Title: Devlog update (2012-02-26) serious fixes, new dev member
Post by: Shoozza on February 26, 2012, 05:55:29 pm
Hello community!

We have another new dev: Falcon!
You asked for scriptcore improvements, thats what he wants to do.

Also both skoskav and Falcon are set up and can compile Soldat and Soldatserver.

Besides that I fixed a few serious and less serious bugs.

I noticed that when a map cannot be loaded in singleplayer the join game tab is highlighted while you are on the start game tab - that is fixed now.
Also fixed the bug that Soldatserver is semi hanging. You maybe joined a server which was bugged. That bug is fixed or at least one reason why it happened.
The bug that Hold_Limit in Soldatservers soldat.ini doesn't was ignored is also fixed (bug 156).
Theres also some "eyecandy" improvements. Well not really eyecandy but anyways. The Exit tabs content is now correctly aligned in resolutions larger than 640x480.
More like this may find it's way into Soldat 1.6.3 but I'll focus on the important stuff next.

Also Mr discovered a serious security issue in Soldat and showed it to me - this issue has been fixed.

While we are at it the next Soldat release will come out next month. The target release date is 2012-03-10. I don't think it should be delayed any longer so hopefully there is enough time for testing and finishing stuff.

This week was slow and I didn't work as much on Soldat as I wanted to but I want to do more till next weeks devlog.

Until then!

Thumbs up for the aprox release date, cant wait for it to happen. Also wondering what is up with MSAC, is it being developed at all or did mr stop working on it? It's good to know few more bugs has been fixed, keep up the good work dev team.

Good luck on adding awesome scriptcore features falcon :D

Yay, scripters will now be unleashed! Hopefully  some of this stuff (http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=41687.0) will be added by next version.

Falcon, as long as you don't put limits on everything you won't be hated. Maybe. :-X

Mr is not in the dev team because he wants to finish MSAC first.

Dorkeydear told me he doesn't want to join the dev team.

Anything planned about implementing stuff from http://www.google.com/moderator/#15/e=131efc&t=131efc.40 (http://www.google.com/moderator/#15/e=131efc&t=131efc.40) ?
I do really crave for
"Information about Votings in Console: who voted who, and what the reason was."
and
"Ban_protection for ingame_admins from being banned by vote- / flood- / pingkicks (kick yes / being banned no). Admins should not get banned by their own server."
Those are some very very important things....

Yea i hope shoozza will actually implent those features which have most votes as he was the one who wanted us to vote there in the first place. Also I will be dissapointed if some of them werent implented already

Ban protection for admins should already be there. I think i fixed it long ago. If not I'm sure the testers will notice.
The vote thing: Wouldn't mind if a more detailed post in suggestions could explain me the functionality you want.

Reposting from last devlog update:
"Is adding your chatMod stuff to Soldat's core (aka "recoding it from scratch in delphi") too much for the next version?"

...well...of course it's too much now that we know the target release date but do you still plan on integrating it?

It's low priority. I'll add it only if I find the time. I can't currently tell how much work needs to be done to make it work.

Well, we simply want to have information about kickvotes ingame being stored in the logs, should look somewhat like
12-01-30 20:30:11  (playername) started votekick against (playername) - Reason: (kickvote reason text)

This would be so damn helpful in so many situations, please add this as soon as possible.... I beg you  :'(

As much as i love this game for australia this is to little to late im afraid, a lack of anti cheat fucked us really badly, lost layers interest greatly, im placing no blame, just commenting my thoughts. Im stoked for active countries that the dev team is still caring and working, i will get 1.6.3 but playing in na servers or against euros just isnt the same and i cant see my inerest holding past next sctfl.

basically I just want to say thanks to all devs past and present for their work time and effort on this perfect game. To the euro and NA communities, enjoy it while it lasts because honestly no other game fills the void of a low ping competitive gather or war. Ive tried bf3 and LoL and both pale in comparison.

long live aussie soldat

You're bullshitting yourself if you're actually comparing battlefield 3 to soldat.

battlefield 3 is a great game but boring without friends or comrades. But thats with every game, and in soldat you probably got loads of mates to play with since this is the game you've played for so many years ;)

but sumich is a noob heaheaheha
