Title: Devlog update (2014-02-10) Beta soon! For realsies!
Post by: 15th_account on February 10, 2014, 05:35:35 pm
That promised Christmas release we roused you up with is getting really close to completion. We had planned to release the beta Yesterday, but Shoozza ran into some hurdles with the unfinished new build scripts. Mainly what's left to fix is the installer packaging.

Here's what's been done since the last devlog:

* Modified movement speed to be the fastest when facing the direction you're moving in #170
* Fixed unable to toggle the weapon menu when carrying less than two weapons #181
* Fixed some minor bugs introduced during development of 1.6.7
* Verified a bugfix with FryFry's help.
* Cleaned up some code.

Shoozza has been diddling with the build scripts.

FryFry, on the other hand, is working on super secret stuff.

At this point Shoozza spends more time on the build scripts than actually coding Soldat, at least as far as I can tell as he's always talking to me about them.

So many secrets. Better get all hyped up beyond belief so I can get disappointed into oblivion later. Keep up the good work. :)

Modified movement speed to be the fastest when facing the direction you're moving in #170

This means only changes in direction you're moving, not messing with back direction?
I ask just to be clear so climbers and runners dont complain that now you mess with movement speed :]

Code: [Select]
NewMovement=0/1Add this to soldat.ini so it would be modifiable for server admins.

Them devlogs keep coming. Good job!
Is there any progress in an anti-cheat development?

It now behaves like it used to in 1.6.5, but consistently in both facing directions. You'll get to try it out soon enough.

That's a really warped way of combating the problem. If you want less campers and spawn killers then we ought to make it harder to be successful at it through gameplay tweaks.

Don't worry. This fix received the "HaSte's seal of approval"(not tested yet tho)
Anyway pretty much no one will notice the difference, certainly not in climbing. All should work out nicely.

We do want less campers and spawners. Just letting you know the demand exists.

I think Fryer is only playing around with rendering at this point.

Notice there is a texture, moving objects and font rendering at over 11000 FPS

I say GG Fryer

well a small work with rendering and optimizing would be nice, because of annoying problems with making soldat work smooth on PC that run latest games without a sweat.

Its really annoying when I play on my netbook with crappy dual-core Atom with no problem(only occasional lags) and on pc and laptop that doesnt have problem running Crysis 2 or even 3 its lag like hell even with all settings turned off(even without filters and 800x600res)....
Its hilarious that I need turn of everything to play this game with 5-25fps.  And please dont tell that I need "update" my drivers because its like saying that i need refuel my car to drive, or I need xp compatibility... Trust me its not hardware problem :]

oh... sorry for that writing, im just really tired of this bugs, because I didnt had them in 1.6.4

so once again, sorry for that, and good that you working on it :]

I'm trying out the different features of a media library that might possibly be used in Soldat sometime in the future. Everything in the screenshot is basically just tests being done for the different features of the library, to see if it is viable for actual usage. So far everything is going well.

You could always buy the license of Soldat from Transhuman Directive and hire a team of developers at your own expense to work on the project.

Or you could just whine on the forum about how people working on the game for free don't keep up with their initial release deadlines.

Have a good day.
