Title: 20s limit
Post by: DorkeyDear on June 17, 2008, 12:09:48 pm
The 20 second limit should not apply when posting, and then PMing somebody right afterwards.
For some scripts from requests, I PM the person a link to the topic I just created, which I can't sense I have to wait...

You have two billion, two hundred seven million, five hundred twenty thousand 20-seconds in your life. I think you can spare a few of them.

Never really had a problem with it... When something like that happens I just wait a few seconds playing minesweeper.

don't spam so damn much. jeez, if you spent so little time on a post, it probably wasn't worth sending anyway.

He could have just posted something and then went to PM someone with a short message, couldn't he?

I agree, it seems pretty unnecessary to have to wait to send a PM.

Why is it there anyway?  getting rid of it would just mean more excuses to ban people for trying to spam tonnes of messages ;)

Oh no, 20 seconds, that's such a long time -_-.... I have some fleas in my hair, want to pick those too?

:)

Actually, I would love to!

I totally agree.. It's 20 seconds, nothing to complain about. Adjust matey! Adjust ;)

Its not the time span that I react on. Its the idea of having to wait a set time period before you send a personal message. I just find it pointless.

There was this forumer once, "duriel" I think his name was.. or something. He kept on spamming me up with PM's that had nothing in them.. I blocked him, and it took care of the problem. But it was still annoying to have to delete half a million posts, as well as while it lasted. If the 20 second thing hadn't been there at the time, he could've spammed me even more!

Do not remove it.

But this is not about removing delays between PM's. Just delays between a regular post and a PM ;)

pm's that just say :D are annoying, if those 20 seconds will prevent some nub from sending them, great.

How about something useful, like a block list for pm's...

Already in place, 4-y-o. Investigate.

I agree about the wait between posts and PMs being pointless.

Woah, guess I was a little slow that day :P In this case, I agree!

If you want to go digging through the source code of SMF and tell me what change to make such that the two don't interfere, by all means please do.  I don't feel like spending my time doing this just because one person wants to be able to send PMs immediately after posting.
