Title: [!] New Game Setting [!]
Post by: Gold on August 04, 2006, 01:32:21 am
Ive been thinking of this idea for a while now and this is what ive come up with...

- A new game setting (or gamemode if you wanna call it that) its like Advance mode except its alot more detailed when you choose the settings for it, Example: You can select what weapons each player starts with they dont select weapons when they respawn either whilst this game setting is enabled they lose there weapons and must sneak around and find a crate to get a weapon back, if each player starts with the socom for example then if they die they will spawn without any weapons and the player can find a weapons crate to gain a weapon or in some cases a better weapon than the one they begin with

Crates
Each weapon crate is specified by a colour like, red for secondary weapons and green for explosives.

Red Crate= ShortRange weapons (when you get the crate a menu opens with a selection of 4 weapons you can take from the crate but you can only take 1 of them, socom, chainsaw, knife, Deagles or Spas you can only select one)

Green Crate= Explosive Weapons (when you get the crate a menu opens with a selection of 4 weapons, M79, LAW, 2 Grenades or 1 Cluster grenade, you can only select one)

Dark Blue Crate= Long Range Weapons (when you get the crate a menu opens with a selection of 3 weapons, Ruger or Barrett, you can only select one)

Brown Crate= Machine Guns (when you get the crate a menu opens with a selection of - weapons, Minimi, Hk Mp5, Steyr AUG, Mini Gun or Ak-74, you can only select one)

So yeah thats pretty much everything, just incase i didnt explain it well enough when you enable the setting you get a selection of... What weapon the players start with but they can only start with a Primary and Secondary the weapons menu is disabled at all times when this setting is on, you can select whether weapon crates are enabled (players dont lose there start-off weapons if weapon crates are disabled)

New Addition Ideas All Up:

- The weapon crates
- The GameMode

- Anything i didnt mention or that could be improved? please reply!  :)

EDIT: Maybe you have to press a button while ontop of a weapon crate like CTRL+O or just O, that would stop the crates being annoying when your running over one then the menu opens.

I don't like it.  The obvious issue is this: The player spawns without a weapon, runs to a crate, and gets shot as he's selecting a weapon, or while he's running to a crate.

The second problem is this: Given the choice, do think a player will take desert eagles or the socom?  Possibly there could be a crate for secondary weapons, and several rarer crates for primaries.

Third point: If you do go for several crates for primary weapons, it will be impossible to select rarities.  Maybe short range boxes are common, but if you're on a big map, that's no problem for the players.  If you make the "good" weapons rare, the players who are skilled with the "bad" weapons will always win because they'll always have access to their favorite weapon.

Maybe the best solution is to have one hit kill weapons in rare boxes, < 5 hit kill weapons in moderately rare boxes, and > 5 hit kill weapons in common boxes.  Also, maybe it's better if you randomly give the player a weapon, instead of bringing up a menu.  That way weapon versatility is encouraged, and newer players can beat older players if they find the right weapons.

One last thought:  It's pretty unfair to have the player start out unarmed, IMO.  Either he has to run some distance to get a weapon (dangerous; I can already hear whining) or the boxes are close enough that the player might as well start with a random weapon.  If the boxes are far away, you might want to start the player off with at least a socom, so he's not completely defenseless.

That'd get too confusing. And the MP5 is like the most shortrange weapon in the game, so what's it doing in the machien gun box? Also....
