WWW vocabulary:
Webspace: The maximum total size of ALL your files on the webhost.
Monthly traffic: The maximum size that can be transferred (upload an download) per month. Please consider that viewing a page is actually downloading it from your webhost , every visitor consumes a little part of your bandwidth!
Subdomain: YOU.host.com , where you can change the YOU part to whatever you like , and that will be your address.
FTP Upload: The ability to upload files via an FTP client (very fast and reliable)
Website Upload: The ability to upload files trough the website (slow and not so reliable)
PHP: The ability to use PHPcode in your sites
MySQL: The ability to use a MySQL database
Perl: The ability to use Perl
CGI: The ability to use the CGI BIN
Banners: shows if there will be banners displayed on every page
Pop-ups: Shows if there will pop up a new window when opening a page on your site.
Max. Filesize: The max size for a file to be hosted on your webserver.

try www.dommox.com, they provide free webspace, and all you have to do is post ten times (or more, depending on what size webspace you want) on their forusm. Check it out for more info...

i have an account on freepgs.com which is like 30 mbs, with php. i registered back when it was free, but now you have to pay. i don't use it so i can give it to anyone looking for hosting.

freewebs.com has always treated me pretty well. No php, but the web uploading system and site manager is reliable and has never given me problems (although a bit slow). I recall there being ads in the past, but on my current account there's none at all.
I could not find an exact number for the web space, but it seems pretty adequate.

freewebs. 1mb max file size upload, space is limited to number of files, it's slow, also you cannot add too many pages..... I started with freewebs, it's maybe a good(?) start but I would not recommend using freewebs..

Might want to consider this one (http://www.profusehost.net/services/index.htm). It is as good as the best here, but the one problem with it is that it has ads.
And Dhost now gives you a subdomain :(

You need to register by emailing them, but they provide a heap load of features with cpanel. And... no ads
There forums are quite dead. But support through tickets is amazing (Got a response in 3 mins)

But, you have to pay big time for it, and it doesn't have alot of codes built into it, i find the best is BlueVoda Website builder, sometimes it doesn't work, can't load existing html pages etc, THEN I use dreamweaver.

I have Adbrite, so it's popunders actually, it's not so annoying when it's in the same window I guess. It's like, it shows the ad and at the top it says Skip this Ad or something. Like ign.com. I need to put pop-ups for such a good deal :D.

That seems to be a pretty nice web hosting. I am searching for ultimate free hosting with loads of bandwidth and disc space. Host name is not a problem since there's dot.tk.

But there's a few problems.. like if you want to make a smf forum, you can't send the e-mail confirmation. Actually, you can't send e-mails in anyway. You have to pay for that function.
They have a list of allowed file formats.. and a non-allowed file formats like: .mp3, .exe, etc. ( to prevent virus and piracy ).
If you have a file for example "wtflol.uuu" .uuu could be a compressed file ( like .rar and zip ) you can post on their forum to allow that format.

That said, if someone wants a simple site, I'll do what u13.net and llsc.net used to do and offer people a subdomain of jrgp.us for whatever.
