Just a notice about using jpg. jpg scenery and especially textures may cause access violations on maps for users that are using nvidia. so dont use em.

jpeg is designed for IRL taken photographs where stuff isn't intended to be pixel perfect. So obviously it's fucking terrible for anything but.
For things that need to be, gif, png, tga, ftw.

Creators of graphics should make/render sceneries in PNG/BMP because converting from JPG to PNG won't repare it/make it prettier... Try to convert some PNG to JPG by (for example) Paint, then export that JPG to PNG... You'll see that you have lost picture's quality...

yes because JPG is a lossy format whereas PNG is only lossy if you choose a shitty palette. it's the same thing as in converting from FLAC to WMA and then to FLAC again
