Unfortunately, the planned steam release at the end of the year will not take place. We are lagging behind due to the slow pace of work.
A new, specific release date will be announced at the beginning of February. We apologize to all those who have been waiting, we are almost at the finish line but we need some time to complete the whole thing.
We still have to finish:
- New GUI (backend is almost complete and frontend is in the works) and its integration with the game. Soon we will show you how it will look like.
- Steam integration (should be completed by the end of the year)
- Release infrastructure
- Alpha/Beta tests
and a few other minor things.
# Changes in the team
Due to the long inactivity, darDar has been removed from the Creative Team lead position and we are currently looking for his replacement.
# Maps Revamp put on hold
We have decided to put on hold Monsteri's maps revamp project due to lack of funds required for its completion, we would hopefully like to return to it after the new version release.

Don't worry and don't give up, you've made more progress in 6 months than there was in years. Don't forget to have a good Christmas / New Year, etc. while you're at it. :) I still think late-December release was not a good idea this year, just as it would've been last year, so this is for the best IMO.

My guess is Patreon. Still, current amount of money donated there is so small it rather should not be spend on anything else except from ads/hosting of webpage and related services.
"$124 per month" - an average programmer earn more a day.

I know there was Patreon set up, but I'm pretty sure it was just a bonus, not a necessity required to keep the project going since everyone is in it as a volunteer in the first place. There's no way we can affort actually hiring anyone.

Save up that money and it's $1k after a year. Advertisement isn't going to do anything when what you advertise isn't good.

It would be really helpful to post some news about project. It is bad when you enter the forum and you will find "Unfortunately, the planned steam release..."
It looks like dead project then...
Show us some new screens at least or anything, but don't be silent. You're gonna loose the rest of the remaining community.
We can wait but we need hope.

Discord is ephemeral and important information will inevitably get lost to scrollback. Official updates should also be (cross)posted to these forums as well, as they will be around forever.

Fair point.
However judging by the content posted here since discord creation, I'd say official site's newsfeed would be more than sufficient for all official updates. Forum doesn't hurt, but people come here from time to time and complain about the lack of updates which are present in discord dev channels. Probably a pinned news about discord channel in HOME tab would solve it?
