This is a second attempt for a Heretic mod.
It is to be a total conversion of soldat, again with lot of customisation and elements to choose from, but this time theme differs, as much from the standard soldat, as it does from my Mecha Mod.

Please note that most of the weapon graphics are taken (after a proper paint-work for better look) from numerous fantasy-themed
games, or partially based on designs found in the internet, and so i do not claim any rights to those designs, only for the whole
Mod together, as a fan-made, non commercial conversion for Soldat game. The thing i made almost completely myself is of course the
config to keep it all together, and designed to give you maximum customization, as for this mod is made for people like me, who
cant stand playing Soldat more than one week with same weapons, without getting bored by the game looking always the same...
And here i claim that i'm not making configs on request, so please dont rush at me with pm's for a custom programs for each one's mods.
Right now i'm obligated to help Field Marshall, with a config for his WW2 mod, and that promise i will keep, but that is it for now.
(I consider this one settled down)
As for the future, i'll probably make more advanced program, for use with any mod, like the previous one, currently seen in many
modifications, well, unless somebody else is willing and ble to program something on his own.
I also promise to update this mod to be fully functional on soldat 1.3.2 (or 1.4, who knows..) as soon as it's released. Further updates of this
mod, and mecha mod are quite possible, but i wont promise anything.

This is great, much better than mecha soldat mod in my opinion. Probably because I absolutely loved heretic/hexen though.

Heh that's funny, I was thinking of making a Heretic mod a while ago...
Anyways good job, a very high quality mod - though I'm disturbed by the lack of ethereal crossbow, my fav weapon :p
(or is that the same thing as rune crossbow?)

Nobody's mentioned it yet, but those are great textures. I love them, even if I have to use the old-school Soldat Mod Changer to use them.
The config program seems pretty stable to me.
Great work, keep it up. I look forward to additional customizations and weapons.

Well I havn't had the chance to comment on this yet.
Textures and flames are awesome, and the config is absolutely brilliant. Some of the weapons (in my personal view) are awesome, but alot arn't my style, I'm not a big fantasy fan so I dont think I'll download. But it's still a great mod for those looking for a good soldat fantasy mod

This mod is just as great as the Mecha Soldat mod. One thing I don't like is that the interface replaces your original soldat file, which makes it annoying when you want to uninstall the mod. :S

btw the explosions rock. I'm not a fan of fantasy themes but when I saw this I just had to download it :D
The thing that bugs me is how the soldat do that noise when they jump :/ maybe make it less loud?

Installed to Soldat and all, but in the config program, none of the drop-down menus will open...

Run config program directly, not from the shortcut on desktop. If it works, then manually make your own shortcut to it. For some reason, some people have this shortcut working properly, and some other dont.

If it doesn't work either, then i'm out of ideas. This may have something to do with user permissions in windows XP.

It's not a problem with shortcuts, and definitely not with user permissions. Any way I launch the config program, I can click a drop-down menu all I want, and nothing drops down. I also tried using the arrow keys with them, but nothing happened then, either. It seems like it's just not picking up on the files it should be, even though I just ran the installer to the default directory without any fancy stuff.
Edit: Not sure if this means anything, but I also have to click exactly twice in a row on any menu or button to get any response at all.

zero, are u running any antispyware/antivirus things in the background, or for the matter, any apps in the background while you open up the executable? try a restart of your comp also if you dont do that, or maybe redownload the program, maybe it was a packet error or something.

Tried both restarting and redownloading/installing, several times each.
Mecha Soldat works fine, so it's unlikely to be a conflict.

Spec Ops is fantastic, but try something new. this mod is very original.

looks good and fun, I really like the colors, weapons and page graphics, remind me of some kinda sacrid dark-ages thingy.
But I don't like the texture used on the arena map, it just looks ugly and too repetitive.

to Ivan: i figured out how u could make wings to soldats:
the problem is that they would have to work as weapons when in use.
the idea is that the when u have a weapon stored on ur back its showed there and its pointed away from the torso. the guns pipe will have to face upwards and the top side of the gun is pointed away from the body:

i also suggest this to be used with secondary weapons only.
im currently developing wings for the mechas that use this technique. when wielded they will fire an energy bolt or something (LAW replacement)
feel free to try it out. (hope u understood what i meant. ;)

Greetings folks. for those who liked the heretic mod, -here's the christmas present for you.
My second attempt consist of adding what some of you sugged in the oppinions and my small innovation to th emodding buisness- a little weapon color juggling.
Here are specifics:
New in 2.0
-Lots of new weapon replacements (about 100 in total)
includes 14 scrolls,for each basic slots, except knife, with some crazy weapon-mod abilities.
like flight, ranged unarming etc.
-2 new gosteks- Liche and Necromancer (total gosteks-7)
-Some new interface-gfx parts to choose from
-5 new, smooth, semi-transparent explosions imported from Diablo 2
-Added missing event-sounds(like capture, infiltration capture etc.)
-Wing Shaped replacements for Parachute
-New much improved config, with new functions:
<Enchanter>
-Innovative "Enchanter" section(weapon statistic editor,
and weapon graphics coloriser)
<Weapons>
-Now customizable cluster grenades and rambo bow in "Weapons" Section
<Graphics>
-Improved "Graphics" section (blood* color selection, Wings/parachute selection plus all powerups
selection(all customisable also in "Enchanter" Section);
<Interface>
-New options to use default soldat fonts and grenade interface graphics
<About>
-New Button to check for updated mod versions, new "Problem Solver" button -opens a panel to solve

Okay, tested it.
+loads o guns
+they r shiny and cute
+interesting scroll weaponry
+enchanter thing
+actually the whole config is a big +
+explosions are amazing
+all gosteks
+theming stuff (interface, font ect.)
+somewhat paranormal gameplay. (freaky horror feeling with all the colours of the rainbow spewing out of sticks)
-sounds are horrible at some places (jet sound, after-explosion effect whistle sound, some weapons are killing me ears)
-filesize (world record in biggest mods of soldat)

Summary:
Its very good visually, but screws up my game somehow. (the strange weapons and sounds make me confused alot.)

Ok, I tested it. Awesome weapons. A huge selection, which is the way to go. Very creative weapons, graphics, but the sounds... ehh. Many Diablo sounds and such. Not original. I still love this. Especially the scrolls. I didn't know you could do that kind of stuff.
EDIT: But why is it that you can't edit the flame god sprite?

I meant the powerup sprite for it. You can edit the other ones.

I hope you wasn't expecting that it will make you fly when you join a public server..this is not hack or something, weapon modifications work ONLY when you start your own game with "Use modified weapons" checked in config. Dont expect it to be cheating tool of any kind.

it may be a little hard with Warlock or Ork gosteks. Other are brighter-they are good in ctf games. And if you have a problems with wounded blue team warriors, covered with blood and looking red, you can change blood color in config for green or something else, so this wont cause problems anymore;)

At the moment the only choice of in-game fonts are a)original solat fonts and b)avatar fonts(used by default), so if you find them unreadable, just check the option in the config. As for myself-after few days of playing i actually used to it, and it is not disturbing me at all.

Oh, if you mean its colors, they do change automaticly when editing "Elemental Ring" item group in enchanter. Maybe you got confused because you treat it as a stand-alone powerup(in graphic section) but i've placed there only things that graphically consists only of those >boxes<, everything that has any weapon-gfx were moved to the weapons section, but all can be scrolled down to edit in enchanter's item list.

This is an alternative to anyone who wants to have ALL of his soldat files intact. The mod-style installation, changes the unmodded interface-gfx (with no backup). Same goes if someone selects the texture addon. I personally have it in separate folder, its much easier for me, and its only about 80 mb of space...in the age of 100gb++ Hard Drives, this much space is close to nothing. Not everyone remembers how it was back in 95s, when 1,2 gb was like 'WOOHOOO'.

Very displeased with the way the uninstall is organised.. I wanted to uninstall the MOD not my entire SOLDAT!
This is VERY annoying, all my files have been deleted. >:(

that is bad thing, but you should read what do you're installing. It's written in the beginning of the topic, that it has two options to install - separate, new directory, or addon. So...if you selected all files to install (full moded soldat) into soldat you already has on your drive, all files in there were to be replaced and deleted when uninstalling. That's how the uninstall works for any software.

No. Addon = add-on = can be uninstalled, from soldat so that it looks like before install.
Separate= separate self-sufficient install. But if someone will select existing soldat folder it WILL overwrite (and all of the files tagged for uninstall)

Oh my god. This is probably the coolest mod I've ever seen. I never played Heretic or Hexen, but this is some of the coolest stuff ever pumped into Soldat. I haven't been this excited about a mod in a long time. Keep up the good work!

Can anyone help me with this mod. When I kill someone or someone kills me it says 'You Slayed '. Basically it does not include the name of the person that killed me/i get killed by.
Same thing when someone joins/leaves the server ' has joined' ' has left', how can I fix this?

this (as well as mecha soldat) don't play in 1.4 or later :/ the sounds are very good! especially the /piss laughter. Btw...did each race have its own sounds? how did you make it so that alpha and bravo can have different sounds?

I never rated this, and my computer finally works, so I'm giving it an ∞/10. I loved Heretic almost as much as Lord Ivahn, it seems. I remember playing on my old computer with 30MB Hard Drive space. So there, this thread isn't dead anymore. ;)

ive just tested it.. AWESOME
2 bad its not so compatible with soldat 1.4.2..... (dosent show the respawn time and dosent show who killed u / who you killed)
