Really small Int-gfx.

Really small Int-gfx.
Well, it would look strange with a big one, because it is a small gun :P

Oh and if you're wondering how to make it say P90 instead of MP5 ingame, go to \Soldat\Txt\weaponames.txt\ and go to the third line, and make it say P90 :D

Ok I checked it.

1. I don't like this cs fire sound. It sounds like canon ;D. I think that P90 should have sound more like the one from BF2.
2. Reload sound don't fits to the P90 reloading system. For me it should be longer but if you want it to be compatibile with standard .ini then it must be short.
3. I still think that Int-gfx is too small. It should be ~10% bigger.

Hope my critics helps ;).

Looks good but the interface image looks a little on the small size... The big image you made of it is sexy though. I like.

Bets are on that he didn't make the big image. Also, on the big image the too-thin front nub is really bothering me.

I made the big image... What makes you think I didn't?
I will try and make the interface a little bit bigger.
And I don't know how to make sounds, so I found some random ones :D
Would it be alright if I found another P90 mod and took the sound from that and gave credit to the person I took it from?

I think he means you didn't make it from scratch, and was probaly re-sized.

If you give credit it should be ok I think.

Oh and btw, when i make an interface gun, i open the one im changing, and make it all green, so its the same width

I think he means you didn't make it from scratch, and was probaly re-sized.
Oh no i didn't make it from scratch, I took this image:
and i made it smaller and then i made it look more soldat'ish.

Would it be alright if I found another P90 mod and took the sound from that and gave credit to the person I took it from?

If you give credit it should be ok I think.
Well, ill start doing that for sounds from now on ;)

Ok, it's way better now but I see one thing. Why it's blue not black :) ?

It's nice and everything

but re-sizing is kind of lazy.

did you re-size the weapons in the background there aswell?

Um, the other guns are not finished yet... But yeah i usually resize an image to give me a rough idea on how it has to look...

Its not blue :S

Oh and does anyone have a program that converts .sb0 to .wav :P
I could get my own sounds that way xD

But anyway i followed PaFeL's suggestion:
1. I don't like this cs fire sound. It sounds like canon ;D. I think that P90 should have sound more like the one from BF2.
Ok, ill modify the .zip with those sounds now ;)

Can't foo me...

It's 'blueish' because normal resizing averages out the gamut. Meh...

New sounds (thanks to Dairy! ♥)

Just a little coment - Dairy was supplied with BF2 sounds by me ;D (not like I want to be credited ;D).

Too round on the end.  If your thinking fill in the top left corner with one black pixel, I normally put a very slightly transperant (but still close to black) pixel so its not a perfect square, it's kind of roundish like it would be but its not a curve either.  (you will have to save as .png)

If you don't want to save as PNG using a neutralish grey pixel works. Erm, try 30:30:30.

If you say so!
I seem to need lots of help :P

Its 25% transparent ;)

hmm i just noticed that it leaves a pixel green were i changed it, is this because i didn't take out the green back ground?
Please help, i am new to adding transparency to my mods ;)

The green in the background needs to be #0000FF Hex. You can't do partial transparency using the green.

To add partial transparency, answer me this: Do you have The Gimp?

Well, I don't know how to make pictures in HEX.
No i don't have gimp, i have adobe photoshop cs3 extended ;)
So you're saying that I shouldn't have a back ground at all?
I will post again when i am done ;)

Photoshop isn't for modding soldat, It's largely for graphic design and photo editing.

(This is technically graphic design, just on a much smaller scale)

Download Pait.NET or GIMP, both will cater for all your modding needs and even some of your basic photoshop features are accessible within these free programs.   I use Paint.NET cause I couldnt be bothered learning to use GIMP and from what I hear its pretty much the same thing -.-

Edit:  thats what I meant, it looks good now (: but it does kinda still have that roundish look, perhaps just a TAD darker ;)

How come Photoshop isn't for modding soldat? Why would a free program be better >:(
And in game the outside of the gun is slightly white, is there a reason for this?

PS i good for makin small gfx like all other apps.

Bad transparency support in Soldat.

Seiousley, use whatever you want but I simply prefer the free programs over PS.  When I used PS I had difficulty finding simple features that you would expect in one of the free programs (most stuff was buried within the menus)  and It's a lot faster because PS uses heaps of system resource (Ram, CPU etc..) so unless you have a decent system you would probably benefit from using freeware stuff.

Hmm, well my computer cost me $300, it opens photoshop in about 2 seconds, and doesn't really lag, i know how to use photoshop, and i know how to draw pixel by pixel, so, im still wondering why i was getting some strange white outline in the death log, but not in the weapon menu... :S

Lol @ Plastic Foil Effect [makes the "I-told-you-so" look]. Since the P90 has unavoidable straight edges PFE will be unavoidable, too... so if you hate PFE then don't use PNG.

AFAIK Gimp's more proc intensive for me than PS

PNGs can be good but they're mighty fail if you don't know exactly where to use them and how to do it so that it doesn't PFE. Hahahahahahahaha!!1 :|
Title: Re: P90 Mod :]
Post by: ace on July 31, 2008, 07:57:46 am
So you're saying that I can't make ONE single pixel in my interface picture transparent without getting the 'PFE' effect... :(
Title: Re: P90 Mod :]
Post by: Espadon on July 31, 2008, 08:15:55 am
Yes, because you have to save it as a PNG, and Soldat doesn't really like PNGs.
Title: Re: P90 Mod :]
Post by: mxyzptlk on July 31, 2008, 02:47:47 pm
Hopefully, PFE will be fixed in 1.5 non-beta.

Seriously, though, you could change to BMP easily enough since you aren't using PNG's partial transparency feature. All you have to do is change the background back to green and save it as a bmp.

It's not worth PFE just for that one pixel you know?
