Our ragtag group just got an injection of fresh blood! We have two new developers - SpiltCoffee and ExHunter!
SpiltCoffee is an Australian who neither knows his paleontology, nor uses funny Aussie slang. =( I suppose he can help us with updating the game's underlying core though, to not be so "turn of the century".
ExHunter I don't know much about yet. But I'm hopeful that he's more into science. As for coding I hear he'll initially want to focus on spiffing up the server to be be more awesome and easier to run.
But to hell with them, this is what I did this last week:
* Fixed movement speed was slightly lower when facing right #170
* Modified player looking direction to be sent to the server more frequently
* Fixed flag was thrown in a direction that was at least 16 milliseconds old #132
* Fixed server didn't notify players about all key events from other players
* Fixed camera not resetting to center when viewing above map bounds
* Some code cleanup and optimizations
We're readying ourselves for a 1.6.7 beta, which Shoozza promised would be out "uh in the comming days yeah."
-
I'm sorry. A city-slicker like me doesn't commonly have a large slang vocabulary.
-
Haha, 14th_account is understimulated.
Btw I will help out a bit in mantis bugtracker so that the process from reporting a bug to fixing it is faster and get as much feedback as possible.
-
Yeah I added homerofgods to the updater group on the bugtracker so he and MrBungle will help us with all the bugtracker related stuff like getting feedback, improving bug descriptions, verifying bugs etc.
As for me I was working on the Soldat Admin client which compiles and runs on osx now.
I also managed to get SDL2 bindings to work with lazarus on osx. It's something we will need long term.
-
Wow this will brig sure thousand of players back! [retard]
-
Intriuged by the "new developers" part of the title and must admit that I'm glad too some some fresh minds on project Soldat. Always thought it would speed the whole process up. Let's hope for the best, and good luck new devs. Usual bug notes classy as fuck, keep it up.
@up
Over 2k unique id's visits during the course of a month on one of my servers so half an increase in playerbase would certainly rock our boat!
-
That's quite the return on SpiltCoffee's and ExHunter's part. Nice to see that you're not only back to the forums but are actually taking part in development now. Looking forward to the upcoming updates. :) Now we just need Espadon back so he can redraw all the sprites and sceneries in HD or something.
-
Nobody mentioned that Mr officially joined us either.
-
According to my IRC logs he officially joined us about four hours ago. I can't just assume things when I write the devlogs.
But okay... Next week, Soldat cures diabetes.
-
GJ!
-
I hear As de Espada will be back soon too :)
How is Fryer doing on the render code?
-
This is exciting news! Soldat has a bright future :D
Is there an official list of developers somewhere, maybe with what their primary focus is on?
-
As de Espada told me that he will be back very soon.
We are currently in setup and introduction phase.
I'm more for what has been done reporting as it doesn't kill the motivation.
Uhm about Fryer see my previous sentence :<
-
I am back! Glad to see 2 more devs, and new fixes, you do a great job
I'll contact the other mapping team members to see what we can do to be included in the new version
Any bugs in maps can also be reported at http://bugs.soldat.pl/
-
great news good luck Spiltcoffee & Exhunter :)
Sounds great!

-Changed status of 0000093 to fixed
-I can add gifs to 0000155 and 0000189 when I get time.
-I think I've done what I can with 0000060 so now we just have to wait for devs :)
-
That's nice to see, Devs are going huge.

Time Bandits <3

3 weeks from last devlog, difficult problems with something or is it just lack of free time before christmas? Simple question: can we expect beta version in this year? And if not, when?

I havn't seen much activety in soldat.devs lately so I guess they have been just as busy with christmas as we have. 1 week to put together a beta seams like too little time, but I would guess that much progress will be made in the days after christmas because that's usually when people can relax and come back online.
-
There's been work done, though no one bothered posting the devlogs when I was on vacation.
A beta in 2013 is still in the air. There isn't really that much that needs to be finalized, but finding spare time to do it is uncertain.
-
Well lets get a dev log posted guys atleast they always make us smile :)
ps. soldat devs not allowed xmas i heard!
:>
-
Oeh, I'm filled with cheese and crackers right now. Maybe later.
-
Hey, I was okay with not having Christmas, but my family threatened to tie me to the tree and laugh at me while they enjoyed a nice feast if I didn't participate.
-
hey i was lazy as fuck too
-
Me too.
-
Me too (sorry Shoozza)
