A weapon has like 3 or 4 different attachments for it. With the help of a mod program that I could program, you can add for instance a silencer. The effect on this would be less damage/speed for the gun in the weapons ini, and the gun has a blank sound file, so you can't discover the persons position. You could have a whole bunch of these types of things, like a bi-pod to reduce barrett bink, a Laser dot to reduce the gradual innaccuracy with any gun. Each attachment would have a downside, but it could allow you to customize your entire arsenal, specific to you. If you don't like a certain combo of attachments, you can just open up this program and change your weapon attachments around.
The only problem I can see with this is that everyone can't bring their own guns to the party, online.

The Philanthropist, same thing I was thinkin' about. I even started to implement it to my UniForces mod so for eg. I've got standard M4A1 stats and they change when adding things to it.
Btw: I only need to make weapon-gfx and I'll show my SOPMOD kit. ;)

You guys make up some graphics for this, I can do it. I was thinking that where the AK is, we could have the Bipod actually clip on when we select it, and the silencer come on when you select it.
We need to come up with attachment ideas.
OH, I also came up with a similar idea for gosteks, just mix and match graphics for your own custom gostek. I just need graphics for everything, because I can only pixel isometric stuff D:

I really like your ideas Philanthropist, we will do it as you say! I really love it, the bad thing is that if we don't program something it will be harder, but we will do it!
We could put for magazines something like: [Bigger Round: + Damage / - Speed] or omething like.
That time we should make for example, the weapons more reallistic (not about the damage) i mean, barrett shots 10 rounds in less than 10 seconds, so we could do it, if we balance it well it can be really nice

Imo the style does metter much. Just make some same things in different styles or something although Papa, you have style that is little like mine, mainly in weapons size and the way you make outlines.

If the style haven't got muh differences then that's no problem. Mainly visible is weapon size.

Alright so I have the program coded enough that It can load the weapons.ini :P
I have to figure out how I can write back to that file, and then I can bring in the graphics and change the values etc.
The good thing is that I'm just under 500 lines of code, so the program probably won't be terribly huge.

I don't know, I know I am a rather clunky programmer, but I will condense it at the end.
Anyways, here is what I have so far D:
IF YOUR DEFAULT SOLDAT FOLDER IS NOT C:\Soldat then don't bother downloading it, I haven't coded any of that kind of menus etc. Also, I hope your weapons.ini isn't corrupted, I am not sure how mods screw the txt up yet.

I fixed the problem already, the only thing thats going to happen differently is that you are going to have to install the program once I finish it.
I got the program to write to a text file, I am ready for the images. PaFel, it's beyond my knowhow to paste .bmps onto each other, and then save them as .bmps, so we needs to find a more... Manual solution for that.

Yeaa... For my SOPMOD it would be something like... WAIT?!... only about 270 000 configurations...

Maybe we wouldn't HAVE to have every attachment go with every attachment. Maybe there could be fro example, 3 or 4 different kinds of gun sights, or a few different barrels.

Sopmod has 3 red-dot sights, 1 holographic sight, 3 aiming modules (I made only one), 1 NV sight, 1 NV Device, 2 back iron sights, 3 flashlights (I made 1), 1 grenade launcher, 1 silencer (with modified flash hider), 1 bi-pod, 1 carry handle, 3 types of rail cover plates (all ~6), 1 front grip.
I made less things than in real one but it's still damn much. All except gl, fl, ris cover plates and NV sights are completly usefull (in Soldat [.ini]).

Ok, so I created a file system for the taunt editor, so that it will manage saving and loading multiple taunt files, so that you can easily swap between taunt sets, and edit them too while using this program.

Also you're doing great at accessories, but maybe we shouldn't really try to think outside the box, rather expand it.
Choose alternative bullets, clip shaps, muzzles, stuff like that, the small stuff.

I can get you a bag of Sfx if you want. Have you got gfx and stuff that I can test the sounds with? I'll do a search for some realistic sounds =)
The reason I want the ingame gfx is so I can test the sounds and see if they go with the guns.

I know its a little... err... like PafeLs M4 attachments. Thats coz they are. I can't draw ACOGs for crap, so here you go.
Most attachments are from PafeL, I hope you don't mind :)
Edit #2: I got majorly bored, so heres an M16 you can use :) I'll PM both files if you want them Skykanden, including photoshop PSD's (if you use it). Let me know if you want these files, else I'll release them as a partial mod :)

The Colt 1911A1... the perfect addition with it's silencer and L.A.M. I actually had to guess at these unfortunately... because I found no images on Colt 1911 L.A.Ms (or silencer). I was sure I saw one before, but no doubt this is a real gun and attachments (S.W.A.T use it, Special Forces have rumoured to arm soldiers with one, and Special soldiers in Vietnam packed a silenced variant of the original 1911)

I cannot put glock on the mod, is from Dairy, and you must do weapons by your own, that's just what you need to learn
Colt: As you posted on the pic, yours is not that similar, you used too many gradients and you destroyed the weapon, so i say no... please you can do it better, do it!

Combination of you parading around your M4 and M16s as if they were masterpieces and you totally taking offense at Sky's kindly rejection of your pistols. Oh yes. And the fact that you didn't take the time to figure out what you were doing when you tried to 'help' CMA [not CWA, did you get the message yet?]. If you did you'd notice you keep trying to push your style while Pafel and Sky have already established what they want in terms of look. Your guns are too small, and the biggest thing is that you keep using your PNG graphics when they were using BMPs. So no, your 'help' isn't appreciated. If you know you can't help, at least keep out of it instead of getting yourself hurt and then being spiteful about it.

Where have I pushed the M4/M16 mod? And I never said it was awesome. I am not saying AT ALL that my mods are "teh best eva maed!" because I know that they arn't. The fact of the matter is, I spend more time on my mods trying to PERFECT them in my eyes. I turned a leaf when I started modding, I didn't slap something on a bitmap image and call it a gun (thats how I started off), I actually thought... people might download this/appreciate it if I work my hardest on it. That m14 you see above... (well... you saw) took me more than an hours work. Why? coz I constantly recoloured it to get that dark "stealthy" tinge I was after. Yea, so it may have sucked in your eyes, but I saw it as my best work yet.

They're in .PNG transperancy, as long as you know that :) BUT... it depends on the layout you want. I just did the same gun with different attachments, I didn't take each attachment and have it by itself (like yours appear).

I know it's a big job to do, but if everyone labeled their own guns, it gets split up pretty easily.
I need it because I think we can do more than accessory on each weapon at one time, it adds for more variety. I can do all the graphics for that part if you give me the accessories, the base weapon, and the preview on where the attachments should go( the latter which we already have)

I have to have all combos of accessories on a weapon, because I can't paste them on in VB because I'm pretty new at it. So we have to do the mass amounts of gun files, which I will do if you give me the base, the accessories, and the preview like stated above.

It works by accessing your soldat folder, extracting the Weapons.txt from there, and displays the stats for each weapon when you pick that weapon. I am working on getting the display picture for each weapon working correctly, then I will allow the program to change full weapons on the go, then finally add the accessories bit.
For the graphics, I need one picture of the gun without accessories on it. Then I need a picture of each gun with the accessories in the right spot, and then the accessories separate from everything. PLEASE POST IN .BMP FORMAT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. Something like this:

And oh please, add more accessories, Eotech, red dots, vertical grips.
And yes Boots, we need pistols, i saw in your modding corner that you made a awesome P89, could you do some of those great pistols like FNP-45, HK 45, etc. (at the same size of those ones you made would be perfect) with lasers and silencers or extended magazines

My suggestion for pistols would be:
Glock 18 (with extended mag, as it's auto... also can have taclight and LAM), Colt 1911A1 (theres a SWAT version with Silencer, Taclight, and LAM), FiveseveN (LAM, Taclight, silencer), Baretta 92 (Silencer, LAM, TACLIGHT), SOCOM (Taclight, Silencer, LAM).
Those are a few off my head :)

About the P226, when the flashlight isn't on the lower part of the slide is darker, to represent the rail. Also the trigger guard is supposed to be bigger. I'm kinda anal about this, so you can snag the graphics from the attached image.

For the HK right now, the weapon selection menu graphics (big ones) has a minimum of 105 wide by 23 high.

The smallest possible height I have right now is 23 px with attachments.

PafeL made the M4, not the M16. I made the M16 for the fact that it is a very well used rifle all around the world. If you didn't include it... it wouldn't be that much of an arsenal.

I pretty much looked through this entire thread and this is really going to be a great feat! Hopefully when most of it is said and done, you can contact MM and ask the mod program (with some example gun/accessories) to be included with the next version of Soldat!

About the weapons I'm planning to do... i don't know, i would like to make a whole modern arsenal, but there are too much weapons, so I'll make the best, and the most used, obviously with the collaboration of the helpers that we have right now

Well if you see, the other weapons will be in similar positions, i mean:
Excepting some weapons like the fn2000 there is a hole in the middle of the weapon and also in the front part right? (something like) So the position is Stock/Handle/---/Magazine/Grips....
the --- is representing that in that part there is not placed anything that falls down, so the weapon, with a bit of luck won't overlap

Please fix muzzle brake and stock [body is too thin behind the grip also]. Not sure about the scope but I've never seen a Barrett scope that has sloped shades like that.
Otherwise, beautiful work! Great idea with the carrying handle position too.

Just the sprite sheets take me hours on end to complete themselves, most of the programming besides the sprite sheet selecting engine is done.

You could also include camos for the weapons, such as Desert, Woodland, Digital etc..

It's going terrible. There is no way under the sun that these weapons will fit in game with the attachments. I am having problems getting the bitmaps to as well.
We might just have to make the attachments appear in the program and on the soldaten in game only, and no show the attachments on the weapon selection menu.

The most obvious thing would be to make all the weapon graphics smaller :\
Sfx might not be so much a problem, for silencers you just have a blank sound, and some of the other attachments it won't matter as much.

anywho, heres a lil weapon request Sky, please help do a Colt M1911A1 pistol :D .Optional parts include a silencer, long slide, extended mag, and possibly rail mounts for both scopes, red dot or a X4 sight, and a laser pointer.... well, think of it as a 'Hitman' custom arsenal ;)

EDIT: just a suggestion- you could try adding more options to your XM8 mod, for example, the sharpshooter, automatic rifle, and carbine variant parts. namely a long barrel(for both AR and Sharpshooter variants) and a short barrel for the carbine variant.

A question reguarding the configurator. If say, the dragunov was seleceted to have no scope, will that automatically move it to the ruger slot because of its lack in range capabilities?

but i was thinking about it, my idea was that the semi-sniper rifles could be also on ruger, but if it's too much work to Phil, he can make it as barret (without changing the slot)

I was thinking that if it doesn't have a scope, then it HAS to go in the ruger slot. So the answer to Trigger's question is that is what will exactly happen :) So only one gun has the benefit of the extra range, but if you put a scope on the ruger slot gun, you will get the benefit of extra accuracy.

Quick Update, the program can now sort through all of the weapons and decide whether the weapon is an automatic, a semi-automatic, a shotgun, dual pistols, a sniper, or a minigun. This also means the program will stop autos from going into other guns slots ;)
So you can pick from the range of autos, stick them in whichever auto slot you please, and use them with a smile.

Seriously, I cannot imagine somebody is running with Barret like with hunting rifle without scope and shooting people like that. Barrett should stay as sniper rifle always.
And the BIPOD is kind of weird or its just me. It needs a big scope and such a small scope isnt really comfortable ... but maybe its just me.

hmm... got an idea, why dont you put some kind of money system to servers where this is hosted so then at start of match you have money for some kind of gun, then when you kill, then u got money and can buy more stuffs.. and make ultimate weapon :S

We cannot do it, there is already a cs mod, if you want (some servers have those boyableweapons)
But buy accesories would mean change the .ini and have a different weapon, so i don't think that the could be any way to do it

I already said it one million times but... The configuartion should change the .ini and you should be able to make your own configurations, the accesories should be organized: front grips, stocks, magazines...

I'm learning java in a course at school, we have a graphics unit where we make a photo editor later on in the course, I want to try it in that language ;)
The only way for this to feasibly work is not have them as separate pictures, but simply the sort of place the attachments on the base using some photo editing code.
Otherwise it's just a fuckton of pictures, and work.

Obviously now I have other work to do but I'm doing some weapons

Well... I almost forgot about you guys. I noticed my name was in the team list... but none of the weapons I made ended up in there... but thats alright :)
I would dearly like to see this released.

I'm going to start doing the weapons for single downloads, until we don't have the program you will be able to download the weapons one by one, and to apply the accesories

Thanks, now I'm trying to reshade them all and make them one by one so when I finnish the program I won't need to do so much

I don't know when it will be ready, I hope soon, but i cannot say because the program takes me so much time and i have exams
