Title: Random pointless facts about Soldat
Post by: Chakra on September 07, 2006, 11:34:50 am: Come add your own.Â Keep 'em short and sweet.Â Feel free to correct anything.

1. Vehicles will never be in Soldat, as according to Michal.Â However he did mention that he put a tank/apc in his new game Crimson (his current in-progress creation), but said it was crap and took it out.

2. Soldat was introduced to the world on the 9th of May 2002 as 0.94b, the first public beta. (according to the manual)
1.0.0b was released somewhere between June and July that year.

3. at 1.0.5b, a person called 'BSG' created and emailed to Michal a song he created called 'Gore'.
It and 2 other tunes can be played in Soldat, and the guitar tabs can be found in the Soldat Manual.

4. Balance as a whole was changed dramatically by new network code introduced in 1.2.0 at the beginning of 2004.
Before then, everyone everywhere - despite ping - had to predict where to shoot to what is considered today as dramatic distances.

5. M79 jumping was possible in very early versions of the game, but due to a mistake by Michal it was taken out during 1.1.0 to 1.1.5(ish).

6. An estimated average of 30000-40000 unique ip's load Soldat each day.

7. www.monsoonix.com , the advertising company that hosts banners in Soldat - viewable in the welcoming screen (non-registered only) - is ran by Michal's elder brother, Maciek.

8. The most known successful clan in Soldat is Soldat Veterans (sv|), having claimed 73 straight victories up until 1.1.5

Think it was June this year that we launched 'these' forums to the public, though creation began back in May.

This is not true, and I will therefor proceed as if nr. 38 hadn't yet been made.

38. The soldat's body is divided into 3 sections, each taking different damage: The head(120%), the torso(100%) and the legs(80%).

46. Although the dedicated server is available for other platforms, the Soldat client (developed in Delphi) depends on DirectX (a Microsoft technology) so therefore will not make it to Linux or the Mac (there may be exceptions to this rule). OpenGL may have been a better choice for cross platform compatiblity.

Doesen't Moving can't make your bullets go faster, this is wrong

While in midair you can have an extraordinary speed boost by holding the prone and jet button and repeatedly pressing the change weapon button. make sure to stop this before you hit ground or your soldier will immediatlay loose all speed and it was worhtless :D

I'd not be too sure about movement speed adding to bullet speed... dunno

There is a S3 Soldat graphics pack that fixes that bug or whatever it is. I know my ThinkPad used a Savage graphics card and couldn't see much of anything until I loaded the Savage Soldat pack.

There is a S3 Soldat graphics pack that fixes that bug or whatever it is. I know my ThinkPad used a Savage graphics card and couldn't see much of anything until I loaded the Savage Soldat pack.

Yeah, it's caused by S3 cards not being able to render the whole images of the sprites. There are fixs for it, but they make it a lot laggier as well due to the extra graphics being rendered.

A lot of the taunts are quotes from that movie.

I think most if not all of those weapons are from the movie as well.
And, ofcourse, Predator Mode is from the movie.
