Post by: Hacktank on May 29, 2010, 03:36:20 am
Hello guys. I made a small java game this for a school project and i would like to share it with the community. It is a meld of Geometry Wars and Astaroids in both gameply and graphics.

Here are the controls (from the readme file)
Code: [Select]
Controls:
W,A,S,D: move
click: fire toward mouse
up/down: control flow of time
space: propell self toward mouse
enter: toggle pause
c: enter cheats

Download link attached. Just extract the folder Game and run Game.jar.

Notice to Windows 7 and maybe Vista users: I cannot for the life of me get this to run properly on Windows 7. It may work on Windows Vista, i havnt tried.

All code/images made by me.

What do you think?

I like it very much, good job :) Will you go on developing it or abandon it?

I was planning on redoing it in C++... I hate java :D.

My plan is to have the enemies actually be sentient ships that can shoot and avoid your bullets. The game would obviously have a camera and much larger game area.

What do you mean by "have a camera"
And why does the ship looks like a green dildo?
WHy I can survive not longer than 50 seconds?
Will multiplayer be possible in the furure? :D

1: Like the soldat camera that is centered on the player and only shows you part of the game level.
2: Because i had to turn this in to a school teacher.
3: Try slowing it to like 75%, its a bit easier.
4: Maybe a deathmatch lan mode :).

No, just High School UIL CS.
Cool, I guess java VM has compatibility issues with Win 7.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Damn, lmao.

Why does everytime I try to run this (including when you posted it on HTZRPG Forums), Game.jar opens with WinRAR ? D:!

Because when you installed winrar you told it to associate .jar files aswell (probably the 'all' option). You would need to right click on it, go to open with, then there should be something that says "Java(TM) Platform SE Binary" if that is not there then hit browse and put this into the address bar: "C:\Windows\System32\" and find Java.exe, double click on it, hit ok on the open with screen, and boom.

I'm surprised, to be honest, kills time better than Solitaire.
