Title: A call to all owners of soldat servers
Post by: Leo on April 13, 2011, 07:52:13 am
We need to enable msac anti-cheat on our servers. Msac now works smootly and Mr got rid of almost all bugs out of it. I don't understand why almost no one has this enabled in his server. I am running 7 servers and I have it enabled in 5 of them. If the majority of server owners enable it people will actually care and download/install the client. Don't you want to get rid of all lamers/cheaters for good ? The official version with msac needs months yet to be ready. Please enable msac in your servers, for the good of the game. Thanks.

Would U13 server renters like MSAC installation added to the web panel? I'm willing to add it if anyone wants that functionality to exist.

Yeah, sure, if the other climb-server owner do it aswell. Otherwise most of the players will just play on the other servers because they're to lazy to download MSAC, or they just dont read the kick-message and go herp derp.

Yes, this can only work if the majority of servers, better all, enable msac.

I've tried enabling it on my servers but players cba to download and install it(sometimes it doesnt even work for them, like they have it installed and still being kicked). So I guess Ill wait till the new version comes out with the msac implemented.

edit: plus it still causes fps drop

Last time I tried, it killed my INF server  :-\
Is it a hassle to include the client with Soldat's setup.exe?

This is why no one wants it.
Fix the fps problem and people will use it.

It doesn't, people are just too lazy.

No fps-problems over here. He fixed some fps-issues with client v0.1.001 btw. Maybe you tried it before it got released (2011-03-10).

Nvm guys, after my request Mr did it. "kick_if_not_installed = false" will do until new version is out. Check msac page for news. Thank you Mr :D

what is it for if it doesnt require installing? :P

hackers just wont install it and nothing changes

We ban the "obvious" hackers like before, we demand from people that we suspect that may hack to install it. Think ;)
*p.s I know it's not perfect but it's the best we can have until new version with msac included is released.

Another nice feature would be redirecting the player to a server without anti-cheat, but I think that can be done with scripts.

I would like it on my server if it didnt require the player to go and download stuff for it to work. This is obviously impossible unless the new devs integrate it.

Create a thread in the Bugs and Suggestions forum asking if MSAC can be built into Soldat?  (e.g. don't expect them to see it here, it deserves a separate thread)

If Mr and the soldat devs think that MSAC is a mature enough tool, it's a very reasonable suggestion

Isn't Shoozza already working on API for MSAC? I think he mentioned some time ago that MSAC will be integrated in the next Soldat version.

EDIT:
Yep, he did.

We are currently working with Mr on the anticheat API. The rc1 will come out once it works.

if you're new to the game and gets kicked out of every server... he/she'll just drop the game instead of bothering to download some anti-cheat.

Very true Ginn, plus hackers are finding ways around MSAC.
