Title: 1.4.2
Post by: Name on January 24, 2015, 03:28:31 pm
Since the other thread was locked I would just like to say that I would personally agree with reverting the version back to 1.4.2 and simply to have the game work properly once again. If that's pure hate, then so be it. I'm not against hate anyway.

I'm afraid this is not possible.

We have no source code for 1.4.2 it was lost. What we have are old beta and alpha versions and we aren't sure how close they even are to 1.4.2 and which one is compatible with the server version code we have.
It might even be that we have 1.5.0 beta code only.

Whats with the 1.4.2 hype anyways?
If you wanna go about the "best" version then talk about 1.2.1.
It was the perfect state for Soldat and it should have only been updated with bugfixes instead of all the new features from that point on.

1.2.1 was my first version of Soldat and I thought all the hype was about 1.3.1. Those were the Soldat's golden days.

Unsurprising. Stuff should have been as organized as it is now back then.

Or maybe organisation is the problem. Everything couldn't have malfunctioned simultaneously without organisation.. or, well I suppose the earth could've been destroyed, but I doubt that we would've had to go through it like this.

I'm talking about organization in terms of source code control / SCM. Soldat only started using SVN in like 2007. Before that it was probably MM and EnEsCe sending zip files back and forth without any central source code location, so it's no wonder stuff was lost.
