Title: Multiplayer Climbing.
Post by: KwazaR on July 02, 2014, 06:15:37 pm
Hi. Some of you might have seen me recently climbing on certain servers even though I decided to quit Soldat. Here's why. I found some relatively old demos and I thought it would be waste not to share them with you. Some of 'em have been recorded lately to make the video long enough. This time I'm playing online.

Thanks for RedLine for making this video.

Enjoy.

I have no words.

KwazaR, Viral, LoneWolf,

This is just right on so many levels. All these maps are works of Art and so is the climbing.

I felt all emotional watching this. I have a deep respect for you guys.

Thank you.
(and hats off for capping vir10)

Thanks. 4 hours of constant torture appeared to be surprisingly effective.

+1 for Redline's taste in music

It's mine. He was against to begin with ;p

+1 for your lovely timeless outfit

Never gets dirty.

if you ignore the demo flaws

Yes. Although I don't think this is much of a problem this bug should be reported.

Thanks everyone. Try to appreciate RL's work too.

I reported the bug for you #575 (http://bugs.soldat.pl/view.php?id=575)

Pro climbing on good maps!

By the way, do you want it uploaded to Soldatfilms aswell?

This by the way, but this is not the case. When I replayed the demo of ctf_vir_9 as well as ctf_vir_10 I noticed that I initially followed not myself but somebody else who was present on the server. I had to manually switch it by mouse like you do when you are on spec. The same thing happened when Moroes replayed them himself while other people said everything was okay when they recorded theirs own. I had no problem whatsoever on older demos which were recorded on the previous version thus I suppose some changes introduced in the latest version might have caused this issue. Check yourself if you want: http://speedy.sh/DDcyu/Issue.rar

By the way, do you want it uploaded to Soldatfilms aswell?

I don't see any problem.

^Yea I meant the bug which homer mentioned. Even players can't see your flips. It's some hardcoded stuff like eats and I don't think it can be fixed easily.
The problem we faced yesterday isn't that bad in my view. Just click and it's fine, but you're probably right that it wasn't present in previous versions.

The camera is going to start to follow whoever is #1 in the console, wich will be whoever joined the server first.
(Press F1, then / on the numpad to see theese numbers) <-- if someone didn't know

What's the songs name in the video so I can add it in description? Uploaded here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=243x98bzLps&feature=youtu.be)

Ok, thanks for the explanation, though I don't like this solution.

ctf_LW_Climb2, I've seen it. I was on spec if I remember correctly. I laughed when you died hundreds of times in a row on that annoying tiny ice polys at the end. Finally you scored and i was like OMFG he did it, even in the new shit movement, so double omfg! You'll always be the best Kwarzal ;D Respect!!

ctf_LW_Climb1 > ctf_LW_Climb2

and there is ctf_LW_Climb3 now as well.

These maps are all challenging and are sexy in both aesthetics and jump layout. LoneWolf is pretty talented.

Yes, art is the only word to describe this. The precision and accuracy of some of the jumps are just stunningly beautiful. Sehr gut, herr KwazaR!

that's seriously one of the greatest soldat videos.
It would be great if climbers could provide someone with demos of those, or other and mb. Control can make a 4k video or at least in 1080p but with 1.7 HD visuals?
ps: the best would be to have those demos from offline runs for zero latency.

not possible. demos only work in the versions they were taken

^That's a problem but people could record new demos in 1.7+. Second and worse problem is missing/strange animations in recorded demos. That would look even more ridiculous in 4K.
