update, the last. Today I'm leaving. But as I said I've got few hours left so If anybody wants this I can give.

Well, honestly I would really like to. But sadly I don't have all sounds for the weapons,reload, soldats and for other staff.
Without sounds it's not really good. In my Deadly Arsenal 2 topic you can find 2 weapons on 4th or 3rd page, Golden D. Eagle and M14.
If somebody could send me the sounds I would gladly finish this.
But At least I've got some sounds so I could release a part of weapons which got the sounds.
I gues PaFel got some sounds, if he's still here and still got the sounds I wish he send me them.

The sounds are scripted into some files. Which is hard to unscript. That topic is useless I guess because I saw many people around the net who were talkin' the sounds are there, but not from the weapon firin'. Even on some sites where moddin' is the essence nobody could get them. I don't know. Nobody can help me... :-/

maybe it is more scripted in the full version, try doing that with an demo version (altrough not all weps will be available, i think)
or get an hi quality sound recorder start it and record the sounds and then cut aeach sound out

I play at the moment Brothers in Arms - D Day on PSP and I really think there are pretty weapons (Rifles, MGs and Sniper for me atm) with pretty sounds, try to get sounds not from porn, but from games like BF, CS or BIA, since they are done professional ---> good quality :)
You could even try to find a soundarchive for free, I will look around a bit whether I find something fitting for you, or has it to be something special?

download fraps and record yourself firing a weapon, import the movie into movie maker and drag the video into audio timeline, not VIDEO!. then publish the movie (sound) and boom! you have a gun sound from CoD4 :)

Well, now I downloaded Soldat and played again. Hehe, still makes fun. But the point was to try the interfaces again with the sounds which works perfectly and I'm really glad that I'm seein' this mod livin'. If you know what I mean, further steps will be makin' weapons-gfx for them but I'll try the best I can. Maybe I'll try to experiment with PNG support for the weapons-gfx as well.

as for the interface, good luck, cause the health inicator bothers me how it will be done
altrough, i think i've seen somewhere a mod which makes the screen red when hurt, like in predator, jsut a bit different

Well, I'll check the actuall game for the interface because I can't really remember or I'll just google it. If it would be impossible to make it, I'll just use the theme and make one as similar as possible. :)
Well, quite a lot of sounds are missing compare to the ammount of weapons. But the good new is that many are there so I'm able to make at least one full mod. That means classic 14 weapons. But I would need sounds for the chainsaw but I'll ask Lord Frunk. because he made something with these interfaces to a mod and he got sounds.
I've made weapons-gfx for the Barret .50cal I'm gonna show it in few minutes just to make a screenshot.

The finishing of this mod is coming along more swiftly than before and I already got many weapons made, I guess I'll be able to release at least one full fack of weapons ! Hooray !

CoD4 sounds.. hmm. if i had the game i could rip out the stuffs for ya.. maybe you could request for sound files from Xentax or something. they've got lots of file extractors for such games like these.
