A long while ago there was a poll thread asking who our favourite moderator was. Now, in all fairness and in a completely unbiased manner, let's find out who the least favourite moderator is. :)
All poll options are members who are currently under the user groups Administrator or Global Moderator ordered primarily by user group and secondly by date of registration.
Remember, vote for your least favourite moderator. Optionally you could also post your opinions and reasons why the moderator you chose is your least favourite, but anonymity is also equally welcomed.
Don't feel scared! Remember, moderating staff are not here to rule over other members, but to serve them fairly.
I am confident that no moderators will lock or tamper with this poll as it does in no such way violate any of the rules of the forum. It is merely a civil discussion for all members to partake in and voice an opnion that may have gone unexpressed previously. If this thread is sabotaged by the powers that be then it is an obvious sign of weakness in one or perhaps all of the moderating staff.

It seems I don't like any of them after some thought. Some are boring, sure, but none have wronged me, made me mad, or done something I disagreed with that I can think of. Most are fairly funny.

echo. He warned me in a thread where the OP flamed so much and I just wrote that he was stupid. I got a warning for it which the same day got removed. Maybe he changed his mind or an other moderator removed it.
It's not that I don't like him. But he's the only one that's given me a warning :x

I myself haven't cast my vote yet... I'm torn between 2 people really.. I won't mention who but I consider them to be the bottom-feeders who can't really handle the task.
On a related note Kazuki is my favourite, along with Smegma and Espadon. Actually I like most of them, even The Geologist although he likes to put me down. :-\

I don't know any of them well enough to say I dislike them, and even those I do I tend to like. The only one I tend to have problem with is myself, so that's who I voted for.
I also hand out some harsh warnings and can be a prick.

Then he tries to be cool by posting our chat logs to his friends so they can have a good laugh. I'm sure I speak for a large part of the IRC community.

mar77a is made of win and argentina - the sort of authoritive mentality he has is what more or less tied #sna.gather together since the start up. I can count the amount of times he has slipped or made an error in such cases on ONE hand, and even then he apologized / made it up. yo.

On a different thread, admin Kazuki told me essentially that the actions of admins here differ based on who the admin is that runs across something questionable. Some lash out, some ignore...
Kazuki: "If you're looking for complete fairness, I doubt you'll find it past the act of flipping a coin." "The unfair part here is that although I acknowledge how pointless and unnecessary [other user] most recent posts were, I'm not going to do anything about them, whereas another mod probably will."
Now my question is... why are there no moderation rules? It's a simple question. I mean, if I run a red light, and the cop pulls me over... that's fair. If I run a red light in a different town, and the other cop starts shooting at my car... that's not too fair. That analogy, while a bit extreme, does seem to fit here. If the police must follow proper conduct rules (called LAW), and most agree it's fair, then why not have general moderation rules to which all admins equally follow?
There's a reason why those statues outside of courthouses have blindfolds on. Personal opinion is not a factor in justice, or the law. Why should it be here?
That's basically my problem. You've been hearing about the Sotomayor hearings. One of the major complaints from her opposition is that they believe she'll rule on her opinion rather than the facts. So, why no moderation rubric?
Oh, and I'm just sure they'll love this post... I so eagerly await their acrid responses...

There's a set of rules for the whole board (like no porn, warez, soldat hacks), and there's different rules for each sub-forum (off topic goes in the lounge, and the rest are pretty evident). The moderators job is to uphold these rules, moving and locking threads, cutting off discussions once they drift into nonsense: and of course the lounge is the toughest part. Like an inflated kindergarten with a bunch of misbehaving kids baiting and picking on each other. Loads of fun.
That being said, the admins watch over each other as well, if someone goes loco or is deemed unsuitable, he gets shut down. It's a fine recipe for a relaxed gaming forum like this.

@MadDog: Of course the actions of moderators and admins differ. If you don't think this happens with law enforcement, you need to wake up from your delusional slumber. There are cops on the highway that will stop you for going 60 in a 55, and there are those that will let you slide when you're driving at 75 or even 80.
A couple of months ago, there was a disclaimer at the top of the rules page that basically said "THESE RULES ARE MORE LIKE GUIDELINES AND WILL BE APPLIED AS SEEN FIT". I'm wondering where this disclaimer went, because that is how I interpret the rules. I don't even understand what the big deal is here. It's not like I gave you an unfair punishment; it's that I didn't punish someone when, in your opinion, I should have.
Wanna know the difference between us and politicians? We don't have to be politically correct. And in my opinion, sir, the reason that most of the regulars find you annoying is because you act like a politician. You like to stand up on that pedestal of yours and act like you know everything. You're condescending and stubborn. And no, I'm not trying to turn the attention from myself to you. I just figured that someone ought to tell you soon.

Slightly off topic, but I feel it deserves some attention. That this is quite true, and not some lame "trolling" attempt. I've never felt that mangled trolls (at least intentionally). His posts are crafted with a certain care. Although I am sure many would brush this off, thinking not to feed the being under the bridge, I'd advise to not be so hasty.

This kind of thing is... excessive? Honestly, does this really help? "mother f**kin' " isn't needed. It doesn't contribute, and it's immature. So why is it that when some people act like this, they get warnings. Yet when others act like this, they're ignored? Why is that? If an admin read xurich's post, and agreed with it, for some reason I think he might just ignore it... Or if an admin read this, and disagreed with the post, he'd have no trouble giving a warning.

I'm kind of surprised that Mangled didn't vote for me because I'm a christian. You know, supporting the Jesus stuff and all that.
Actually, I have no votes at all. This is either because I have yet to piss someone off or I don't speak my mind often enough around here. Between working 28 hours a week, volunteering for the kids camp program at my church on my days off and going again on Sunday mornings, plus the fact that I now have 9 games on my PS3 to play with, I've found myself spending way less time here. This will change in August. The camp program will be over and the 2 guys in our department who are on vacation will be back, so they'll take some of the hours again.

Why would I hold a grudge against someone for what they believe? By those standards I would have probably gone for Demonic as he is the least-likable christian moderator, but even then I still had bigger fish to fry with my vote.

As for the christian part, let's just say that this was a very educational period in my life. Something like an epiphany, but not with the effect that people usually mean by it.

Oh, I'm quite civil about it really. I admit I do have the most contempt for Christianity, but that's mainly down to its institutionalisation and commercialisation (selling out) and spawning such shameless things as televangelism and generally harassing people on the street with flyers and asking for money. My gripes always really lie with the clergy and the institution, because quite honestly I think out of anybody in any faith, it's the religious leaders who are the real bullsh*tters as they are in it for the wealth and the social status and they know it isn't true.
I just want people to think for themselves and believe what they believe is true, not what their family has taught them, not what they read in a book, but what they believe for themselves. Ideally something based on something concrete, something that doesn't contradict everything we know to be true, something that doesn't have an underlying agenda of self-promotion and claim of absolute truth.
Anyway, lets not take this off topic... I think this thread still has a lot left to yield.
If anybody was interested, I did infact vote for jrgp and to admit I did have a feeling he would be right up there from the start. It's nothing too personal... I think of all the current moderators he least fits the personality and perhaps maturity that people expect of a moderator. Too engaged with his preconceptions to consistently make good judgements. Though I do think he has the patience of a saint, I don't think he has the intellect of a wise man. He's also impervious to humour, irony, art, creativity and elegance. I think also, a lot of other moderators hold their own personal contempt against him as he did manage to get from being a suck-up member to being an Administrator within a very short time.

I was secretly hoping someone would ask. I'll make a thread about my past few month's worth of adventures, but to sum it up-- I moved to Florida with my dad, then we moved 4 times and I spent a little while as a transient. Now I have a phone with a web browser, and I'm back at half capacity until I build another computer.
jrgp is an extremely nice fellow who has done a lot for me and various other people for absolutely nothing in exchange. If he topped the chart and I, who has been inactive for 3 months, is at the bottom with one disgruntled vote, then some of us should rethink what a good mod is.

By the way, I don't expect your long-term goals to severely effect your day-to-day life. I'm talking about short-term goals as in "Gosh, I wish I was in better shape. I suppose I've always wanted to try surfing, and that gets you into shape..." or "I wish I was a bit more of an intellectual and I love reading, so why not pick out some random books from the Western canon and have at it?"
Vague improvements to your life that can be satisfied in a multitude of ways work well because anything you choose simultaneously betters you and fills your life with richer experiences.

How do you expect to hold a conversation with a variety of people at a party if the only subject matter you're familiar with is computer programming? Why not learn to do these things now and get the partying and girl-laying underway while studying for school?
Then again, I just want interesting stories from you. I think it would make you a more interesting person, but that may not necessarily be what makes you happy. Don't let me force anything on you that isn't in your character.

In others, it won't be fully developed until their early 20s. Over time, jrgp will build up confidence. He will begin to discover the specific kinds of movies he likes, what he finds enjoyable in a woman (his penis olololo), etc. However, you really can't force that kind of thing out of somebody. Especially not over the internet.
The way that people interpret me over the internet is quite different from how they interpret me in person. I may seem uptight, condescending, etc. while posting or chatting, but I'm actually a very laid back guy. I like sitting around and making stupid jokes to laugh at all the time, and I'm very easy to get along with. But I wouldn't have been able to tell you this three or four years ago.

Quite the truism. But there are two problems with the "he'll get to it when he gets to it" argument: not everyone develops at the same rate and some don't develop the way they hope they do.
We've all met those lonely adults who still haven't seem to come out of their shell. You might argue that they don't care that little of substance has ever come of their lives -- and maybe they don't. Who am I to try to force an apathetic someone to see things my way? But this -- "I'm just a 16 year old computer nerd/geek with nothing better to do than spend his days doing computer related things." -- doesn't sound like someone who's content with where they are in life. Maybe he was being sarcastic and I misinterpreted it, but I don't think so.
At sixteen years old, jrgp has as little responsibility as he's ever going to have in his life. Now is the perfect time for him to create and cement the habits that will bring him joy for the rest of his life. You're right, it doesn't have to happen now; but if he wants to change and if I can make his life better by pushing him in the right direction, then that's what's best for him. I happen to think that the sooner he starts living life the way he wants to, the happier he'll be in the long run.
Honestly, though, I just want to hear some great stories and to know that jrgp is having fun, or at least getting an adrenaline rush from something. It's no fun sitting by as others rot in their chairs -- unless that's entirely what they want to do (have at it, if that's your thing).
However, you really can't force that kind of thing out of somebody. Especially not over the internet.

Cause I hate not knowing the truth about rumors.

So has most of the staff. Remember one day (like a year back) that I appeared to be an "Admin" and you came to the conclusion that the "forums just messed up"? That was the result of Chakra giving me the credentials to his account while he was stoned/intoxicated.
For the record, the main reason why Chakra was deadminnned is that he was giving out access to his account.

Really? Because I probably did the least with his account. All I did was delete a post or two that was outright spam, mostly just removed sigs that broke the rules. I admit my mod time was very controversial, with just cause, but I didn't know that hatred was planted so deep.
