Title: XFire In-Game chat
Post by: daphenomena on January 14, 2009, 08:30:56 am
Well XFire in-game chat would be awsome since a lot of people have XFire on their computer
(at least I think so)
But I'm not sure if SOLDAT has to enable this support  ???
If SOLDAT must enable it, then I'm suggesting this add-on  ;D

At one stage, Xfire In-Game was enabled within Soldat. But alas, weep, for it was never to last. When BattlEye was brought in to ward off the hackers, many applications that hooked into Direct3D started causing you to get banned. As Xfire In-Game uses such a method, it caused BattlEye to ban you so long as the In-Game functions were loaded. So, after a while, Xfire officially removed In-Game support for Soldat.

Blame the hackers for this one, mate.

well, you could minimize the impact by putting soldat in windowed mode, and then alt+tab to the chat tab

Yeah, I wasn't even aware that they had taken it out of Soldat, but I guess now I know.  Kinda sucks, but it was a bit distracting, playing soldat, and getting spammed on Xfire..

if this would be brought again...
Hackers could easily make their program get recognized as X-Fire to the BE and it would be so easy to have visual hacks without getting caught.

IrC ingame chat instead :D

IRC chat is an old technology and that's why only one of my friends uses it
(and just because he's an Team NeO member and server admin (Multi Theft Auto))
None of my other friends use it, so it's pointless for me to use in-game IRC client

Yeah, Lobby chat would be real useful when you're ingame.

I do prefer xfire chat ingame but as it was said before, its another way for hackers to go and hack the server. I wonder if it could be built into soldat somehow.

Thing is, Lobby chat uses the IRC protocol anyway. Ahahahahaha....

It will, because in-game, you can press ~ to talk in the lobby chat.

Lobby chat will be only for SOLDAT players, so for me is the same if lobby chat wouldn't be added
Well I'll try to convince my friends to come to IRC  :P

When you're inside a server? that's crazy.

Not when server is half-empty and you want to invite some people :)

I was trying to express my excitement. This is a great feature. Maybe an excitement mark would've done some good?

Or maybe you could have changed crazy for something else...

On topic: I only used the Xfire chat once, not really something I miss.
