subzero name taken by Demonic- I reckon it was on SML or something in those lines.
The bottom middle thing is completely useless and just takes up file size.

The middle-lower part seems fairly unusable, thus unnecessary, but it's an improvement from your previous works, both in aesthetics and terms of layout. We'll see how it plays, but for the next time, don't add areas that provide a slower alternative to the fastest routes without giving something in return ( like, say a huge ice slide or a bunch of powerups / sneak routes to the base ).

I feared it was, damn him and his longer map-making existence. I'll change that...

Lower-middle route is more for a realistic game than a normal gamemode, i've played this map many, many times and the 2 main routes are big enough for a nice sized game in normal mode.

I like it, though a little lacking in scenery. some pretty fog (and darker poly coloring) at the bottom corners would be nice.

This is an excellent map, should be tested for default.  The only thing that doesn't fit is the large snowflake in the middle part of the map.  Shading and everything is great.

The lack of scenery is my interpretation of 'default-style', the layout kinda compensates for the lack of scenery as you can hide behind a lot more polys than my usual maps.

I thought the snowflake was a nice touch, like a chandelier(sp?) :D

My review on ctf_Polar (http://eaglesarrows.blogspot.com/2008/02/ctfpolar-dazzling-but-not-most-fun.html)

You've nailed the visuals down, now work on your layout.

Oh, I also want to say (which I forgot to for my review): That's definitely not default-style.  The shading doesn't match that of the typical default map.  More like a new-age, VirtualTT-ish type... :-\

Well defaultish style as in the little use of scenery and the layout compared to my other maps :P

TY for that in-depth review though, you told me how i screwed up, where i screwed up and why you dont like it :P which is what i like to know.

This reminds me of coolbya for some reason!

it's a shame that demonic's style has become "default-ish." however, i really enjoy the shading you did, a bit mathematical maybe, but quite the lovely palette, although i would've used a bit of very subtle purple in some dark spots.

unfortunately i feel that the layout might suffer a bit, as e_a has said.

It's clear that u r coming better and better. Now the map looks very good, maybe background color could be more different from polygons. The first time there's A MAP DESIGN from u here. I like the spawns and flag place and how they r connected into rest of map. The long top way is clever, it gives a change to surround enemy or it could be used for suprise. The bad things on ur mapmaking is still that you don't do smooth maps :S. U should use less polygons on ground which are meant for running.

it's a shame that demonic's style has become "default-ish
Well it couldn't be said "demonic's style" it's better say "MM style". And basically it's only way to do default maps, not too much scenery or other staff but still enough that map looks pretty.

^I don't think you understand.  This map has a style similar to Demonic's (limited color palette, generally snapped vertices area outside the playable map is black). Michal's style consists of chaotic poly placement resulting in beautifully styled shapes, ex. link (http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/5586/deletevs5.jpg). What's unfortunate is that people are starting to assume that since a couple of demonic's maps made it into the default map rotation, that they are "default-style," which is skewing a term that refers to Michal's distinct style.
