Title: Map maker add on, moving objects
Post by: BooBoo McBad on July 25, 2006, 06:43:06 pm
I think this would be a good add for the Soldat Map Making Community because it would allow for more variation on map, whether it's falling spikes in a cave map, moving pedestals on a climb map, or just added scenery such as grass blowing in the wind, it would add to the gameplay value even more than it is now.

This could also make for maps in games such as Capture The Flag. Imagine a map that is like a maze, but every few minutes walls shift and change the route, this would make returning your flag more like a search rather than a chase, and could make for great fun.

Think of all the new things you could do with this and add them here.

I like the idea of having animated GIFs in maps, but as for the rest, nay.

Animated GIFs would be a nice addition to the scenery. It would be really hard to code actual moving polygons, and they really wouldn't be that useful, just a nuisance. If you want an elevator, make stairs; a horizontal platform, make a bridge with a hole in it; and falling death objects would just be annoying. I don't think maze CTF would be very fun...

I am starting to bend from the idea a little too, imagine the map bugs?
