oOoOO - NoSummr4u (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCrVcmiERy0)
///▲▲▲\\\ - Spit Shine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNxep8XnAwk)

But as always, I listen to a lot of stuff. I try not to limit it to a single genre.

Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse - Dark Night of the Soul (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T31TsoktkAc)
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes - Home (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjFaenf1T-Y)
Ima Robot - Ruthless (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRNy2Ba_jzc)
The Fall of Troy - FCPREMIX (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iijmj5nB6I)

And god, a lot more stuff that I don't have the initiative to list.

Nice tracks, I especially liked the first one.

For classical I suggest Goldmund (http://www.myspace.com/goldmundmusic) and Frozen Silence (this one's a free download (http://www.jamendo.com/en/artist/frozen.silence)). Though it's more like just piano music, it doesn't quite have the classical feel to it.
Paul Cardal also makes piano and instrumental music and it has a much more classical feel (a lot like the links you posted). Also Joe Hisaishi. If you ever watched any of Hayao Miyazaki's animated films, you'll know what his music sounds like. Though it's not just piano but a lot of other instruments too.

I also think I've heard Neurokorroosio and Ruoska somewhere, at least something very similiar.

Sort Sol is a danish back-in-the-day punk band. Often considered to be the first true punk band, they've had a special spot in my heart. They've sorta moved away from the genre and gone into rock, but really there are a million different discriptions for'em. It's one of those bands you either love or hate, though most of my generation are prone to the latter. The singer, Steen Jørgensen, has only one arm.

Check out some of their stuff, tell me what you think. But be warned, it's not techno, so f**k off.

Golden Wonders (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PG0RyF8bTow)

Let your fingers do th walking LIVE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jomg-l7V6Tw) A very retro piece, 1993.

Next Century (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3WGARFfNV0&feature=related) Probably my favorite track.

Just secured a ticket to see them live next month. Wicked!

In this thead: Post your favourite music hoping everyone else will think you have great taste, whilst either ignoring or disliking what most other people post.

Sometimes it's the people who don't participate in threads like this, who really say more than the ones who do.

I'm not telling you what I like because it's too good for you. You don't even care if it really is or not.  :)

Sony released music unlimited powered by qriocity about a month and a half ago. I bought the one month subscription that came with one month free. At the moment I only use it on my PS3 and I love it. True, the UI sucks and the inability to use one of the services best features, 'Music Sync' really fails, but none the less I love music unlimited. Oh, I guess you guys don't even know what music unlimited is about... it streams music to your PC (PC UI rocks!!) PS3 internet connected TV or Blu ray player. Search for some artist album or song add/save it to your library and listen to it anywhere. (I've noticed the library being limited for the less popular artists I listen to) Oh, and 'Music Sync'. 'Music Sync' lets you sync all the music you already have. just scan and your music is added/saved it to your library and you can now stream it from the cloud.

Any way... I've been listening to Fall of Troy; Phantom on the Horizon. I like it cause it's different but equally amazing to the ghostship demos. Check it out!! Same songs:

Music thread?

I play keygen music on my piano.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR3YJEI1nfA

"Keygen music" being chiptunes, keygens related to "crackscene" which leads me to...

Some awesome (chiptune or not) music from various products (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demo_%28computer_programming%29) by the computer art subculture called demoscene (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demoscene):
Batman Forever by Batman Group (2011, Amstrad CPC)  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJosZfm560Q)
Robotic Liberation by PWP (2003, Commodore VIC-20) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SdGkkp1aq8)
Tom Jones by Trilobit (2007, Atari 2600/VCS) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UE3YEny7dO4)
Chaos Theory by Conspiracy (2006, Windows/PC)  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DjBq2O0XXk)
Lifeforce by ASD (2007, Windows/PC) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDWGLLJLLLk)

(Yes. Programs generating real-time art, no pre-renderings/pre-recordings. The relation between keygens and demos? Demoscene spawned off from crackscene in the early 80's. Oh and a cool documentary with cool music about the demoscene: Moleman 2: The Art of Algorithms (2012) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRkZcTg1JWU))

The vocals could use some work, they sound a bit strained in parts, mainly the begining. I liked the tune though.

Absolutely loving the subtle/dark humour in the Australian alternative rock band TISM (This is serious mum). This band doesn't seem to have made it their way to the states or more over anywhere else, still not entirely sure how much common knowledge it is somewhere else besides Australia.

TISM - The Penis is Mightier than the sword (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrxO_F281iw) - This one's not really music, but hilarious nevertheless. Speech is inspiring for sure and it's a poetic live gig response to this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzYj1SAzDZI) basically.

Those who don't know anything about it, the guy Derryn Hinch from Melbourne radio decided one day to devote his body and brain power for his little poem broadcast which is to send message about TISM's catastrophic and distasteful music, which is all his opinion of course. Later the guy got arrested for sexual relationship with an underage girl, he spends his time in jail and few years later his liver fails to advanced cirrhosis. TISM wins no matter how you look at it.

And how can anyone hate their music in the first place? TISM - If You're Not Famous At Fourteen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAOl6Mqh5aw)

Fawkzy that's your oppinion so add the "IMO" there. And I kinda agree with you, but it's commercial dubstep, I don't like Skrillex either, so please do not fall into hypocresy.
And it's not only dubstep, it's the best of Monstercat media, which includes a lot of electronic music.

Fawkzy hate comes in different shapes, and what you said was a bit "hater-like". I would love to know exactly what means "sounds generic and brings nothing but repeatability and greediness", because generic? That's because you are sick of it and nothing more, and I do not get the greediness part, why? Do not get offended really, we are just sharing oppinons.

@Moroes: I saw Stone Sour this weekend on Rock am Ring festival along with Korn, The Prodigy, Green Day and a lot of other awesome bands :) I might be posting some pictures of me and my group of mates once I get my hands on the photos.

Right now, I am really into Parov Stelar, an Austrian DJ and music producer. His tracks feature the 20's and 30's swing with fresh new beats and catchy grooves. Some say sampling means copying, but listening to this artist truly showed that it is recreation. This is one of the few electronic music artists that I actually want to experience live.

Some samples from his newest EP:

At The Flamingo Bar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiXUNLi6Vqk)
The Fireface (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YA3BgxbHF2U)
The Invisible Girl (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPtKWJ_KTOQ)

The first track I ever listened to by Parov Stelar was this one:

Catgroove (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twqM56f_cVo)

@Foxconn: Electronic music does not have to be repetitive. Artists choose their music to be like that, or better: the majority of people want it to be like that, so the artists feed their audience's ears with what they want. Today's dubstep music has a broad range of style, and this diversity is what makes it very interesting for me. People still experiment with dubstep to see where this new genre is going. Of course, I know that dubstep is much older than most people think. London's garages know better. And while I do agree that there are a lot of repetitive tracks out there that do not deserve much better than dwell their ugly existence on a niché channel on Youtube, there is more to it than what you describe. However, personal taste is something I do not want to discuss, but please mind that it emerged from the dephts of the 90's rave and jungle music, which was experimental at the start as well.

That's just your own very subjective perspective which is a lot different from the mainstream perspective. You have no right to claim it to be bad music. It may be not your cup of tea, but someone else likes to sip from that exact cup of tea and feels offended if you tell him he's drinking poo. Don't put your personal opinion above anyone else's.

Dude, are you mental? I did not compare Metallica to Justin Bieber, I explained how different people have different views. What you have to understand that everyone has the right to have their personal view, whether you like it or not, and you have to respect them. Thus, calling the music they listen to bad, artificial or whatever you want to call it, is a no-go and although I listen to a lot of the heavier stuff, go to festivals and sometimes wear merch-stuff by bands, I still respect other people just like I respect other cultures. Your obvious intolerance is what made me start this "forum war" as you already call it.

So someone likes Bieber and someone Metallica so bot have listeners , fans and both the same good cause like you say both have their fans.

So lets test your theory on something else...

We have Paedophiles and Normal People so they are Paedophiles and Normal People what means its ok cause they are people who chosen to be paedophiles and to f*** children...

Or they are murders and normal people so its ok to be a murder cause they are other murders , right ?

God are you stupid. Are you actually comparing paedophilia to music or is this but an elaborate joke? Need I say more? It is so irritating and onerous to shed light on the dark corners stupidity must have left inside your brain. Be wary of comparing such extremes, especially when one has nothing to do with another.

You compare Bieber to the Beetles, Miley Cyrus to Metallica. I would rather compare some bigger stars like Robbie Williams or Madonna to the two, and even then, a comparison is difficult because their music is so different. Following your example, I would also compare bird to worm, ECB to a small town bank, Brad Pitt to Till Schweiger. A comparison like that of course is in your favour, but it's just unfair to compare legends to fads.

But hey, you can have your opinion. You clearly show you're not quite capable of understanding such complex facts.

I am just saying that he should not hurt other people's feeling by expressing his opinion like that. What the hell is wrong with you guys? You would not happen to insult your grandmother for listening to folk music? Or do you straight out tell your boss that you absolutely dislike his taste in electronic music?

Of course not. No one can kick your nuts on the internet after you tell the skinhead that you hate his music, or pull on your hair when you tell little Susan that you hate Justin Bieber, knowing that there is not even a glimpse of tapestry in her room since she has placarded the walls with posters of him.

Darkcrusade, you're the first person I've seen in the internet white knighting the elderly people. Nevertheless nice speech it clearly implicates that you observe your surroundings in fine detail, but you're a grown up man now. You need to patch that brownie railtrack of yours and stop crying like a loose pussy over every single inadequate remark you find in the internet.

No ... no there is no false music...
Justin Bieber , Miley Cyrus , Big time rush , Kanye West , Katy Perry... cough* cough*
May not be best the artists in the universe, but sure are fine subjects for other artists like this one:

All this "artist" are created for doing what they do, to earn money. Its not like they are like you think.

Its huge industry behind them that tell them what they should do and when, and maybe someone don't like their music but, hell! They are best artist(in terms of acting) in the world, because even people that don't like them, know them and talk about them... So yes in some way they are best artist just like Metallica or Michael Jackson, because they did what they planned: They are famous, they are well known and even if you dont like their music, they selling their music like hot-dogs just like any other artist.
But They are "Artist" made just for one generation: find what most people need, crate person that blend to this idea, make money of it, done. Deal with it! that how this world work.

My favorite by afx twin is Windowlicker (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MBaEEODzU0). (song starts at 4:20)

So epic how its main loop thing was used as background music in some flash RPGs I played when i was much younger, and then I found the song and I was like "oh wow this is where that was from!"

If you searched for "Audio Bullys We Don't Care" there used to be a great mix appearing with various artists, but since i started to listen to it there seems to have been a "black music only" restriction implemented, so I can't link to the list I wanted to. This isn't really about avoiding black music, but since the artists I wanted to listen to weren't black their music disappeared from the list. I'm sorry for the existence of scum.

I've wanted to get a good saw sound for a while, and I made one with Wasp. Maybe it's not a great saw, but it provides decent underflow.

I like the rhodes, although I was considering using more of a bell. It works though because I toss in a chord section in the end.

Someone kept telling the drummer to shut up. Yeah, I was using the generic FPC instead of searching for high quality drum kit files. It's just easy to use and toss together.

Altogether, I learned how to mix audio together better.

https://soundcloud.com/nolantheturtle-1/ethereal

Also, wake up. And this guy in the library next to me who's playing flash games seriously needs to learn about Soldat.
Title: Re: Music Thread
Post by: Blacksheepboy on September 29, 2015, 10:27:28 am
Another amateur track. I'm going to rework to the vocals so they don't use a generic vocoder preset. Yeah, the sigh at the end sounds a little transexual for this piece, haha, because usually you'd have that effect with a female vocalist in a lighter piece. The vocals need more effect. I just wanted to get a finished outcome.

https://soundcloud.com/nolantheturtle-1/caravior

Edit:

Did sidechaining for the kick, added another reverse vox track in the middle with another effect, and enhanced the stereo on some of the modules. Now I'm bloody finished.

I like a band called Amon Amarth. They're kind of singing about how the ancient god of fire will rise and burn the whole world while wolfs devour the sun and moon. I think that's cool.

I think "flickering" of the sound is a bit too much and ruins the flow a bit. IMO there should be a consistent drone track playing in the background, to maintain some of the flow even through "flickering". Perhaps more tracks and variation in general would help. This is all subjective though.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I will consider that in further recordings.
