Title: Dray Mode! (Re-Uploaded 11/24/2011)
Post by: CrashMan on May 14, 2008, 09:48:01 pm
<<<DOWNLOAD HERE (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16705458/DrayMode.rar).>>>

Alright folks! It's been a while, and I actually lost the damn thing for a while, there... but I found it again, and made a lot of changes now that I'm getting back into Soldat.

I'm calling it "Dray Mode", since Dray is the name by which I normally go, and I'm even thinking about setting up a new account to reflect that. The mod comes with a FAQ file that tells you just about all you need to know about the mod. There's even some instructions on where to put some of the included goodies for people who are new to that kind of stuff.

Now, screenshots.

There's the current weapons setup for DrayMode. Do note that if you remove the included weapons.ini file, or choose not to use it, some of the weapons will not work as originally intended.

And another preview of a map I've made, and included with the mod.

And, as before, copyrights.

Copyrights- The only things I really claim as completely my doing are the graphic changes to most of the Gostek, the weapons themselves, and the power-up boxes. Most of the sound-effects I found on the internet at a fun place that... I sadly do not remember the URL for. If I get it, I promise I'll link you all, as it's an excellent place to get some for yourself.

Some sound-effects are carried over from Zero72's MegaMan Mod (http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=6726.0). I tried to overwrite as much as possible.

Nice retro style. I'm going to have to try this out later.

Thanks. And, once again, sorry for the setback. I didn't imagine I'd need to do MORE than upload my files to FileFront in order to make them public-accessible...

~EDIT-UPDATE~
The map, CTF bases has become available JUST NOW. Download it! DOWNLOAD IT! (http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d181/Flareman/Requests/MessnerSportSlope.png)

~EDIT-UPDATE~
Finally, ALL my files are up for download! Enjoy!

Yep, very refreshing to see this intentionally retro pixel style. Thumbs up!

My only problem with it is that the gray on the back blends in with the gray on most of the weapons.

You mean the weapons list table thingy? I think that only happens in the interface I'm using. I could be wrong, though...

EDIT: Oh wait, I see what you mean. Yeah, the darker grays do tend to blend in with the usually-dark Soldat backgrounds... I just didn't want my weapons to seem too bright and cheery, and I didn't want to go totally black.

Knife interface pic could be larger, names are too long.

But it looks fun. Like the others said, retro.

I did mention that the Knife's menu pic in the screenshot has been fixed, so the screenshot is incorrect for now.

The Socom's display image is also fixed.

Wow looks good!  Could use some detail, but I love the gosteks!  Provide some un-zoomed scrrens plz

They're... not really zoomed. That's the resolution of my screen. O_o

Post by: Hair|Trigger on May 16, 2008, 01:56:19 am
oh.  Put it in lower resolution then, so I can see more clearer :)  If I'm not mistaken, you are using fullscreen with 800x600?

Worthy of note: You've carried over the knife slashing animation from my mod, which isn't even mine, but Lord Ivan's, from Mecha Soldat. You should cite it appropriately.

Not a bad mod, either, although I still wish you had started from scratch, rather than on my mod... Ah well.

Not bad, and like the others said, weapon names are too long. If you want to keep it long but not too long, I suggest the following text to be changed from:

MRH-18 "The Twins"
MRR-54 "Acid Rain"
LRE-72 "BOOM Launcher"
LRR-81 "The Grim One"
MRG-90 "Pizza Delivery"
MRG-0X "The Big Gun"

TO:

MRH-18 "Twins"
MRR-54 "Rain"
LRE-72 "BOOM"
LRR-81 "Grim"
MRG-90 "Pizza"
MRG-0X "Biggie"

And you remind me of someone I know ; you share the same name as that guy.

I like the whole retro vibe(but maybe an outline could define the shapes better?), and the in-game gfx look really good.

The names are pretty funny but the graphics/detail isn't very good.
Edit: Oh i see the graphics are meant to be like that :P.

Stop commenting about the graphical detail because it's supposed to be like that. It's not one of those "try and phail" instances.

This is one hell of a mod

Just awesome, I think I'm going to use it very often ;)

Funny story about my resolution.

I've got this flatscreen monitor that uses it's own whacky resolution that Soldat doesn't seem to properly support. 1280 x 720 widescreen.

Worthy of note: You've carried over the knife slashing animation from my mod, which isn't even mine, but Lord Ivan's, from Mecha Soldat. You should cite it appropriately.

Not a bad mod, either, although I still wish you had started from scratch, rather than on my mod... Ah well.
If I had started from scratch, new as I was to the whole "Modding" thing, I probably would've over-written some default Soldat files.

You of all people should know me like that. >_> I'd lose my head if it wasn't attatched.

As for the knife slashing thing, yeah... I played some of default soldat last night and I realized the animation was slightly different. I was WONDERING about that...

Not bad, and like the others said, weapon names are too long. If you want to keep it long but not too long, I suggest the following text to be changed from:

MRH-18 "The Twins"
MRR-54 "Acid Rain"
LRE-72 "BOOM Launcher"
LRR-81 "The Grim One"
MRG-90 "Pizza Delivery"
MRG-0X "The Big Gun"

TO:

MRH-18 "Twins"
MRR-54 "Rain"
LRE-72 "BOOM"
LRR-81 "Grim"
MRG-90 "Pizza"
MRG-0X "Biggie"

And you remind me of someone I know ; you share the same name as that guy.
Personally, the names don't roll off my tongue that way. I'd rather remove the serial# part to keep the names the way they are.

... Have we met before?

Alright, that sounds good.

And in that case, then we never met before, seems more like a coincidence that someone I knew had the same name as you.

Hmm, maybe replace that chainsaw...

If anyone still has a copy of this, can you send it to me?

I've lost the files in a freak computer accident I'm loathe to speak of, and now with my shiny new laptop I am itching to get back to tinkering with it.

The download link apparently does not work anymore. ):

Re: UPDATE.

Lot of Sfx have been removed or changed around. Some of the old soldat sfx are being used again in place of some of the MegaMan sfx my mod originally supported.

LAW and M79 have been drastically changed.

Damage for the SOCOM has been increased a little to give it a better fighting edge for Advance mode.

New Maps: ctf_1Pyramid (http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d181/Flareman/Photos/c53fdfb8.png), ctf_1Bases (http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d181/Flareman/Photos/659a9ad1.png), ctf_1Arctic (http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d181/Flareman/Photos/af1922e5.png), ctf_1City (http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d181/Flareman/Photos/c3d4925c.png), and ctf_1City2 (http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d181/Flareman/Photos/f23968af.png). Enjoy!
(P.S. The "Bases" map is symmetrical. The other side is exactly the same, except the base is blue over there.)

Also, I didn't make it clear the last time, but originally, Dray Mode's unarmed zombies were harmless because the FIST weapon was set to do next to nil damage. I've fixed that, and now a mob of zombies can rip you apart in seconds. Have fun!

P.S. I've also included a FAQ on how to use all the stuff included with the DrayMode.rar file, including a shortcut to put on your desktop!

UPDATE

I've discovered an issue with the Lazy Bomber.

Because it's bullet style is set to regular grenades, it uses up the actual grenades on your belt. When you run out of belt-grenades, Lazy Bomber will fire "blanks". They still explode, but they deal no damage whatsoever to anyone (including yourself).

These issues only occur ONLINE, however. If you're playing offline, the Lazy Bomber will not do any of these things. It will just use it's own supply of grenades and always be perfectly deadly.

WOAH holy cow. I'm so sorry, folks. I lost the file for a bit so you weren't able to download it anymore for a bit, but I've got the download link workin' again so if you wanted to try it out, please feel free to do so now. I've uploaded it to dropbox again and will leave it there, FOREVER.
