Title: Enemy Indication Device
Post by: echo_trail on June 14, 2006, 12:20:39 pm
Y'ellow,
I was playing soldat the other day, when my cousin stumpled into my room. He's around 14, and he told me he had also played this game. We got to talk about it, and he told me what he liked about it. Among other stuff, he was very impressed by the big red dot in the right corner, in particular. "What's so cool about that", i though to myself and asked him.
He replied, "I really like how it let's you know when an enemy is near"
I was like, "Wha`? Get outta here you little punk".

But you know, I think he was onto something there. He'd mistaken the ping indicator for an enemy indicator. He thought it turned bigger the closer an enemy came. But hey, wouldn't it be really awesome if something like this was made for soldat? I think it'd be extremely cool with realistic mode.

Anyway, whaddouyathink?

i dont see this being implemented. Plus we already have a way kinda....just listen, the sound is setup, so if somone is shooting to your right outa the screen, you hear it like it is comeing from the right. I think thats as close as we will get

Ehh, it's ok but it would ruin the whole idea of sneaking up on somone in realistic model.
Sorry.

if you have dialup, the ping indicator IS an enemy indicator.

Lol, but still, no way. Ruins the whole "element of surprise" thing in r/s and CW's.

perhaps the closest you will get is a radar for secondary that shows enemies names similarly to your temmates names around edges of the screen.

I use in-ear headphones when I really get into a game, they cancel out everything else and you can tell where the fights are and jets when people are coming.. not like you need 100 headphones like me but try turning up your speakers.

Yeah this idea sucks. ITS 2D!! You can already see behind yourself, so it would only be good in real, but then that would ruin real completely. Horrible, horrible idea.
