M4-Carbine from v0.97b. 
Hi. So i never seen before the m4 from Soldat till today and I'm wondering why it got removed?And why should it not be returned to life..
So give your ideas and suggestions...

yes i got a problem"not cause of poll" and and at end i got 2 topics and i send a message to the admins/moderators to remove the one...

I don't see a reason why M4 should be brought back. Actually, I don't think M4 was ever removed in the first place - it was just remade into Steyr AUG. :P
Visually Steyr AUG fits Soldat arsenal much better. Unlike M4 (which is closer to MP5 and AK in its shape), AUG has a very unique shape, so it adds more variety than M4 would. M4 just looks kinda generic - every single modern-warfare shooter has a similar gun.

M4 was remade to Aug in terms of appearance, probably for the reason Loner stated.

Colt 1911 was changed to USSOCOM for the obvious reason of keeping things a bit realistic and updated. Colt 1911 is a .45 pistol with 7 ammo. MM probably wanted to buff the pistol by adding more ammo. To make sense of the change, the 7-ammo Colt 1911 is replaced with the more modern USSOCOM, another .45 pistol but with 12 ammo.

If you still want the M4, you can just change the Aug to the M4 by modding. Afterall, the two would have been the same gun balance-wise.

nobody should care about the wepons how they look... u can remove all on ur own and take other graphics... so its pointless...since u anyway can do it for ur own soldat :)

maybe the minigun should be removed cause it is somthing like a... spam lag "noob" weapon maybe remove it and add m4 so like:

Or maybe, the devs working hard to improve bugs will help minigun by improving the netcode a bit.

Minimi have 100 ammo!? Are you serious? 50 is already bordering on too much :L

The Minigun is a very nice gun which adds a lot of diversity to the game. You can minigun-surf to gain pace which helps you taking down EFCs or score. On the other hand, you can use it to block routes and it can kill very fast if you just know how to aim it. Most players don't play a lot with the Minigun, so they cannot use its whole potential. So my advice is: learn to play.

No. it'd be closer to the real one, BUT:
#1, (minimi) it would create balance issues.
#2, (minimi) if the balance is given, minimi would practically be another minigun.
#3, (minimi) it's already being discussed (or maybe it happened already) that minimi needs a nerf.
#4, (soldat) mucking around the numbers like that is mindless.
#5, (M4) why a step back?
#6, (M4) another generic auto? no thanks, i like minigun, when teh lulz is needed. besides, (ego +1) I'm one of those rare guys who play (realistic) minigun with skill.

"I don't know" is just a waste of cyberspace.

And as said before, if you don't like the Steyr go find someone to make you an M4 conversion or do it yourself.

Why must you replace an existing weapon? If you want an M4 or whatever then suggest that as a new weapon.

I'd assume you're talking about modding when you talk about "replace". (even though I know full well you're referring to "replace minigun with m4")

I have no real issue with having new weapons in Soldat, but my question is whether it would be any different from the existing weapons and therefore whether that would enhance Soldat's gameplay. I cannot agree with a simple "I WANT AN M4" without elaboration on how this M4 can be implemented into the game without being essentially another one of the existing autos, in which I'd rather just suggest the user modded his own weapons or we add some kind of ability to choose the skin of your weapon in the weapon menu itself.

Could add an m4 with burst fire, shooting 3 shots at a time.

add some kind of ability to choose the skin of your weapon in the weapon menu itself.

Now there's something worth looking into.

@TheV: A burst fire mode would not only need some coding, I suppose, but also a lot of balancing.

That's true, but it'll take awhile 'til most bugs are fixed, so might as well spice it up with a new feature or two, so we don't get bored while waiting for bugs to be fixed. :P
