Story

2040s: Super-Corporations own the world.

The third worlds push to pay off their debt to the first world is out of hand. Civil war erupts over the natural resources in the areas, making the conflict on a devastating scale. The newly formed OEA (Oceanic - European Alliance) sends Peace keepers over to settle it down, but it's like trying to stop Niagara falls with a bucket. The Peace keepers are slaughtered. The OEA sends over a strike force of 20 000 Elite Rangers to destroy the leaders of the main factions against them. After two years of brutal fighting, the OEA retreats, leaving the third world.

In the urge to win the resource war, one nation builds nuclear warheads based on old WW2 designs. 35 Nukes are fired at rival nations.

Decimation. The third world is destroyed in an apocalyptic climax of raw nuclear explosives. The world has come to an end.

Nuclear winter forms, and the fallout starts to hit America and the OEA, based in Europe. Ice grows and temperatures drop dramatically. Many die.

The US and OEA join to develope a suit that prevents the user to receive radiation poisoning. The Super-Corporation Kanthrak buys the blue prints and forces people to buy them. As a result, many civilians receive radiation poisoning, and many die, but some go mad. They become walking corpses, intent on revenge on the cause of their destruction, but their minds are decayed.

OEA send soldiers clad in Anti-Radiation Suits over to the decimated third world. They encounter waves of blackened madmen, and are given the order to gun them down.

Meanwhile, the fallout has hit the ESU (Eurasian Solar Union) in a big way. The former China and Russia form to take Europe by force, as it is the safest from nuclear fallout.

OEA and US forces meet the ESU threat.

The world falls into chaos and war.

2057AD. The future is in your hands

Sfx, weapons-gfx, the Berlin map, gosteks and the weapon balance.

And a few other minor tweaks (for instance the M79 variant...)

I will fix the alignment problems today and tomorrow.

Things to note:

There are no Spas-12 Weapons Gfx

The Gostek Gfx don't really look changed at all(except the helm)

Over all its a good mod but there are still things in it that look un finished...

The balance is good, but it still needs some work, and look at the first picture on the right (upper one)...Since when are "laser" guns supposed to drop empty bullet housings?

This is exactly what I need to hear and this is why it's not a 1.0 version. All taken note of, thank you. I'll update the first post when I get on my PC next.

Technically this is still a beta.

M79, the M79-clip and M79-clip2 should be made blank, as they make a default M79 over your one.

The bullets should be a bit more visible, as it is a pain to spot them without bullet trails.

Also, the barret in weapons.ini has become almost useless because of the ruger.

Yeah I noticed that just about a couple of seconds ago, played with bots, also, the MP5 variant could have bit slower (Tiny bit) ROF.

Um....the mini mi....ITS over kill...I mean 2500 rpm?
Title: Re: 2057AD Current Version - 0.95
Post by: Gnoblar on June 23, 2009, 06:29:17 pm
Yeah the minimi needs more accuracy and a lower ROF. The river is supposed to be a second sniper, I'll nerf it though. MP-5 nerfed (lower ROF) and bullets made smaller.

Yeah this mod needs a new interface...

I assume you know that I don't like the interface and my interface maker doesn't work.

Niko, if you've played GRAW, I want a HUD like that, all angled and smooth, or one similar to Halo 3. I don't want a conervative HUD, I want lots of see-through turquoise crap on the sides all angled around the centre.

I'll have a competition of sorts: make me a cool HUD and I'll give you exclusive preview and insight into my new secret mod.

Gnoblar, you have a nice guns here overall, but something is wrong with your shading on your style, at least I think so . The lightning doesn't blend with the rest of the weapon .

hmm, ive not thought of this before, but if you do need the gosteks, i could help out by providing my UNSTF gosteks- which apparantly, have'nt started on yet

If you agreed, id would be doing 5 sets of gosteks- each with their unique sets of hairstyles/helmets

Assault
Heavy Assault
Sniper
Scout
Blackops

frankly, ive given up hope on the UNSTF mod, the weapon modding is especially hard, since i can't design weapons well.

Added note, don't expect the gosteks to be done quickly-i like to take my time.

Added added note- i might also try making up a registered interface- much like the GRAW one.

Best thing i liked about the mod are the sounds - they sound powerful enough, but dont hurt your ears.
I didn't like minimi's sounds though - too short and.. unimpressive.

As for guns themselves - biggest broblem (IMO) is the color - they're all almost pitch black, only way you can see the difference between them is shape. Try adding a little more color and/or highlights (like a blue "scope" on M79 or red barrel tip on Barrett).
The size is nice though. None of the guns are too big or too small. (though try making the Minigun menu icon bigger - it doesn't quite match the huge cannon in player's hands)

also.. whats with the M79? It looks like there's something else appearing overtop it. m79-2.bmp and m79.bmp.

By the way, the interface I'm making will take a while (http://static.forums.soldat.pl/Smileys/classic/Smiley3.gif)

Will be amazing though, I promise :)

jeez... so much work in and then it looks terrible... I'll have to fix it somehow, I don't like the borders. Expect something better tomorrow, but this will be the main idea:

Fill the perimeter with a more transparent blue color.

Get rid of the scar.

and make the right bar smaller.

Title: Re: 2057AD Current Version - 0.95
Post by: scout on June 25, 2009, 03:17:44 am
technically speaking, yes. but you would have the edit- or rather erase the parts you want. or, you could just remove the entire health bar graphic, since the border was made from that.

thanks alot :P did a play test on it, weapons are nice and all, but the sounds just make it feel too much like BF2142. The repeated sounds are also a lil bit distracting to me. i could do a sound edit if you'd like, i would also add in other stuffs too, if ya don't mind.( im mainly gonna port over quite abit of the material from UNSTF )

Mind you, im abit particular when it comes to sounds :D

Boy Gnoblar....If this keeps up this wont really be "your" mod any more.

(I say this because most of the work on the actual game has been made by other people Interface,Gosteks and I helped make the weapons its to the point now that I'm thinking that you should get your own sounds....after all this is not Our project but yours)

Just Remember If you want to LEARN how to mod you have to do the work your self you don't learn by having other people do things for you.

Good Luck and remember Ask for help and ideas but try to do as much of the work as you can.

but you become a "good" moder when you stick with it even when

you feel like you never want to look at the mod your working on again...

Understood but I want to help Gnoblar learn that he needs to work on HIS mods otherwise he's not going to learn modding properly and start depending on other people to do his work.

but you are right in saying:

Please consider about releasing your mod without the map or a mappack. All what is needed are 2 different downloads (1 for the mod and 1 for the mappack).

In addition you used the SAME weapon for the M79, the M72 LAW and the bow, what the fuck should that stand for? Think of reality. Try to find something for the fist, it is annoying to see the old .bmp for it. And why is there a folder with some more weapons? You don´t have weapons-gfx for them, so don´t release them. You included some of the original Soldat files in the package, delete them please (for example spawnspark, sand and snow). Why is the M72 LAW called M72 LAW in your mod? I thought you replaced it? If you do the weapons-gfx replace the fire, too. It looks crappy if you have the default fire and then a blue bullet coming out. You replaced the bow with the M79 but didn´t change the weapons-gfx. The weapons-gfx for the chainsaw is the default one, too, so I guess, that there are more weapons that are default in game.

I told you not to rush with the mod, to do everything until it is perfect and now you released the mod and it is ... crap. Fix the bugs, work on ctf_Berlin (scenery), then do 2 packages and release it.

Deleted the ones you said. What are the others? I'm too lazy to find them, and I need more time to work on the mod.

I told you not to rush with the mod, to do everything until it is perfect and now you released the mod and it is ... crap. Fix the bugs, work on ctf_Berlin (scenery), then do 2 packages and release it.

That's better. I need comments like that that actually HELP me.

This is why it's not v1.0

So.

Scout is doing the sounds. I guess I'll have to do that weapons-gfx, the gosteks are done by scout and Niko is doing the interface.

I also have slightly edited the weapons.ini

EDIT: How's that interface coming along?

EDIT2: Please refer to the thread in "Modding ideas/General Discussions" until v1.0 comes out, in which I will update this one.

Gnoblar, lemme tel you something no one else has the decency to say.

1. You did a fantastic job on this mod. Incredible, truly. You don't make a dime off of all this work, and considering that, it seems you've poured a lot of your time and effort into this mod. I am sorry that no one else here seems to recognize that. Not even the admins.

Oh, and don't worry about Darkcrusade's whining. That parasite needs an education in manners and respect.
2. Don't take the other users here too seriously, Gnoblar. They're seemingly a bunch of deadbeat modders who generally produce little themselves, and when they do, it's not that great. The truth is they're all probably jealous of your work, and rather than admit it's good, they find it easier to complain and balk while providing useless advice. They have no respect for your effort, I'm sorry to say.

Now, just to mention a few minor things. Well one really. It's one of those perfect-perfect things that's... kinda important since it's the title: 2057 A.D. Technically, we place BC (before Christ) after the year number, and we place AD (Anno Domini) before the year number. So, it should be A.D. 2057.

Lastly, Gnoblar, don't feel pressured to complete this mod ASAP. Making it ultra-perfect isn't gonna win you the acclaim from your fellow users, 'cause they'll just nit-pick forever. Look at Espadon's HLT mod. He came out with this fantastic concept-idea mod, guns swinging, over two years ago. And it's still far from finished. Not even released yet. His mod wasn't gonna be finished in 2 weeks, and neither should this. Just take your time, work at it on your own schedule, and if they start getting impatient, ignore it. Whatever you do, please don't make this mod priority above your own personal life. Not for these people.

Once again, kudos, mate. As a neutral nobody, I must say it looks pretty good.

What you need, your assholeness, is a shower to cool off your ego, you got some real issues my friend.
Those people that "are whining about his work" are the ones doing half of it, sorry to say this Gnoblar, but you've lost your grip on this one, I see about 5 people working 60-70% more than you on this mod, I think you should've never let it slip from you. Now it's simply a beta that (Way I see it) is never gonna come out as was planned and hoped for. And "maddog": Espadon is has years more experience with modding, so in his case it's his style\way of doing it, he's USED to take his time. Gnoblar you tried that and it didn't work, had you not kept taking brakes then it could have worked, but most of your excuses don't cut it, you're simply too lazy to finish what you started. I'm trying to help you so you can fix that flaw about yourself. I'm not gonna turn this a personal flaming thing, so just finish this mod ASAFP...Or you'll never finish it.

I can't believe MadDog's only post is sayign how good I am.

demoniac93, you're %100 right. I'll work on it now.

My next mod will be all mine. Maybe a bit of help, but mine mine mine mine mine.

Why in gods name are my mods bringing up so much contraversy? f**k it's not that good and it's not finished. Maybe that is the problem.

I've never been a good artist, so that's why I've bogged out on all the visuals mainly. My concern is gameplay.

Don't make a beta thread in a finished mods forum. Remake topic when you're ready for final release.
