Title: A suggestion for forum.
Post by: TheWind on June 17, 2009, 07:03:21 am
Hi all, shouldn't soldatforums have its own section for guides, strategies and such? It would be cool, no more searching so much.

This should probably more suit the Forum News and Support section. Please remember to put all the proper threads there before posting in somewhere unnecessary.

Make it all, and then maybe someone could put a section for it...

A guides/strategy section?

Well, that might work. There are already some guides around, it's best if they are kept in one section instead of being forgotten in the general discussions.

That's a really good idea. All how-to in one place would make people who can't (or don't want to) use search tool easier. I hope.

People have been making them for ages now.

Problem is guides are very limited in number and subject. The section would be small but that might not matter that much. If you do, make sure to add the rating system for them like in suggestions.

I think that if you make a special section for it, and people is allowed to post there, it would encourage people to make guides about anything, instead of what we have now, where people posts a guide and it's forgotten in like a week.

There aren't many guides, but I won't be surprised to see millions of guides fall under the sky when a guides section where everyone can post in it is made. At the same time, if guides are forgotten, then it's kinda pointless to make a guide in the first place, and any people in future may just post a similar guide on the exact same topic covered in those forgotten guides right? How about this:

There is a guides section. There, you CANNOT make new threads, but you can post in any existing threads in that section (so that users may ask for help in the guide if they are unclear about something). If a guide is to be put up, it is posted in the general discussion first, and it may be moved to the guides section later by the mods.

I think this suggestion is flawed and it only makes work for the mods harder however, but still worth raising some ideas.

Oh and Niko, nice stars =P

Maybe make that section at the top of the list for the newbs to spot easier?

Problem is there are very few guns, therefore guide subject is super limited. So if a section were made there would be dozens of guides that say pretty much the same thing or are stupid.

Looking for guides? :p

We don't have a rating system, but then our collection isn't that big (It's only from EliteCTF members). I think a similar section on SF would be nice, but it would really need a system like that, I'm sure it will be much bigger and thus lots more thrash.
