Hey, if C# could be complied any other way I'll be glad to use it.
-
Well, yeah... as usual, i won't/can't use it thanks to .NET
Sorry, i just hate it.
Although, good job
-
Im usin it good job!
-
Good job. :)

You -could- use Mono, the open source implementation of C# led by Novell, which is also usable under linux...
Granted, users still have to download/install a runtime, but it isn't the all consuming evil that M$ is

is there a reason that you're linking us to the .NET installer on your site, rather than from microsoft?
-
Most people have trouble downloading from microsoft ( have no idea why) but its easier just to distribute the redistributable. I'll put both thinks.
-
I only asked because many people hesitate when downloading executables from sites they do not know very well, and also because it just seemed like an odd thing to do
in addition, I'm fairly certain that Microsoft has redistribution policies for things like this that prohibit doing so
-
Well, you could just set it up yourself, rather than downloading a program.
There is also Diamond Demo Player.
-
I really like this program but there is one problem when viewing demos with spaces in the filename. Any chance of this getting fixed?
-
The creator has left the community, at least he said so.
Also, make sure you check how long it's been since the last post this time. This is about 7 months after the last post.
-
Bug fixed. Download and replace previous version.
-
Thanks for the update! This is definitely the best demo viewer available. :D

I don't get what some people (usually developers) hate about .NET. It's not slow, nor does it hog much resources. In addition to that newer Windowses come with it shipped so you don't even need to download it. .NET applications are safer than unmanaged applications, and there's also less chance for bugs like memory leaks since the memory is managed by the framework. I'm sure that whoever dislikes the framework dislikes it for a reason, but for those who don't really know about .NET, please don't hesitate to download it, because it's completely fine to have it installed on your computer (or rather, it's preferred seeing how a lot of applications are developed in .NET nowadays, and the number is increasing rapidly).
@FliesLikeABrick:
Microsoft allows you to redistribute the .NET framework. If it didn't there wouldn't be a redistributable version of it available.
Anyway nice app bja888, good work!
-
Since this doesn't work on win98, i'll write my own.

ty.
There are a lot of reasons to like .net and a lot of reason to hate it. For this app though, it doesn't matter. Its just a simple program to run demos. If you don't have/want .net don't use it.
-
nice app props! i will definitly use this
-
I think most people hate framework because they have not seen anything bad themselves, rather, they have listened to sometimes computer illiterate people who downloaded FW and reported nothing but problems. Even on my old 500 mhz P3 I had no issues running 256mb of ram...

So, Mr Terrorist... how many more topics do you plan on reviving tonight? ::)
-
.net discussion is not for this topic. Move it to the lounge or a programming forum please.
-
where does this install to??
-
No install. Its a stand alone executable.

Added the registry script so you can open on double click.

Attached downloads to the post, thanks bja888 for reuploading!
Unfortunately it seems Simple Demo no longer works on modern systems.
Either way, attaching mirrors to this comment for safekeeping.
