I updated to the new version (had to uninstall/reinstall since the patch gave me that error) and now I encounter the following bug whenever I try to join a server:
http://bugs.soldat.pl/view.php?id=589 (http://bugs.soldat.pl/view.php?id=589)
Unlike there, though, whether or not I use a password gives the same error. Offline play is unaffected.
Running Windows 7 SP1.

Hmm this was an old bug, thought zakath had fixed it there was some tool he posted that you could run to see if your HWID was being calculated. Might have to wait and see what he says about this. Do you have admin user on your windows account?
-
I had this bug lately when I have tried join server 1.6.7 using 1.6.8 client.

Yep.

Doesn't the server list only populate with servers that are compatible with your client version?
In any case, this is occurring when trying to connect to 1.6.8 servers.

3rd post, try to run the program.
All it shows is a black screen with a white rectangle blinking in the top left corner for the first two seconds then hopping down like two lines and blinking there; at that point, if I press enter, the application closes (but not before).
More importantly, I should mention I have 1.6.7 on the same machine and I don't get this error in that version.

Did you patch your update? Have you tried a fresh clean install?
I think you may need to join Quakenet and go on #soldat.devs and pester one of them to troubleshoot with you.

It was a clean install; the patch gave me the same error Thize posted about (http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=43754.msg522456#msg522456).
I just did another clean install and it's working now. I'm guessing it somehow messed up when I merged my 1.6.7 folder with the newly installed 1.6.8 folder for profile, maps, etc.
Edit: Yeah, it's reproducible. It's due to merging my 1.6.7 folder to 1.6.8 but not moving any files that have the same name. Before adding my old files, I could join fine; after, nope. Don't know what file exactly causes the issue but problem solvedish.

So I figured out what the issue was.
It was, believe it or not, my player name, contained in my profile.ini file.
Apparently, in 1.6.8, if your player name has 24 characters, you get this error when you try to join servers (even though you're allowed to make a name with 24 characters).
If your name has 23 characters or less, you don't.
So fucking stupid.

I'll aim to fix that. Sorry for the issue.

i just got this bloody error together with internet connection malfunction , is that possible its not the fault of soldat client but some virus or someone trying to hack computer ?

Check one of my earlier replies.
Try to run that program. If it shows a valid hardware ID, then I surely can help you more.
If not, maybe then, too. Just try it, please.
