I think the original snakebite's spawn area was fine, and it was the simplicity that made it fun. I also think that the graphical changes are good, I feel like the snake on top and the oasis in the middle end up just looking silly.

I like the tactical change.

I liked original looks more than these, mostly cos of texture, kinda bland boring texture now... I don't like the snake (either), also I think it's been causing some fps issues for someone.

However I like how map works out. There are some irritating bug issues (flag gets stuck in poly corner etc), but now that bottom got some use in this map it's all good for me. One of the most boring maps gets interesting.

issues:
all creates that have a collider on them should be middle, the bridge should be middle too
on the left lower, there are some polys badly colored

Honestly, I remember Suo telling people how to innovate ideas when making maps when he introduced the flag tossing idea. He used Snakebite as the example and all he did was the same  thing on the remake but didn't change anything else.
Keeping all the original looks/scenery and implementing that idea is much better than the one proposed imo.

This remake is made by zakath :)

Lol, I know that. But when I started mapping, you were showing new mappers how to innovate ideas, and in the general mapping discussion I believe, you showed a pic of the same idea zakath used on the new snakebite. I wish the new Snakebite is what you did, instead of zakath's version(which isn't that bad btw).

I agree that the original snakebite looks better than the current one. However I feel with a couple of changes to the flag area the remakes gameplay is better than the original.

I feel a lack of (mid) scenerys in the mid/top
(not in my pc right now, only by de OV, will down tonight)

-edit-
played. it was ok... I'll add one more grass (set to middle) near the oasis.
all the creates are equal!!! zero rotation, zero resize, same color (and lower ones are all the same color again)

amazing job!
I found a polybug near the flag.
The "?" one is not bugging for me, but it's pretty ugly

This map would look all fine if the new texture by SuoW would fade from sand into rock ... original snakebite was great!

Mm propably better if I merge those those polybug causing polys.

Delete that pointless tree in the middle.

I would lower that vertices and put an extra poly

I like that palm in the middle!

Pretty much every remake has that fugly black border around the map, why?

To me it's not fugly. Just wondering how it's okay in nuubia but fugly in the rest maps. However as you propably know it yourself, black edge is sort of easy and fast way to make edge. I do agree that it shouldn't be used in too many maps, I'll fix snakebite so that only bottom area will have that "fugly" bg, since black blank is good especially as bottom edge.

I prefer the remade base more, since it's bringing bottom route into game more. However I feel that flag place is annoying from time to time. So I thought that there might be better ways to bring bottom into game.

Some suggestions:

Base1
(http://i46.tinypic.com/2cwwhsy.jpg)

Base2
(http://i50.tinypic.com/35jiipt.jpg)

Base3
(http://i46.tinypic.com/28tvua8.jpg)

When you comment it, say if you think it's better with the bridge or without it. Also if you got other ideas feel free to paint them.

Discuss.

Base1. My favourite, it's simple and should work nicely. Better without bridge.

Base2: I'm not so much fan small polyislands in base.

Base3: This one is also okay solution with bridge, but reminds too much Cobra.

I prefer base2 cuz it got more ways to run or catch the efc, you might be able to do more mov tricks there. I like that bridge, reminds me Ash base somehow.

The first or the third solution, though I like the third more, it is more open. But it might work better without the bridge since you'll be able to sneak more, but I agree with that it does remind me of cobra too, so after all the first one might be better.

You are speaking my language.
- If you can, stick with the default snakebite texture, it had some special charisma to it.

Suow, you double posted.

I agree.
Lots of moves possible.

I vote for Base2 and for the bridge.
